  2. I’ve learned Frost proofs are not freeze proof . We had a ball valve on a back flow preventer explode at work today
  3. @Functional , I saw a river that feeds into the TN river frozen over this morning. It was open water by afternoon on my way home but almost every single creek arm of the reservoir is frozen
  4. I believe what @Jig Man , is saying, and is what I do, is flip the drop hitch over. A good example is the second pic you posted . Instead of a drop make it a lift And now that I read all the replies I realize he already cleared it up……. I make mine a rise for one of my boats and a drop for the other. Every one is different. I also put the Jack when on a couple boards to keep it up higher but that’s because I park it outside and need the water to drain out the back
  5. Nope! Which is why I eat tons and tons of white bass. Black bass are even better but have length minimums
  6. Worm on jighead is to me what Jerkbait is to you. Put a dead ringer or trick worm on there, I bet they would eat it up. And if we’re talking bottom fishing, surely you’re gonna toss some jigs??? My problem is probably a lot like yours, there’s not enough time to use all the baits
  7. Only problem there is keeping 12 inch bass is illegal almost anywhere I can fish Gross……… apparently their roe is valuable around the mid Atlantic. I saw “buck shad” for sale at reddington terminal in Philly, bout puked just thinking about eating it
  8. Yesterday afternoon we had bright sunshine and it got up to 25-26 degrees. We still have 5 inches of snow laying around but I was bored out of my mind so I had to go fishing. Went to where I knew I could catch something with nightcrawlers . Got 8-9 panfish, mostly yellow perch the size of rapalas, a couple bluegill and one shellcracker
  9. @Jigfishn10 , they just couldn’t compete with the mighty Arizona cardinals so they decided to sell out 😂
  10. @Pat Brown , I do like the saltwater trick as well but my midwestern wife and her family RAVE over fried catfish. We soak those in buttermilk overnight
  11. I also thought pike were great tasting fish, caught them mostly at the top of Minnesota on rainy lake and isle royale, MI. I also caught one in Alaska where they required any pike caught to be killed. The bones were a pain but we just ate around them with a fork , didn’t have service to look up the bone removal methods haha. Never caught a big one tho. The fish were slimy and stinky but the meat was white and flaky. I wonder if snakehead are similar? Shallow swampy type fish that somehow has good meat. I’ve never had one but reports I’ve seen say they are one of the best eating fish Side note : how fun is a fish that destroys a spoon or fluke in shallow weeds ???!!! Amazing
  12. He should be fine, he’s had more surgeries than an entire NFL team
  13. I’ve had some bad fish in my day but none of them were ever bass
  14. Google ain’t never been fishin 😂
  15. Didn’t seem to affect this guy https://www.instagram.com/p/DUJfwDEGMA5/?igsh=MWl3bG4xbWhiN3l0OQ==
  16. With a blindfold and none of the info on where it came from, I’d venture you wouldn’t be able to pick the correct origins How many of yall have eaten a largemouth bass from 90 degree water? Probably not many because you’ve already decided in your head that it’s icky. But it’s actually amazing . Tastes just like the ones I ate in Michigan cold clear water , maybe even better (no, the horror! Can’t be true even if it is).
  17. I wish we could have a drought but I think it’s impossible There is a nice coating of snow here this morning
  18. The only place I’ve ever had to treat water with drops/tablets was Lake Superior when camping on an island, apparently looks can be deceiving. According to locals it’s full of parasites and bacteria, because of the extreme depths. All we have to do is filter our ankle deep muddy water full of tasty fish
  19. Yeah but houghton is amazing. Maybe not right now but in July 😂 After all that flooding, you guys deserve some dry weather
  20. @casts_by_fly , my wife does fox hunts and it sounds exactly like your British bird hunts. Except nobody has ever found a fox 😂. They just dress up, drink, eat, and ride horses . The hounds do chase other wild animals occasionally and give the horses something to do
  21. Big bass taste good too, but there’s more meat. I’ve eaten 5-6 lb bass from 90 degree water in southern Alabama and they were equally as good as fish from Michigan and Minnesota. It’s all in your head. It seems romantic to say one is better than the other because the water is clear and cold but they are exactly the same (speaking from actual experience)
  22. It is my favorite thing in the world
  23. I’m kind of with @rboat . Is Brady the goat because of his talent or because Pete Carroll being a bonehead and the falcons totally choked ? And the tuck rule? Haha. He could have had more championship losses than LeBron
