  1. i have a built in pool that i spend hundreds of dollars dumping chemicals in every year. hardly anybody gets in it. i test lures in that thing all the time. jerkbaits, practice walking a frog you name it.
  2. i have one. i like it for cranks up to 10 feet or so. topwaters etc.
  3. in my experience ( what do i know) they wont go far. they may stay put or may move deeper but the wont go way back to deep water. its just a matter of trying to get them to bite.
  4. i fish the susky often , from a kayak. i tell people all the time you better respect that river. she will kill you in an instant.
  5. in the next couple weeks these reservoirs are gonna explode. you should be able to catch all kinds of fish around shallow cover.
  6. the slugo absolutely hammered fish 30 years ago and under the right conditions it still will today.
  7. i dont bed fish. i have nothing against it, just doesnt appeal to me. im sure ive caught fish off beds with a wacky rig but i didnt see them.our lakes arent usually big enough to have a lot of pre and post at the same time as spawners. although there are some.i will try to catch prespawn fish. if i cant find them ill crappie fish or go to a smaller lake and catch post spwaners.
  8. spot lock can work but then the trolling motor is off on off on. alot of people think that can spook fish in shallow water. for me they arent worth it because of the way our lakes are. i could easily be sitting in 10 to 12 feet of water and fishing in 3 or 4
  9. i like both but i like the frittside better.
  10. definetley need at least a little wind in my experience. if its flat calm the swim jig seems to do better
  11. i use them a good bit. they dont floatlike a zman bait but they are more neutraly bouyant. meaning on a drop shot they stand out straight but dont rise nose down. theyre good on a shakey head too. the tail stands up.
  12. xzone finesse slammer. grandebass airtail wiggler.roboworm
  13. i use alot of white like others have said but i do like a bluegill pattern from pepper custom baits. i use it around the bluegill spawn and in lakes that dont have shad. siebert has a bluegill color that looks very similar. maybe give one a shot
  14. i have 2 new ltb rods but not those models. a 7ft medium spinning and a 7ft medium heavy casting. nice rods. better balanced than the old ones good sensitivity etc.
  15. heres the thing for ME im not saying its what YOU should do just some things to consider. im 53 a make about 120k a year. not a ton of money but im not starving. i have a reasonable house, a 7 year old truck in very good condition that i bought used 2 years ago.i didnt want to pay the ridiculous new prices because i only use it for hunting fishing or when it snows. i have a 9 year old honda civic that i drive to work every day because gas is outrageous. i bought my 18 foot tracker used and pretty much stripped. tiller steer amd nothing else. over the last 5 years ive added console about 10 k in electronics ultrex built decks with aluminum sheeting storage etc. i did all this a piece at a time as i could pay cash for it.i have zero credit card bills . only my mortgage and a truck payment.i put 18% of my pay in my 401k every week.could i have bought a 70k dollar truck and a 40kdollar boat? sure. but i hate putting money in things that depreciate.is it my dream truck? no but it runs perfect. is it my dream boat? no but i have a great time in it.the point is these things are a hobby and a luxury. make sure you have your ducks in a row and have some emergency money stashed away. dont over extend yourself because you need to keep up with your neighbors. as soon as i am eligible for medicare im done. not working one more day than i have to.
  16. 2 things. number 1 i learned a long time ago with hunting and fishing stuff. wait til you can get what you really want.if not you wont be happy with what you get and will end up spending more in the long run to get what you really want. number 2 I WOULD NOT. put anywhere near that kind of balance on a credit card but thats just me. I would get a used kayak or cheap boat and fish out of it. also since theres more jobs than people to fill them i would consider a prt time job. something related to something you enjoy and put that money strictly in the boat account.
  17. mainly grass. milfoil. although when the fish get shallow in spring its wood.late spring through fall our lakes have grass out to 15 to 18 feet. there are always fish in the grass. in midsummer through mid fall there are also fish on deep rock piles or brush piles. now when the rock piles lie right outside the weed lines that can be a gold mine. as far as structure there are some humps, deep flats with steep drop offs channel swings etc.

ive used them but honestly catch more fish on the 4 inch. i think it just has more action
  19. this is what has me thinking. do i wanna put my money into ffs or would i enjoy 360 more.I dont fish big time derbys just local weekend stuff sometimes. im not really interested in staring at the screen chasing suspended fish. what i would really like is to know exactly where my brushpiles, rock piles etc are . im i hitting them on my casts. i want to see little points cuts hard spots etc in submerged grass.
  20. 7ft medium legend tournament st.croix. 2500 stradic spinning reel. 15 pound braid 1o pound flouro leader.
  21. i use vmc and the berkley fusion in1/16 and 3/32 for river fishing . no complaints.
  22. yamamoto d shad hands down
  23. true.also my dakota rep told me on my trolling motor battery that they are warrantied based on cycles. Meaning how many times you charge and discharge. so he said dont charge it unless you need to. so I fished for 2 months without charging and still had 50% charge left. on a standard boat lead acid can still be viable due to price buy on all electric boats like i am forced to use lithium is a huge advantage if you can afford it.
  24. i run dakota lithium on my all electric boat. thats 5k worth of batteries but for the loss in weight and gain in speed its worth it. they run way longer than lead acid and last for more years. i have a battery shunt that gives an exact readout of remaining amp hours current draw etc. i also have the bluetooth app on my phone. the price tag hurts but i would never go back to lead acid.
  25. i fish out of my kayak all the time on the susky with a torqueedo. the point forme isnt to make it a boat. its because i fish by myself alot and the motor allows me to go upstream from my launch however far i want to then drift back down and paddle across the river to hit different areas. when i get the chance to do a shuttle float with a buddy the motor stays home. one less thing to worry about.
