  1. The Berkley Skinny Cutter 110 is a great jerkbait that doesn't break the bank.
  2. I have never used a U-tail worm on a dropshot. To me, U-tails are moving baits, its got to move to get that tail going. As others have said straight tail Roboworms are great dropshot baits. Others to consider: Zoom Z-drop worms, Biospawn Plasmatails, Yum Warning shots/Kill shots and Strike King Dreamshots/Halfshells.
  3. Yes it has been. Over 10 degrees cooler than normal highs for this time of year.
  4. There should be a sensor that detects when you step away from the urinal. It then automatically flushes itself. In other words its a hands free urinal not hands free urination.
  5. Capital region on up to Saratoga dodging as well.
  6. Kastking Sharky III $50 or Kastking Kodiak $70 in the 3000 size. The Sharky has a sealed water resistant frame and the Kodiak is saltwater approved. Both will serve you for bass and redfish/flounder fishing. The Kodiak reel has an aluminum frame where the Sharky III is reinforced graphite.
  7. I learned that I need to retire to a warmer climate. That way I can maximize the fishing time I have left. I also learned there is just so much off season stuff you can do with your fishing gear to get it ready for the season that refuses to arrive.
  8. Most of the time I reel it until it hits something. Then I will either pause or rip it fast with my rod and reel in the slack. Bluegill is a great color for clear water areas.
  9. There are a ton of youtube reviews on the Deeper. Most of them are positive anything negative is usually people that want the Deeper to be something other than what it is, a portable sonar unit that works with your phone. Or complaints about the ridiculously high priced accessories, like the bendable arm attachment for canoes and kayaks. I would get the Wifi version rather than the Bluetooth one. After doing my research I went with the Vexilar T-pod instead. Wifi and the images on the app resemble actual sonar unit readings. These units are great for Kayak and bank fishermen.
  10. Looks a lot like the Biwaa Patate with some tentacles added on. I share your concern over the tentacles and the exposed hook. I predict you will be unhooking tentacles that get stuck on it after every cast. Sorry for the pessimistic review.
  11. Rats are actually very clean animals. I would worry more about looking for any parasites in the fish than a Rat in it's stomach.
  12. It certainly is. I would hope others experience the ease of going light with their kayaks. It seems it is just the opposite as kayaks are getting bigger and bulkier. Thanks for the seat cushion tip BTW I got to get one of those purple cushions!
  13. I have last years DSG exclusive Pelican kayak, the Tracker 100. It's basically a Pelican Trailblazer with 2 rod holders and a paddle bungee. I am thinking of getting the Mustang 100 for my son as it has a few upgrades (like the removable pod) that I like. I love my Tracker. It is light (38lbs) and I am able to load and unload it from the top of my car by myself. I can put my shoulder in the cockpit and carry it from the parking lot to the boat launch with ease. Being so light it is pretty fast in the water. I can paddle circles around my friend who has a Perception Swifty Deluxe and my Father-in Law who has a Sun Dolphin Journey sit on kayak. It tracks pretty well. Carrying it to and from my car has kept the hull in decent shape. It is a multi-layer construction but I would avoid dragging it as the hull seems thin. Again the bright side of it being so light is it is easy to carry and avoid scraping it on the ground. The seat is not as bad as some others I have sat it. It is a sort of ergo-bucket seat and I have no problems sitting in it for 4 hour trips. Not much space for carrying stuff but I like to go light so it has not been a problem for me. The Pod in the Mustang would let you take more than I can though. Keep in mind it is an entry level kayak with no bells and whistles. It will get you on the water and where you want to go fast and easy. I have not had any issues with the thermo-formed hull but I keep mine in a garage out of the elements. Overall I have been very happy with mine. Every time I look at another kayak I have to remind myself of the 38lb weight of mine and it stops me from looking any further.
  14. Never really thought about it. I guess it depends on what sale I am taking advantage of at the time. If I see a great deal on a rod I will buy that and get a reel for it at a later date and vice versa.
  15. I wear browns, blues and greens when shore fishing. No bright un-natural colors. I don't know if it makes a difference or not. I take any advantage I can get, real or imagined, when fishing.
  16. When the lake is not frozen a good area to fish from is Bulwagga Bay Dr, Port Henry, 12974 There is a concrete pier with benches next to the public boat launch.
  17. I use the 4.5 Plasmatail in Oxblood color for dropshots. I find them very effective. They are durable as well. The tails can withstand annoying panfish nipping at them.
  18. I have that exact rod and have caught Smallmouth in the 3lb range with no issues. Great rod especially when it’s on sale! I highly recommend it. I pair it with either a Lew’s carbon fire spinning reel 2000 size or a Kastking Sharky II 1500 size spinning reel.
  19. My heart bleeds for Christie, it was his tournament to lose
  20. I take back what I said about the DSG exclusive Mach Crush Combo. I handled one yesterday in store. Seems the exact same rod and reels as the Lews combos sold elsewhere. The exclusive part is they reversed the colors for the DSG combos. I actually like the black Winn Grips on the DSG versions better than the original. It is worth noting the spinning combo sports an aluminum reel. I like it way better than the casting combo. It runs $160 and seems like a great value
  21. Tubes are the clear winner in this fight for me. River Smallies love a Zoom Salty Super Tube!
  22. I got the idea after panfish shredded the tails of my Powerworms. Instead of throwing them out I recycled them to Ned rig bait as they still stink of the powerbait scent. I took my braid scissors and cut the tail off. Instead of cutting straight across (which is fine as well) I cut at an angle leaving the end in a triangular shape like this ^
  23. I saw the Lunkerhunt prop baits and I was interested in the DSG/F&S exclusive prop turtle. There are so many turtles in my local pond it just makes sense to have a turtle bait. What stops me is the double prop. I think back to how many times I have to clean my Whopper Popper prop from debris last season. I would think a double prop would be twice the amount of work.
  24. Same here. They came back in my area and probably turned around and went back after the last few Nor'easters.
