Classic Meet Up?
I’m sure we have crossed paths, I’ve got a camo center console but it looks a lot like a bunch of other boats. I tried to launch at island home airport after work Friday since the other ramp is under construction. I quickly remembered why I don’t use that ramp at winter pool. I live just across the river from downtown so I’m having a hard time splashing a boat near home right now. Holston river park is decent but they will lock you in there if you don’t make it back before dark

You are correct sir. It was loaded with eggs, now it's vacuum sealed and frozen! Everything was hitting a rattle trap on the fall, even the drum

Classic Meet Up?
That's what it's looking like. I use the ramp under that bridge most everyday and it will only hold 20 trailers. It's under construction now though so we will see

What a day. Brutal wind (for this part of the world) and air temps in the high 20s to start. The water temp was around 48. We had one dink smallmouth in the boat for 3 fisherman from about 9 am til 4pm. Then things got interesting for the better!!! My buddy got a nice largemouth down deep with a kietech. Then we hit a flurry of nice smallmouth from about 17” up to 21”. Rattle trap silver buddy and kietech were the baits of choice, one time I got hit insanely hard while my rattle trap was sinking, I had a ton of slack and was watching the line and it took off like a rocket. I think that may have been the 21” fish that we boated, it was all a quick blur after a day of freezing and no action

The only beds I ever see are in ponds or very shallow rivers that you have to wade

Strong Points and Weak Points
It's nothing like that in my neck of the woods, although the classic competitors may prove me wrong next month. When the smallmouth nest up on the rivers near me, you might as well fish for something else like white bass and skipjack . They usually spawn in mid April and all of my shallow water buddies success goes from plentiful to zero once they lock onto beds. This is in shallow shoals on big rivers, where prop boats can't go. I've never even seen a spawning bass in our reseevoirs, then again I haven't really hunted them

Had to go to the dentist after work from 3-4. Figured I might as well go fish off the dock, got started about 4:45 and quit around 6. Caught a largemouth on a smoke grub on second cast, yellow perch on third. Two set lines with nightcrawlers got no action. While down there I saw Canada geese, wild turkeys, belted kingfishers, pileated woodpeckers (that have made some holes in my siding.... angry face emoji) and I almost hit a herd of 13 does on my way out. The turkeys were in the treetops of the picture with no fish, making all kinds of racket
