  1. I usually launch at the dam/marina but I’ve fished around tsali a few times as well. Fontana is definitely not a destination lake as far as big bass, I just love deep clear water and mountain lakes Douglas has the best largemouth fishing near gatlinburg, probably not even much of a contest
  2. I use them to catch bass!! They are deadly in winter on a jig head fishing rock bluffs
  3. I rarely hear about them being used/successful after April but I bet they would still work year round, especially because everyone else quits using them. no Doubt they absolutely smash fish in winter
  4. You’re pretty swell for a browns fan
  5. I’ve never known much and always caught some stuff. Most of it has been crawling tubes along rock cliffs but last time we chased busting spotted bass around. For the most part I only fish near the backcountry campsites my friends hike to, I bring supplies to them on the boat (and fish fillets). Here’s a nice one from this spring the girls let go because they said it was too pretty. Then they ate up the small ones and regretted it!!
  6. Yep!!! Whatcha need to know?? Fontana is quite possibly my favorite lake on the planet. It’s mostly smoky mountain National park land around it so no hotels no campers no WiFi no cell service, aka perfect
  7. It’s worse on shore than in the boat. Plenty of trout streams around here are “bring your own rock to stand on” category. And then if you start catching bass below a dam, you will be immediately swarmed and asked for your fish
  8. Beware of the red herring
  9. Yeah it happens a lot. I don’t watch other people fishing. You can’t get on a bent rod pattern without watching other people bend their rods ive got several buddies that constantly concern themselves with what all the other boats on the water are fishing/catching. I could care less
  10. I thought you said drive by someone that catches a fish. If I’m driving by, I’m not watching other boats to see if they catch fish. That’s how it all starts !!
  11. Why would I be snooping into someone else’s boat ? I never look closely enough
  12. Yeah and now when you go to take anything apart, even a baseboard, there’s like 600 nails in it. Guys go crazy with those pneumatic nailers, pop pop pop pop pop. It must be addictive
  13. More hog
  14. That always works for me too. It’s funny, they have two power poles and spot lock but never slow down and fish anywhere more than 10 minutes
  15. Sounds like Chickamauga. It’s all public water but you should respect fellow fisherman and not get close to them. The problem with Chickamauga is there’s more boats than water
  16. All of the above. I wish my livewell dispensed ice instead of water since I don’t fish tournaments. The only reason I would try to keep one alive for longer is so it didn’t die and spoil before I made it home to clean it
  17. I used to work at a golf course cleaning the carts. Procedure was pour out the beer , throw the cans away, and hose it down with pressure washer. That trash can full of empty beer cans was a constant swarm of yellow jackets
  18. Freeze gopher!!!!
  19. Well hooking them in the throat is also harmful but we Willingly cast hooks into the water. I don’t ever have Mountain Dew in the boat and I don’t fish tournaments so I guess it doesn’t really matter to me. I do know that tobacco isn’t good for anyone or anything but is magical on a bee sting
  20. If it’s wiped out, how do people keep catching big smallies? They could legally be eating them . The big old ones have already spawned a dozen times. Peak reproduction occurs around 13-17” in smallmouth bass
  21. This largemouth my buddy caught also bludgeoned a top water, it nearly splashed us on the hit. ‘Tis the season I suppose
  22. Sweet! @Bluebasser86makes some good stuff, I always get bit on those swingheads
  23. Well, some people are. I don’t think the Fertile Crescent is completely void of humans………. I would imagine there are lots of Europeans that have inhabited the same areas for a dozen generations or so as well. Define 100% native ………. Do Australian aborigines compete??
  24. Bird feeders keep me in business
