  1. With Tom on this....7.3 Where I differ is the size of line and admittedly am in the minority. I don't have anything bigger than 20 lb and a couple with 10 lb on my casters and have NEVER had an issue with digging in. If you want to use less than 30 and are concerned, look to smackdown as it does have a nice coating which helps in prevention. Good luck
  2. The Golf of water sports.......
  3. If all things are equal, I prefer the shade, but I think there are far my important things to consider. Time of year.....water temp...thermocline....wind...drop-off...structure...location, ect
  4. Others will have more insight on this, but for the purposes you mentioned, I have a deticated 7 foot, MH E6X, with a stradic 2500. It serves me well.
  5. If I could only choose one it would be white/bone. Second choice is black. My third choice would be a silve/red, but seams the white is always where I start
  6. There are still some C14's kicking around at bargain prices
  7. Like mentioned above.....I use a lot of light wire hooks and if one goes thru the roof of the mouth and out the eye, I use small bolt cutters to cut the shank and pull from the barb to remove. Works like a charm. Also, if this happens on an average size fish, drop down a hook size.
  8. While there is a lot of we'll warranted love for shimano on this board, there are others boards that feel the same direction Daiwa. Shimano also has the luxury of being known for making tons or other top quality products in various other sports including cycling and alike. This reputation follows the product.
  9. In the NE it seams like we are between seasons. Fall is still several weeks away, but the bite is improving both in numbers and size. Week long evening Temps in the 60's has slowed lake warming trends bait fish are moving. Craw is still the meal of choice.
  10. Howdy, from Squam Lake....Central NH
  11. God love you guys, that can do really deep divers all day. These bones can't take it. The deepest I can go is 22 feet and that's Don seldomly
  12. The mcstick is a suspending that will rise with the proper line or very slow retrieve, but does to hover best at 4 feet.........I do know the the BPS knock-off will float
  13. True statement, but I don't have the patience, given it usually yield smaller fish. I have never met nor talked to anyone on my lake who does.....with the exception of my wife when she is not throwing a wacky rig
  14. A little off topic, but all the guys I fish with that have braid on an inshore spinning setups are running various types of 10 lb Braid and I have never seen or heard of them having problems with digging in. I believe those that do either didn't spool it tight or have the drag set to high.
  15. Any braid that comes into contact with the bottom or debris, get flipped at the end of the yr, thus getting 2 yrs out of them. It then becomes backing for new reels or those with mono backing
  16. I hate to say " use the search function" as it appears to be rude, but given the amount of feedback on this topic, it would be worth the time to do so. That said, the 110 has out produced any other top water this year with quality fish, regardless of time of the. I have better solutions for the 90 so I don't throw it. As far as the larger, it is situational. If you buy q get the 110 As for colors, white, black, bone..........I usually have the white tied on for daytime fishing
  17. Who can really say. I believe the the 90/10 as it pertains to areas holding fish. I don't believe that number is accurate in regards to fishermen, for the simple fact that I don't believe the numerous of experienced anglers is that high on any given lake, compared to the weekend warriors, kids on the bank and those trolling. I do believe the number may be relevant to big fish. One observation........I tend to out fished my partner on a regular basis 3/1, but I attribute it to education and experience
  18. I tie the FG when I am at the dock and uni to uni if the weather is tough. Truth be told, most of my braid is 10 lbs to 5-12 lb FC, so the Uni passes just fine Additionally, I can tie the Uni when drunk, in the dark of night, with my toes, so I have a lot more confidence with it
  19. I would also check the shaft to be sure nothing bent there....... My prop guy find damage close to 50% of the time that much damage is done to a stainless prop
  20. I don't think that fishing is that much different than most individual sports in that respect. So on that note, when professional athletes are in your shoes, the go back to fundamentals. They track their game plan and why, if so, they deviated form it. They often analyze video or retrace the situations, ect. I have worked with a few sport psychologist and have seen the power of mindfulness and mindlessness. In short, staying in the moment while competition without regard to outcome. To many this is BS, but you can't deny it's outcome. ....Back to basics ...evaluate past performance ...be " in the moment" stress free One think is certain, added stress compounds a bad situation. It's fishing
  21. Howdy and welcome to the forum. It is always good to introduce yourself and fill out your bio. It would make answering this question easier. It would also be easier if you mentioned what set-up you have. It sounds like you are a bank fisherman, that to plays into the response. The short answer to your question is that I don't think there is a quick reference to jump start your fishing. There is also no substitute for experience, so I would start with throwing Senkos. Narrowing your question may also ellisient more responses........again, welcome
  22. My buddy usually uses it for flipping and pitching based on its size, but I was throwing 4 inch senkos a country mile when paired with a M/XF GLX. Think the rod has more to do with it.
  23. In Central NH, the bite is already picking up. Temps as night have been cooler and yesterday it was 51* at day break. Think we are in for an early Fall.........if that's the case almost anything works and top water can play a bigger role. For me it is time to try some techniques I have neglected so far.
  24. Absolutely, but I haven't hooked anything but bass for years
  25. You might want to look at the owner 36. I replaced a lot of my stock hooks with them and the 35's
