  1. It is, especially since it isn’t a big soup bowl and has two other lakes connected to it.
  2. Just took a Sunday drive by what will be our new lake and I’d say we have 10-15% open water. The rest of the lake I’d guess will be open by the end of the week.
  3. The wife and I just sold our house on a lake (not a vacation home) this past fall. We were for the most part the only ones bass fishing. It was fun living on the lake and being able to walk out the back door and go fishing but we decided to cash out and build a house so we could have a basement and be able to expand. The lakes around here don’t leave you room to expand. My mom and stepdad had property on Big Bay de noc in Michigan’s UP when I was growing up. They sold because it seemed to be more work than anything. You go up there 6 or so hour drive, mow the lawn, clean up, get things set up, unpack, then you have a couple days to fish, then pack up, clean, close things up for a few months, and so on. Just not worth it in my eyes. I’d much rather get a hotel or an Airbnb and explore different lakes and scenery. That’s just me though.
  4. So there’s still plenty of ice. The big question, did you walk by, say hi, and drop a few waypoints? ? Judging by the color of ice and those clouds you’re on Lake Menderchuck. ?
  5. Not sure why we even bother making our bed. Are those ATV’s out there?
  6. I had a feeling that was coming my way from you. ? My dad has had a gorgeous lawn for since they built that house in ‘93 and he just had an irrigation system installed 2-3 years ago so it’s definitely doable without one, but I will say this, he was almost obsessive about watering it all those years. He did say after the first year with the irrigation system that he wished he had done it sooner! I’m going to get a quote for one but I don’t know if it’s going to be in the cards right away.
  7. With the house about done and the move in about a month I’ve been thinking about the future lawn. I’ll be starting from scratch, a clean slate. I’m in Michigan, the soil is sand but will have a fresh layer of top soil on it. The lot is mostly clear, but the back yard is full of what I believe are white pines (I’m not good at identifying every greens). I like having a nice manicured lawn, so how do I go about creating a nice lawn from scratch and what type of grass would be best for my region?
  8. I’ve always used my phone so I’ve never seen the top version. Geez I’m missing out. ?
  9. This is what we in the gas industry call a “crater maker” and it lived up to its name. This was on the east side of Michigan. Some of the videos of the dirt flying is pretty wild! I’ve been by a 60# main that was damaged and the sound and amount of dirt and rocks flying through the air was pretty wild! We locate distribution mains up to 300#. This was a 22” transmission main so it was over 300# and up to 1000#. Going off from the transmission mains we have around here I’m speculating this was 950#. From our conference call yesterday this crew was using what’s called a smart pig which is a device they run through the pipe to clean it and check for weak spots in steel gas mains. Thankfully no one was hurt or killed. https://www.wxyz.com/news/us-23-closed-in-both-directions-near-fenton-as-consumers-energy-investigates-gas-line-break
  10. Heck Mike, you raise your prices on Rage your prices will be on par with everyone else’s price from 5 years ago so don’t feel bad. ?
  11. Will you please explain that to the pike in the waters I fish?
  12. Week nights we’re in bed by 9-9:30. The wife can fall asleep mid sentence. I envy people who can fall asleep quick. I’ll usually watch a bit of tv trying to unwind, but I’ll be out by 10-10:30. Saturday night I’m out by midnight at the latest. Heck last night I was out by 10. I’m a party pooper. ?
  13. The rain here is putting a nice dent in the ice for sure. I’m not sure on the thickness of the ice, but it’s getting the dark color to it so I’m guessing it’s getting pretty thin. I did see a few geese walking on a lake yesterday so it’s at least safe enough for them. ? To be quite honest with myself I’m not sure when I’m even going to make the first trip. We’re scheduled to close on the house 4/15, so the next month, month and a half are going to be pretty busy.
  14. Yup my bad. The CT was my first Daiwa reel a couple years ago I got on sale from Midway I think for $100-110.
  15. Wasn’t the CT $89 a few months ago ?
  16. I’m perfectly fine with it getting dark here at 5 in the winter because there’s nothing to do here that time of the year. I prefer getting up early in the morning to go fishing during open water season.
  17. Yup their sunglasses are great. One of only a few brands that fits my pumpkin head.
  18. I will say mine is less frequent than it has been when I started this thread. For me it was several times a day, now it’s maybe 1-2 times a week, if that. So it has gotten considerably better.
  19. Mine says (beta) then asks to sign up for an upgrade. Hope this helps.
  20. Perfect day and time to go, you can get in free and it’s usually pretty quiet early the first day.
  21. They’re actually tapping trees down here. While the temps are going to be in the 50’s this week and even get up to 65 one day is promising. However I saw a couple quads on our local lake Sunday so I’m guessing my prediction and hope will come and go like it does every year. ?
  22. If it’s going to rain soon then I’d say yes, absolutely, but if you had a couple days of dry weather I’d go with a regular mortar mix so you have more time to get it in every nook and cranny. disclaimer: I’m not an expert
  23. I truly feel everyone should do retail at some point in their lives, preferably at a young age. My first job was working the sales counter at our local lumberyard. You’ll develop patience and thick skin real quick trying to sell contractors lumber and hardware at age 15 when you have no clue what you’re doing. I’ve always been a patient person when it comes to other people (maybe except for when I’m driving but even then I just yell at my steering wheel ?). I always give people the benefit of the doubt and I always trust people until they give me a reason not to. It’s both worked in my favor and screwed me over, but that’s how I roll. I’ve carried this over to my management style. There’s only been one time I’ve yelled at an employee and he started in on me first and I bit my tongue so many times before.
  24. Hydraulic cement is some good stuff but you need to be quick with that stuff! I think 3-5 minutes is a bit of an over estimate. Ask me how I know. ?
  25. Well it’s better than throwing square bails around. I never had the luxury of a tractor and round bails. It seems that the hay would always show up on the hottest most humid day too, all 300 of them! I don’t miss that.
