That may explain part of our lack of salt success. I’ve never fished anywhere there weren’t tons of dolphins. Then again I have no clue how to avoid them people say the same thing about otters here but I think it’s more of a convenient excuse, I catch fish near otters all the time. Then again the fish can’t exit the river and run away from the otters up through the woods, whereas I guess they just swim away from dolphins in the ocean (or at least try)

Congrats @thediscochef and @Jgthomas on those hogs. I fished hard Christmas Eve all day and got nothing. I was slightly bummed that my last trip of the year was a skunk. But alas! This morning my wife said she had to drive a horse trailer somewhere here and there from 12-4, and suggested I go fishing…… happy Boxing Day!!!! to ensure minimum chance of skunking, I dug up worms in my yard and drove to the rock quarry right behind my house. I walked down to the water and realized I forgot the worms in the truck, oh well got a fish in the first ten minutes with a tiny fluke about that time, my buddy texted and said a group was going paddling. Can’t turn down paddling in late December over 60 degree weather. So I left the quarry and loaded up the canoe, we hit the river around 2:30. On our way upstream somebody saw some shad, I just so happened to have my cast net in the canoe so I netted some threadfin. They were tiny so I put two on a hook, got another largemouth. The last trip (s) of the year shall not be skunks by golly. (The worms were safely released into my buddy’s flower beds)

I caught a goby with a night crawler in Michigan this summer. After checking the legality with some other bank fishermen, I used it as live bait but unfortunately got stuck and lost it

It was that thing keeping you from catching big midday fish from the 80s until y2k hahaha

Let’s address the real problem with catching fish from 10am-3pm……….. work!!

I love seafood but I got carried away once in college. We traveled to SC as a class to look at shorebird management on rice fields. Day 1 we ate at a nice seafood restaurant and I ate all my food and everything that was left on my classmates plates too. The next day I woke up sweating like crazy and got sick all the way through 3-4 different rice plantations, thought I was going to die there for a few minutes. I’m not allergic to shellfish but I might be allergic to like 250 shellfish
