  1. I would agree. I have used 6 pound trilene XL in the past and it casts amazing. but if it was old and coily it wont for sure
  2. i like the trend of longer rods, my two main rods are now 7'6 and 7'5 and i really love fishing with them. but i don't like the trend towards super fast lower power reels and tend not to like the trend towards really small baitcasting reels with small spools.
  3. palomar. its amazing with mono.
  4. i would spend $10 more and get either the E6X or the regular Avid (not avid X some people hate the microguides). I own both and they are great rods. A note about the E6X the 2018 models are a lot better than the first generation models. i have one from each generation and the 2018 model is lighter and better balanced.
  5. my two E6X's both say 'handcrafted in washington state' on them. the IMX Pro's dont? All loomis rods are made there.
  6. i love the palomar knot. its so easy and so strong, and works well for everything
  7. i would give my left nut for an imx pro so thats the way I would go. i would go with the MBR903c.
  8. not addicted but i soon discovered certain after hours websites that were gaining popularity at the time..lmao
  9. for me it was a chronarch 100A, started learning in 1998. It was a Christmas and birthday present from Mom and Dad. i was hooked ever since. i was 20.
  10. i owned the Ultegra and it was awesome, one key difference between it and the stradic is the tapered bail arm where it meets the line roller. to me this is worth the cost difference alone. the line goes smoothly up onto the line roller every single time.
  11. Im an old school mono fan so I would use 8 or 10 pound Sufix Siege on there. casts well and strong.
  12. i have had good results with a few St. Croix Triumph rods over the years.
  13. I carry two setups wherever I go: 1 spinning rod and 1 baitcasting rod the biggest difference in addition to the above mentioned reasons is baitcasters are more powerful so you can easily move a big crankbait or big bladed bait through the water. Throwing a #5 Mepps for pike on spinning gear, for example, is not ideal, the high resistance of the blade makes it quite a workout on spinning gear. With a baitcasting set up, its pretty much effortless
  14. i have always wanted a bantam MGL and a G. loomis imx pro 903c
  15. for my ultralight fishing (spinning gear though), I use 4 pound Sufix Siege. can't see why this wouldn't work well here.
  16. i used to use Big Game but switched over to Sufix Siege on both spinning and baitcasting gear. its stronger and much more limp. love the stuff.
  17. All my rods are either Loomis (mostly) or St. Croix (Avid, i have a premier musky rod) with all shimano reels.
  18. i thrown them on the E6X 892S (7'5) which i believe comes in a GLX version. might be worth looking into. The extra length really lets you launch them.
  19. I would be looking at the IMX Pro as well. i haven't fished with one but i hear they are awesome.
  20. 12 pound Sufix Siege for me, i use it for all lipless cranks and diving cranks as well.
  21. i have heard that the DC reels arent very good for experienced casters. so i am hesitant to get one. yet all the new stuff seems to be DC.. i have read it is too restrictive for people that are great casters already. better for beginners who need help learning how not to backlash. any truth to this?
  22. i agree about the comment about the normal avid casting rods. I would love to see some 7'6 regular Avid casting models. good point as well about the hook keeper. the older legend extremes with the neoprene weird handle did not have a hook keeper, which to me, is like a car without cruise control - i wouldnt buy it. the after market add ons are just not the same (so they say)
  23. G. Loomis rods (all of them) are made in the USA
