  1. Gonna give the Fat Ika a try this summer. Found them on E-Bay. I hear the best way to fish them is t-rigged backwards and weightless.
  2. I just bought some Parasite clips and weighted clips that I'm going to try for this and T-rigging worms. Heard about them in another thread. Should prolong the life of soft baits.
  3. I'm giving Sufix Advance a try on some of my BC. Will see if it's the best of both worlds like it's marketed. I'm like @Scott Fas far as spinning goes. Just can't improve on straight braid because of its manageability and casting distance.
  4. Really something to consider. And I fish small lakes. Fortunately all bass don't spawn at once so I would think that one could focus on deeper water techniques.
  5. Recently saw a Scott Martin episode where he was fishing with his dad. Roland couldn't turn around without having a Favorite logo displayed on something. Money talks and Roland Martin is exhibit A. Remember U.S. reels?
  6. That's what I understand it to be. Would be perfect size for most applications. I'd get one at that price except that I've got too much now.
  7. I foul hooked a good sized carp the other day. I just make believed I was at my buddys' in Fla. fighting reds. It's all fun.
  8. Probably not. A wobbly rotor sounds like a loose rotor nut. Would also mess with the handle rotation. What reel is it?
  9. I know you're kidding but there is one thing different about it. I ordered a 90 mm handle with the bigger knobs from the XG. Smoothest reel I've ever handled. I'm trying some Sufix Advance to see if the hype's true.
  10. When the going gets tough the tough get going. It's 42 here and I'm going fishing. "Bundle up" and get out. Actually it was 70 here a couple of days ago but those temps just show up briefly this early. The bird chatter is picking up. Spring's coming.
  11. I stick with light braid for spinning. Being a shore fisherman distance is important. The very occasional tangle is offset by the benefits.
  12. I'm mostly a spin fisherman but this one's special.
  13. Had the same issue with my 2500. Absolute pain to deal with. That tiny nylon washer is almost impossible to remove. For all the good things I've said about these reels this issue is a real nuisance.
  14. E-Bay has a lot of JDM 2 piece rods. Just pick your manufacturer of choice and scroll away. Major Craft has some good stuff as well as Shimano. Welcome to the forums.
  15. We'll be 68 on Thur. But then the wind will blow 40 mph, shift around and send us back in the 30's. That's March in Indiana.
  16. I'm primarily a Shimano user but I've gotta say, at least on the spinning side that Daiwa has some really good stuff. I've got two Fuego LT's and for the price I don't think you can beat them.
  17. Really enjoyed reading this. It just reinforces my belief that everyday guys with hands on experience are much better information sources than high profile pros who are mouthpieces for their sponsors. Really doesn't reflect topic but your experience brought it to mind.
  18. Thanks for making this winter all the longer for me with all your pics. LOL Our time is coming soon. At least I've seen lots of action. More fun in shorts and T-shirts, though.
  19. Same here. We've got way too much stuff. I find that the less I have with me the more fish I catch and vice-versa.
  20. I'm guessing your lakes have a sloping contour without any real steep breaks. I do real well with a ned rig on a very light head (1/32-1/16) with light line. Keep it moving slow off the bottom and you should get bit.
  21. This. Simple as it gets. I have a roll of cheap electric tape for just that.
  22. I'm almost 65 and I cover anywhere from a half to two miles when I fish. If you're on the bank you're not going to know what's on the bottom except for what you feel anyway. You'll sense depth changes by your lure drop time. Look for activity. Sometimes on my waters bass will seem to start chasing bait at the bank all at once then stop. Cover some ground and enjoy. Always something new to learn.
  23. You say it's a pond so I assume you can walk all the way around it? I fish such lakes and given the fact that I'm shore bound also it doesn't take long to get to know them from experience. Fish it and you'll get to know it.
