  1. I usually have about a 2 foot leader, just what somebody told me was a good length and it seems to work
  2. That’s exactly how I do it. I only keep braid on one rod and only re tie when it visually appears shredded, which unfortunately is often haha
  3. First off, you have the best memes on the forum. Kudos for that! Carolina rig is an awesome bait deep or shallow, I love it for any situation (except for tying it up after breaking one off). After much trial and error I think the hard part that will throw everything off is the hookset. It’s so hard to set the hook with all that mess. The best way to figure it out is to go fishing with somebody’s grandpa that sits on a pro pole seat and drags Carolina rigs. It’s some kind of sweeping motion that apparently takes a lifetime to master, I still lose fish with it. I don’t think the leader material is terribly important, the beauty of this rig is that the extremely heavy sinker keeps the bait ON THE BOTTOM. Constant contact is why I throw it, don’t really care which kind of line
  4. I’m not superstitious, just a little stitious
  5. Oh I don’t doubt there are much lighter and better paddles, I just know I’ve abused the heck out of mine and I can paddle all day with no fatigue. Kind of like when someone asked Herschel walker if he was tired after carrying the ball 40 times in a single game and his reply was “that ball ain’t heavy!” I’m far from the Herschel walker of kayaking but I don’t even think about my paddle as cumbersome on a 12+ hour trip that might cover 10 or more miles. I also wanted to buy several more of this paddle and have never seen them again, kind of weird. I run some trips occasionally for a local outfitter and I used a bending branches paddle that I’m sure was lighter but I didn’t notice. What I did like about it was the diameter, seemed thinner and for whatever reason that felt helpful. My boss there says he can get them on a pro deal for $80, not sure what MSRP would be
  6. I’ve never given more than $44 and I still have the first one I ever bought, still works just like it did day 1 (shorelander brand)
  7. Sounds like a keeper
  8. Well I mean free stone streams with no dams. Tail waters below dams are great in winter because of the constant water temp
  9. I’ve had very shaky hands my whole life and it’s easier for me to tie a clinch knot that open and close a snap
  10. Well, everyone in America is throwing the ned rig. Therefore they will quit biting it
  11. I think @Bluebasser86is my new favorite tackle store. The stuff he makes is very affordable and catches bass! Better quality than store bought for the price
  12. River/creek smallmouth fishing sucks when it’s cold for me. Lakes, that’s a whole different animal. They love cold water in lakes and bite like crazy
  13. I don’t think they actually care about conservation, they just want to make a dollar like everyone else. Especially now that they own and operate the biggest or second biggest 5 fish limit tournament trail in the world complete with weigh ins (the practice they failed against before purchasing FLW) sounds like a pretty talented multi task by tokahiro! In the words of the referee from celebrity death match, “I’ll allow it!”
  14. I like dragging the bottom the best, but like jerkbaits top water and rattle trap too
  15. After some poor results recently, we decided to change it up and head to the mountains today. Glad we did! Got several largemouth, a few smallies, perch and a walleye. I finally got to try out @Bluebasser86swing heads and they were thumping it pretty hard! I put an ultra vibe speed craw on it, seems like one heck of a combination. The top picture and the bottom picture are the same fish, I just wanted to display the swinghead. I tried to catch a trout with a jerkbait (perch color husky jerk) in some swift water, ended up with a bonus walleye and then a bass ate it in the current. One yellow perch hit a marabou jig and the other hit the husky jerk
  16. Hahahah! I’m guessing that area was all 10 feet underwater a month ago. You see that all the time around here, sometimes TVA sometimes private individuals. They also move around a lot, I should take some pics of the big cans upriver from downtown. Some of the red/green channel markers are hung up in logjams right next to dry land! @BassNJake, is that up the Powell? I feel like I saw that just above the dam once as well. My buddy has a very impressive collection of buoys that broke loose........ I think he’s building a shrine out of them.......
  17. I was under the impression that no one ever caught a bass before the ned rig came out............
  18. Thanks for that Dwight!
  19. My river is moving like 4 mph with leaves and grass balls floating down. Ned has been lasting about 1 cast before I lose it here lately . I’m traveling to a slower moving reservoir somewhere this weekend
  20. I know where there’s a few white bass barrels. I catch less largemouth in a year than @scaleface does in a day
  21. Yeah yeah we all know you fish in a barrel
  22. If I had to think about it that much, I wouldn’t go! I just go as often as possible and hope for the best some things in life just can’t be explained/predicted (weather/fish/wildlife)
