Long distance topwater recommendation
Depend on what size you want but use rod power and action accordingly. Luckycraft Sammy, R2S bubble walker. Edit** Removed frog lure since you gonna have a hard time hooking it at very long distance.

FireWire 10 pound test is junk or do I need to learn How to tie a new knot
I also assumed FireWire is Fireline and it shouldn’t be worse than Nanofil that I’ve been using. As @glenn stated uniknot with at least 8 wraps is the way to go, or try trilene knot with at least 6 wraps. This type line have absolute next to none abrasion resistance. The Nanofil is one of my favorite for panfish setup and Neko rig for bass leader is a must though.

Shimano Sensilite
Yup missing insert there. I don’t see no problem with putting new tip on, I have two rods with tip replaced (less than 10 dollars), but this is a brand new rod. Why you have to wait for a month?

@jimmyjoe check this out.

spin vs BFS
@jimmyjoe I’m not sure but maybe the rod doesn’t have enough oomph/backbone to set hook and penetrate the hard roof of bass mouth. Many time that bass I caught hook came right off after I lipped the bass or just like you jump or head shake and split the lure. (From under water video bass inhale pray with mouth close, in order to get a good hook set you will have to ply the mouth open for hook point to penetrate the skin not hook eye/lure body to closed mouth), this is just my theory if I’m wrong please forgive me. All I can do is to pin them down all the way. Light line is not my problem either once the bass get hooked and no cover for bass to get into. But light line with soft rod, you don’t have enough backbone to pull the bass out, my case is weed, either that or you risk braking the line. Also at one time I fish for bluegill, this bass grab the whole fish in its mouth and make a run. I know for sure the hook not gonna get into bass mouth, but he managed to fight with me for almost a minute (5-10’) before I can get a hold on him, then open his mouth for bluegill to escape with my hook.

spin vs BFS
As long as you don’t plan to catch bluegill with the setup you can ask me anytime bro. Be prepared to be heart broken, though. You don’t know how many big fish I lost during the fight once they decide going in deep into the weed or big rock. Too light of a line and too soft of a rod combine, and you loose control of the big ones. It is still a fair and better fight compare to spinning setup, though. Why I don’t usually comment on any BFS for bass. You can say this one because I was super lucky, 6lb line and M/F rod 1/8-3/8oz.

spin vs BFS
You got all and maybe more than enough info here. Now once you overcome with all the BFS term and specifications. And if you want to try your reel on Finesse fishing not BFS. Find some time in the morning or late evening and come visit me. My day off is still the same. I cannot spend a lot of time just hour or two. Just bring your reel and you can try my rods. Weightless plastic should work pretty good around your city/community ponds. Don’t buy that rod yet, I have 6’4 Majorcraft speedstyle UL for you to try.

Are you a precision caster?
I think I’m good most time when I aim at logs or three branches, I always cast right onto it.???
-
Brakes or Magnets?
Early backlash can happen with any brake type reels. Unless you set the brake and tension to the point of super control. It is really the way you cast and thumb experience to control this type of backlash. The type reel that might help you would be DC reel and Daiwa SV reel but of course you loose some distance.

Wasting Money on Soft Plastics
No you don’t need all of those plastic, but why not? It is just another fun of fishing addiction. Bait monkey always stays around with us. Now I agree when fish active, it doesn’t really matter what kind or color of plastic. But there are often time when fish is not committed, unless you downsize or change fall rate or become reaction strike. It is a nature of human that think there always be something better. Why we buy so many new stuffs and It is kind of more fun when catch a fish with something new instead of same old Senko all the time.

Fishing Line Ratings and Stiffness...???
First of all I don’t know why you quoted me, if I wanna use 15 or 20lb it is my choice, right? Another reason I try to avoid posting here in forum. secondly, steady pulling log compare to casting 3-6oz lure with 8-9’ rod, one wrong move and you can kiss you lure good bye. I’m not even mentioning setting hook on big running fish with very stiff XH rod, that tiny 12lb test hybrid not gonna last long. You might be so expert or just one of the guy that doesn’t know what he is talking about.
-
Fishing Line Ratings and Stiffness...???
Im sorry but I’m not casting hudds 6 or 8” with 12lb Hybrid (15-17lb izorline). The 12lb is my benchmark for 3/8-1/2oz jig and that the heaviest I use for regular fishing.
-
Fishing Line Ratings and Stiffness...???
Yes, the bigger the line diameter the stiffer it get. One type line might be stiffer than other, though. Another reason I stop using hybrid line once it get over 12lb (Izorline seems to be softer and less memory). Another thing is knot you are using. You don’t need that many wraps for bigger diameter line. Once it get over 15lb, Palomar knot is the way to go for me. I normally use 5-6 wraps for 8lb or less (more for slippery type braid), 4 wraps for 8-12lb.

