  1. i played with one today at my local tackle store and wasn't really impressed. granted, i have never used a DC reel but i also don't think i ever will, im great with a baitcaster as is. having said that, for the money i think i would just get a curado K and have much better components (eg the drag star on this is not even metal)
  2. i would agree, if a warranty claim is valid, the customer should either pay nothing or be reimbursed the full cost of shipping.
  3. agreed and you also can get 7'6 lengths in the MBR version and SJR version which you can't get in the current GLX versions. I like the extra length big time.
  4. and in 7'6 lengths ooooohhhh yeahhhhh!!! new for icast 2019 this will be so awesome, hopefully like the classic MBR and SJR IMX rods of the 90s and early 2000s now if only they weren't $435 up here in Canada....
  5. i use 12 pound test Sufix Siege
  6. i just wish shimano would put hook keepers on their higher end ones. it should be standard on their rods.
  7. i would buy my favorite rod, the E6X MBR903c, a 7'6 MH casting rod, its an awesome all purpose rod, the MBR taper combined with the 7.5 foot length is great.
  8. Another Sufix Siege user here. i love the stuff. I typically use 12 pound test on my casting rig and 10 on my spinning rig but i sometimes go up and down a line size depending on what i am doing.
  9. sometimes my curado 200i does this when i am first winding the line on the spool, but when i cast and retrieve out on the water it corrects itself and evens out. does it bunch the line all the time (even when out fishing?)
  10. I use 8 and 10 pound test Sufix Siege on spinning gear. casts well and is very strong. no issues with memory or line twist. I use this on a 3000 size shimano reel.
  11. if you are considering mono, 8 pound Sufix Siege would be perfect for that setup.
  12. what was the actual problem though? was it the latch switch to close not latching?
  13. Thanks folks! looks like i'll just stick to the single palomar for my fishing.
  14. Hi, i know for braid i have tied double palomar knots with great success. strong and secure. For mono I have been using a normal palomar knot, which has a single overhand knot in it. the double palomar has two overhand knots. Is there any advantage to doing this for monofilament? Thanks
  15. i would go with a stradic 3000 FK over the Ci4, one, because it matches better aesthetically (red and black is hard to match unless the rod is black too) and two because the extra weight balances better with most rods.
  16. Another Sufix Siege fan here. that stuff is awesome. I use 8 or 10 on spinning gear and 12 on baitcasting gear.
  17. Green. I like Sufix siege mono which comes in a really cool smoke green colour.
  18. I use 12 pound Sufix Siege for most of my 1/2 oz spinnerbaits.
  19. whenever i had had issues with line lay, when i take it out on the water and cast the issue corrects itself. its weird. both for spinning (line more towards spool lip) or baitcasting (line piles up on one side). not sure why it corrects itself. more tension when retrieving??
  20. I love my curado 200 PG which is 5.5:1. I find that even the 6 ratio reels are a bit fast for most moving baits. The 5.5:1 ratio is perfect, spoons flutter not spin, crankbaits are easy to retrieve as are big spinners. however, they are a dying breed of ratio, at least for shimanos these days. when my 200i dies i will have to maybe look at another brand.
  21. agreed. the Ks had lots of problems with the two piece thumb bar falling apart. not sure if the DCs have the same issue but the design appears to be the same. I think the thumb bar design on the curado I's is perfect.
  22. i haven't used an VBS shimano in a while, but from what I remember I used to just set every other brake to ON and then never touch it again. Set it and forget it. I would adjust the cast control dial with every lure change though. seems to me it should be like the old ones, very user friendly. Enjoy!
  23. for the first generation yes, but the updated 2018 models are much lighter and crisper. They are much more bang for the buck. for what its worth I have the 7'5 JWR 892s and I use it for everything. I have it paired with a stradic 3000. its awesome, very light and casts really far due to the extra length. However, I just recently got it and I have yet to catch something on it up here in Canada.
  24. This. great line. Berkely Big Game is another good cheap line but it sucks on spinning gear. good for baitcasting though.
  25. i have the Loomis E6X MBR 903c which is the 7'6 MBR taper rod, MH Fast action and I love it. the extra length combined with the MBR taper is awesome.
