  1. I get the email as well. Happens every time I log in on another device, from my PC (tablet, phone). Its a small annoyance that I put up with to get my forum fix.
  2. I wear classic Crocs while kayaking. I wear the Crocs Swiftwater leather Fisherman sandals for everything else. https://www.crocs.com/p/mens-swiftwater-leather-fisherman/204562.html?cgid=men-footwear-sandals&cid=02S#start=14
  3. I have one of these, the dropshot model, and other than a paint chip or 2 I have no complaints. It performs way better than the $50 I paid for it should.
  4. Should be fine for that. I use mine for the same. Never caught anything with the “twitching” action though. after awhile it became my drop shot baitcaster
  5. 2 for $40 is a great deal. Mine was $80 brand new.
  6. I have a Megaforce. Not the plus version which I believe has more bearings. Not much to say other than it’s an entry level Daiwa baitcaster with a gimmick. The gimmick being the twitching bar. It reels in about 7” of line with each press. Supposed to give the bait some action. The bar is made of cheap plastic and will probably break unless you are extra careful. Decent reel IMO but I would look elsewhere as there are better reels at that price point
  7. I agree. Forget the messy sprays that go everywhere in the wind and leak. The spray also comes off after the first dip into the water Megastrike is a gel. A dab between the index and thumb massaged into a bait last’s a good while. Wipe your fingers on a bait towel and you are good to go. I do believe it’s called Bang.
  8. I have had only 1 two piece rod ever break on me. It was a Berkley lightning rod and it actually broke in 2 places. First was the reel seat knob which was made of cork. I crazy glued it back together. second was where the 2 pieces joined together. Over time it splintered at the connection on a hookset.
  9. I agree. A fantastic combo for starters would be a Kastking Assassin reel with a Kastking Perigee II 1 piece rod. $120 combo and the reel is very forgiving of backlashes. Makes learning baitcasters so much easier.
  10. NY requires a title or cert of sale to register any boat 14’ or over if you want to put a motor (electric or gas) on it. You don’t need them if you intend to paddle it. long story short. I bought a canoe off of Craig’s list. Owner gave me a written bill of sale. I had no problem with that as I intended to paddle mine. Well last X-mas I got a trolling motor as a gift. I needed to register the canoe to use it and the written bill of sale was not good enough. I asked the guy I bought it from if I could get the name of the person he bought it from to get the title/BOS and he said he doesn’t have contact with him anymore. bottom line is I have to wait 1year from purchase date which will be this September so I can pay a fee and then register the canoe in my name. The year wait is to see if someone reports the canoe as stolen.
  11. You would see a Berkley Glow Stick at night even better. http://www.berkley-fishing.com/berkley-rods-casting-rods-berkley-glowstik/berkley-glowstik-casting/1405223.html#start=1
  12. Good question and one I have pondered for some time. There are few baits that don't imitate some kind of natural forage for Bass. For example: Stickbaits resemble worms that get washed into rivers ponds and lakes after a rain, also eels and snakes to some degree. Spinnerbaits have blades on them that resemble small baitfish with their shape, movement and flash. Craws resemble crawfish and also small fish laying on their sides. Lizards also resemble salamanders if your area doesn't have lizards like the northeast.
  13. I almost bit the bullet and bought a White Bird rod direct from Favorite. Problem was the cost of shipping. It turned a $50 rod to a $90 rod. I subscribed to their newsletter to get notice of free shipping days, but those days never came. I encourage you to do some research on your own about their line of reels (Check out YouTube). I don't like to bash anyone's company on these forums.
  14. I noticed their rods are available at Tackle Warehouse now. No more direct to the consumer only marketing anymore? https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/catpage-FAVEFRODS.html?from=basres
  15. My comment would be, I have no desire to own a 2 piece rod. But I own a few because of how easy they are to transport. I prefer 1 piece rods. I only own a few two piece rods for vacations we take by car. When the whole family is in the car there is no room to fold down the seats to fit my 1 piece rods down the middle.
  16. In my state if you want to put a motor (gas or electric) on a boat over 14' you have to register it. You have to prove ownership to register it. Anyone buying a used boat should ask for the title or certificate of ownership (sale) if you don't you will have problems down the road. Trust me I know. I learned the hard way that it is almost impossible to track down the original owner without those numbers. Sorry this is a sore spot for me. I think ethically the best way to go is disclose you do not have the title or cert of sale when selling the canoe. It will save some poor Joe a big hassle down the road.
  17. Only if you intend to sell it to someone who does not intend to put a motor (gas or trolling) on it.
  18. When I wacky rig a bait on a drop shot rig it is usually a 4" senko or smaller. I use that size for the exact reason's you mention as I like lighter line and hooks.
  19. I find Trick worms to long for a drop shot bait. Now T-rig, C-rig or on a Shakey head and now we are talking!
  20. I use the Palomar knot and moisten the line before cinching it. I have lost fish when using Vanish 8lb test line. I have gone as high as 12lb line and it was better. I found the line would break sometimes on anything lower than 12lb Vanish when tying a knot.
  21. I haven't had any problems. Biggest fish I caught on one last season was a 3lb,10oz Largemouth on a size 1 or 1/0 (can't remember which but that was all I was using.) and a 4" wacky rigged Yum Dinger.
  22. I have a problem with Vanish and any kind of lure. Horrible knot strength on Vanish IMO, especially on 12lb and less. Flouro would not be my first choice for topwater lures but it wouldn't be my last either. You should be fine with any kind of Flourocarbon other than Vanish
  23. I use the new Berkley Fusion weedless hooks to throw into cover. Works well in all but the thickest of cover.
  24. I agree, but way safer. After all what could possibly go wrong with an automated hands free urination system?