Vanford weird noise
My Vanford doesn’t make any sound as your described. If you are uncertain about the reel even if it is just as simple as adding more grease. It is still brand new reel, store credit is better, you can either get different reel or wait until Vanford become available again.

Which Daiwa cast control better suited to specific techniques?
Where are the Daiwa guys? I’m not really a Daiwa fan but own quite a few. This is just my understanding and experience might be wrong though. From all the Daiwa line up, now your question should look like Magforce Z versus SV (air brake system). The Magforce (fix inductor) only found in a few model, Lexa or highly tune Daiwa. From my experience casting heavier weight, centrifugal > Linear magnetic (Mag Force)> Centrifugal magnetic (Magforce Z)> SV. This will go in opposite direction with lighter and not very aero dynamics. If you want one reel that will do it all, SV might be the one, you got more control all around but loose some distance. If you only cast Senko and up Magforce Z will get you the most balance of distance and control. All the Daiwa can become fix/stationary inductor with a drop of super glue.

Experienced anglers. Do you still backlash?
Now you remind me I still have a reel that back lash from 3-4 weeks ago and need to be respool. Talking about experience, eh? At this stage I’m not gonna fix it. it is stiff 10lb FC line. The line would get nick and kink under spool that might weaken the line.
-
Experienced anglers. Do you still backlash?
Back lash???! all the time. 30+ years experience, casting from 1/32oz all the way up to 6-7oz, all type BC reels from simple Linear mag brake to no brake at all (Newell 250).

Curado BFS vs Curado MGL 70, differences?
No, the main question is how many opportunities he lost to catch fish, fumbled with spinning reel, open/close the bail, make sure line right before reel in to prevent line twisted, fix wind knot after a few casts and so on. How many can use a flip of the wrist with spinning and send the lures to tight target? How many can backhand casting spinning? The ergonomic of palm holding baitcaster is beneficial this type of fishing better than finger holding spinning. IMHO. is it for everyone, absolutely not, especially for those spend fortune of money , buy BFS reel, upgrade to lightest spool available and casting trout magnet in small farm pond. I would say it is a lot to do with passion too.

Curado BFS vs Curado MGL 70, differences?
For you, the only reel I can think of is Conquest BFS.

Grip Pin Worm Hook Hack
Good tip, thanks. Now I never use grip pin hook. The grip pin is, mainly to keep the nose of plastic stay put and not slide down the shrank, correct? How about if the whole plastic slide up to the line (happen a lot for me). That look pretty hard to remove the hook from plastic without tearing.

Perfecting techniques (drop shot) or wasting time
If you got more bite on the fall, then just simple lift and drop technique should work. Just slowly lift as high as you can and let the lure drop on slack line. You gonna have to watch the line closely. I will work the lure as close as 2-3’ to shore. In small shallow pond, bass usually roaming in shallow close to bank area for bait fish.

Where is that BFS guy?
Humm, I’m wondering, there are a lot of BFS threads lately but don’t see that BFS expert response to any of those. I checked and all his posted got deleted/removed. I don’t think regular member can delete his/her own posts once it past period of time. I know we are not eyes to eyes in a few things but at least his knowledge on BFS or about Daiwa can benefit some of members. He still post regularly at other forum though. Just wondering ????? Some might know who I’m talking about, if you don’t know it is @BaitFinesse guy.

Baitcaster - Over or under spooled reel?
You spooling the line yourself? I’ve seen that happened many times, from not apply enough tension and holding line in one spot. Just go out fishing, take it easy or first few cast. The reel mechanism will arrange the line to be in order. For BC the line level if not really as significant as spinning. Spinning if line too full you got jumping line, if line level too low it affect casting distance. Some ppl are OCD and want to keep the line full to maintain IPT (I don’t).

Any good 100-200$ (total) Combos at Dick's or Bass Pro Shops?
Shop on Amazon, you should be able to get the same setup in about 100 bucks or so. Amazon got pretty fast shipping if you don’t order from “other seller”
