  1. There are lots that use it in my neck of the woods and family members often ask why I don't. When fishing I have 2 mind sets. One is trying to catch numbers or biggies. The second is trying to catch them on specific gear. Taking the easiest route is not that fun, and that is why I doubt I will ever be tournament guy.
  2. For CB, Top water and swimmers, I have e6x's and very happy. GLX for jig and worms. Next year will be 2 more glx or NRX for lighter jigs and worms. No need to beyond e6x for CB, Top water and swimmers
  3. When I remember, I use megastrike on non worm plastics and arnice on worms, especially the BPS ones. The arnice comes as an aresol and I spray it in the bag in hopes that it sticks Heck.....if I thought KY jelly would help my ratio, I would use it! Side note, I have found that megastrike on jigs seams to help them slide through the grass easier
  4. Groups that study tagged fish in NH believe that in lakes with ample food services have fish that have no real home and travel miles. They believe that as fish get larger, the movement reduces. The is a tournament on Lake Winni where a tagged fish was caught in a cove at the north end of the lake......weigh in was in the south end. This tagged fish was caught 3 yrs in a row, all in the same spot. This spot is 7 miles away from the weigh in cove. There was also a study that represented that bass do not spawn in the same place twice. Both of these examples lead me to believe that the NH study is accurate. I do believe that lakes with less food sources tend to have fish there dinner
  5. Many are built in cribs, others on post.......look for the longer ones Also fish the boat houses....
  6. Start fishing the points toward the larger part of the lake. Look to some of the old docks, the are several as you head to George's Falls ......also, some of the submerged rock piles near the public beach has proven good
  7. The OP was talking about his buddy who has been doing this with the OP for a while.. If the buddy continues to ride with the OP, he assumes some responsibility. This point was also made in court in a case that resulted from an accident that happened on Lake Winni a couple yrs ago. The driver was deemed responsible, as they ALWAYS are, but passenger did not get damages
  8. Tom, yes I believe the TV is around 15 feet and it never occurred to me that they may not be bass as I have never caught anything but in this area. I appreciate the bait input and have it on hand. Never occurred to me......thanks
  9. The driver of the boat makes the decision and assumes the risk. If the passengers don't like it, they should not be on the boat. The likelihood of bodily injury always goes up with speed and a low end can cost you 1000's
  10. If you are looking for one setup for multiple techniques, I would reach for braid and leader. Leader could be FC or Mono, but I prefer FC. This allows you to vary the presentation. If you are concerned about the bowing that can occur on longer cast, 832 sinks pretty well, and only the surface tension is broken, your fine. I have PP, 832, smackdowwn, and Gamma Torque. If I had to choose one, it would be 832 as it is good for CB, Jigs, plastics, which is most of what I do. Given a 5 pounder is almost never seen, I use both parties pound braid, which is hugely unpopular on this site. I am sure many will chime in..... Tight lines.......
  11. Overall weight doesn't concern me as I change rigs a couple times a day, so I never really notice the weight. That said, I prefer "comfort", sometimes it is a bit out of balance but not enough to get me to sell. I find that shamano on loomis tends to really work for me.......even changing different size reels
  12. When you get out fished by your nephew and lands a 6.2
  13. 30....... As I mapped the area, most fish were in 15 ft regardless of depth This was around sunset between 6 and 8
  14. I have had limited luck with lipless CB, but these are drops, not fades, and that it why I think many guys choose to hit the grassy area. It is just frustrating as hell to see the bigger fish and not be proficient in a technique to catch them
  15. Folks, At this time of the year and on my home lake, I always have problems. There are almost no subtle drop offs. Mostly 6 ft flats then 70 degree drop to 40+ Fish are suspended at 15 these days and wonder how you guys do it. I have tried to fish parrell the bank, 90 degrees deep to shallow and reverse. Trying to use deep diving CB is difficult since I can't bounce off anything. Any help is appreciated The fish I have caught have been on wacky and T rigs. Thanks in advance Al
  16. Senior moment......fat fingers....or Freudian slip
  17. Numbers are down and they are still suspending 15 down, but one came up to play
  18. All day long......go for strippers and Blues every other week
  19. Feast or famine, used with the onset of white water or to lazy to retie a jig
  20. @Bucky205 I can't speak to waters outside of New England, but can say that we have never been better and awareness has never been higher. Truth be told, environmental publications are saying the use of senkos and other plastics are doing more to hurt fish populations than trash.....but that's another topic
  21. The pic you post when you get shutout!
  22. I am on Squam and while it can be challenging to navigate, the fish are abundant. Echo is fine, but Squam is a bass guys heaven. Winnipeg is awesome, but if you don't know the lake, you can spend a lot of time behind the windshield.........and it is busy as hell!
  23. Great point! If paired with a gunner, set up a Texas rigged senko and hang on. You can use that in most applications
  24. Most people can retrieve with either hand, but most cast with right are dominant. It is all personal, but I can SET, flip and pitch with my right, and retrieve left. All my spinners and caster are left for me. What I have noticed is that folks that have fished casters when younger, tend to cast and retrieve with the right. If a spinning rod was the primary tool, left seams to be more natural. Since there are more R's to try, there is still a tendency to stay R. Watch TV and most pro's switch hands. That said.... When working with youth that are learning to cast, they have no memory or tendency except they tend to cast R.........most of these youth will naturally retrieve L. IMHO, L hand reels will overtake R in yrs to come........
  25. Yup, but I wish there was a way of identifying it on the reward card or customer account. I must look like a military guy to some but not others at the register, but find it difficult to ask...
