  1. Nice!!! ?
  2. Me & a buddy started discussing old fishing line brands we used growing up. It's been so long ago I can't remember what I used as a kid - whatever my Dad had & spooled on my Zebco 33. Prob ole purple Stren. But back in the mid 80s, my Dad & I stumbled upon a new high tech line called Prime made by DuPont. Anybody remember this line? It had an inner core line that was supposedly stronger with less stretch and was coated with a normal type of nylon line. It actually was pretty good stuff as I recall & it's what I fished with for most of my college years. Until it was hard to find & was discontinued I guess. I even found an old article about it from back in 1985. http://articles.mcall.com/1985-08-06/sports/2487033_1_monofilament-line-baits Thinking about this fishing line got me to feeling nostalgic. I can remember lots of days back then that my Dad & I would hit some gravel pit ponds. I'd have my trusty 5 and 1/2 ft pistol grip rods with Abu Royal Ambassador reels. I'd wear out the dinks using fire tail & tequila sunrise Culprit worms. 60 catch days were not unheard of. Times sure seemed less complicated back then. And I'm officially starting to feel old. ?
  3. Oh boy. Not what I said at all. As has been mentioned earlier in this thread bass can become conditioned, which I take to mean they will not bite certain lures, or at least not as readily. I def think that happens which is why heavily pressured lakes have lower catch rates - we all hear about this all the time. And I've seen it 1st hand in my own neighborhood pond. I've fished cranks out there so much that I can't hardly get em to hit those anymore. I've had to switch up to more finesse techniques.
  4. Dang, you're catching some nice ones. I didn't even make it over to Cville on Sunday. My uncle backed out on me due to some family stuff. Looks like I need to hit Johnson.
  5. ????? Maybe what a lot of pros mean when they say "smarter" is they really mean "conditioned". Like saying the big bass are smarter is just the good ole boy or easy way of saying they're conditioned to not being fooled by a number of artificial baits. I dunno. I think one thing we can all agree on, big bass are definitely harder to catch.
  6. Yep. It is sad. And it feels like a never ending & losing battle. I dunno how many times I've picked up trash around our neighborhood pond while bank fishing, only to go back next trip & find more trash. Yesterday I picked up a whole wad of fishing line somebody took off their reel or broke off. My feet got tangled in it walking along the bank. But it's not a losing battle if we respectful ones keep doing our part. Imagine if we didn't.
  7. Doesn't the KVD 2.5 go a little deeper?
  8. Looks like ghost already answered. But there are 2 diff sizes of The Egg. The smaller one is about the same size as the baby 1 minus, but it is a little heavier so it casts a little better. The large sized Egg is about the same as the full sized Mann's 1 minus. I mostly use the smaller Egg. Big thing is they're a little cheaper than the Mann's baits. Good colors too.
  9. Yeah, the one on the right def doesn't look like red shad color. It looks more like plum or something. Might be time to find a different brand if red shad is your go to color.
  10. Sending you a pm.
  11. Switched to tackle bags about 15 yrs ago & haven't looked back. Most modern tackle bags offer a much better system for organizing tackle.
  12. @WDE and @Angry John Either of you yahoos gonna be around this weekend? I'm thinking about heading to Collierville area maybe Sunday afternoon.
  13. +1 on The Egg. Started fishing it over a year ago & find myself tying it on more often, even before a Baby 1- at times.
  14. Very nice! I'd fish with that in a heartbeat.
  15. @Senko lover Great story & thanks for sharing! Thanks also for helping out those kids. Looks like the future of bass fishing is in good hands. And it is most definitely better to give than to receive.
  16. This bait has been my go-to and favorite crankbait for awhile. I can't seem to find another that produces quite as well in shallow water conditions. I've had my best luck with it during late spring thru fall around shallow, sparse vegetation. Best retrieve has been to burn it & pause, kind of like lipless crank fishing. Like you said, every once in a while, I'll get a bait that I can't get tuned just right & it'll blow out when I'm burning it. I set those aside & give em away to some kids I know. Def need to change out the trebles to something better.
  17. This is the only lure I fish with.
  18. Zoom ultra vibe speed craw Zoom magnum craw Berkley chigger craw
  19. YES!!!! Go to Texas. And take me with you.

I agree. I still thoroughly enjoy days where we go to a lake that's all about catching numbers. Still fun to tie a mini rattle trap on an ultra light & try to catch 40 dinks in 2 hours. ?
  21. 1. Baby 1 minus 2. Zoom Super Fluke or GY Senko (tie) 3. Redeye Shad 4. Shaky Head w/straight tail worm or ultra vibe speed worm 5. Rapala Skitter Pop
  22. Lol. I almost suggested looking at St Croix.
