  1. There are mussels galore in the TN river, the shells pile up everywhere. Blue catfish will actually eat them, they look hilarious all bloated with the shells inside
  2. I’ve got a dozen of them, they have great action on 4 lb test
  3. I like that. If you spend 8 hours in a row boat, your hook stays in the water more often than most people with a bass boat
  4. I’ve got 3 tents, one of them is yours for free if you ever make it down haha. I can even let you set one up on a boat dock if you’ll cut the grass………
  5. Dang, glad your able to still talk to us! A guy dumped a crude tanker into the ocoee river here a few years ago, needless to say he ain’t trucking no more
  6. Winter is my favorite time to fish. I dread the springtime, it can be kind of silly with all the boats that took the winter off. The saving grace of is that most people will use their boat about twice on the first couple warm weekends, the park it again for the rest of the year
  7. I’m usually fishing water temps in the high 50s low 60s in June, reading reports on bass resource about 70 degree water way up north. Then again, the water I fish is being discharged from the bottom of 200 foot deep reservoirs. I think those small natural lakes up north warm up a lot quicker than my raging tail waters
  8. Like everyone else said, thanks so much for the stories! I’ve got to try some hair jig w/ pork trailer one of these days .
  9. My mother in law made it here in under 7 hours from holgate on Saturday. Bring it on down!
  10. Yep. And too small to work also. You’re supposed to pay extra for the ones with the mushroom head so the fish can just snap the hook shank in half Eagle claw I believe
  11. Look what this little panfish ate a few weeks ago @roadwarrior. My buddy throwing bigger baits in the front of the boat got skunked i think every winter tourney I can remember in this area of late has been won on that soft plastic. It’s simply what they eat (where I live, in winter)
  12. You leave me be Kent!!!! I can’t hide from you in any thread haha. I knew you were going to comment on that!! They eat what’s available, and that’s what’s available, especially this time of year and in early fall. Again, I’m not on pickwick. It’s not like I’ve never tried larger shad, they work in summer. In winter, Bigger minnow baits get skunked, small minnow baits get 20” smallmouth, that’s just how it works here . I do lots of research through single line sampling ……… also look at any bass tournament held in East Tennessee in winter in the last 10 years. Damiki rig dominates
  13. I should have said the smallies “I” target haha. Those things look about perfect for size. Just for reference, I’ve got some pics of shad I snagged the other day. There are enough of these to walk across year round.
  14. I bet it will run! We had a 1957 7.5 horse growing up, it’s still running on my buddy’s boat as far as I know.
  15. Same as anything else in life, do better next time. Skunking makes me want to go fishing again really bad.
  16. Gotcha! Thanks
  17. I saw an instagram post from mark Daniels that said he was sad he wasn’t going to fish caney, not sure why he’s not
  18. Ha! Yeah they could come help me run a trap line if it’s that bad
  19. It’s a something puller …….
  20. A lot of families I know split a cow with their neighbors. Lots of small beef farms sell direct to customers instead of auctions now
  21. It helps my cause that the top of the water isn’t frozen hahahaha (although I have seen some ultra shallow coves frozen lately)
  22. Not at all! I’m just a cheapskate. It’s very eye opening when someone standing next to you on the rocks is out fishing you severely with a Mountain Dew bottle for a rod/reel. This has happened to me more than I care to admit haha for affordable baitcasters I like used abu Garcia 4600s or 5000s from the 80s-90s
  23. I don’t spend $100 on the rod/reel/line and tackle box all together haha
