$200 Bottom Bait Rod
Definitely! Falcons are to us Texans and Southern boys like SC is for you Northern fellas. Used to be All Star also, but they sold to Pure Fishing.

Topwater/Jerkbait rod Fenwick Aetos vs Mojo
I like the longer rod/shorter handle option because the handle is comfortably out of the way when walking the dog or giving the lure action.
-
How long do you keep rods?
Yup! Still have all of my Original All Stars and bought up a few more before they sold to Pure. Love those rods and can't see selling them or getting rid of them. When I got deeper into freshwater fishing I went through a lot of rods and makers before I settled on St Croix and Falcon. I have given away a lot of those other "tester" rods but still have the ones I like because I like them. I've had the guides stripped and re wrapped on a few and like A-Jay said, feels like a "new rod". I would say feels like the same rod, only better in my experience. When a trusted rod breaks, it does feel like a kick in the gut! After a time of "grieving" there's always the "Whelp, time to go shopping for a replacement!" moment!

Found a deal on a St Croix inshore rod.
Yup, almost same rod was my first frog rod and doubled as my DD22 rod. Now have added hard swimbaits to the list, but rarely fish the bigger ones (2 ounces and larger) since I've been fishing SK King Shad more and more.

Costa Help
I've got 580P Silver (copper lenses with mirror front and back) and love them. Had Solar Bats when that meant something. Had a pair of 580G 8 years back, but sold them pretty quick. Had Wiley X in service and now glass just seems heavy and uncomfortable. Getting 580P in Green Mirror this year.

The Adventures of Catt & Pat!
I don't like the look of it.

Cabelas
Academy is my go to most of the time for "brick and mortar". The associates don't always now much about fishing but they can find who or what you need most often and they are many around. Also, you can't beat that feeling when your $100 rod and $80 reel ring up for $60 total at the register! "Are you sure?! You're sure!?! Ok!" My close second is BPS in SA and Katy, TX. My local BPS here in Colo Springs has left a bad taste in my mouth. I can't even order something on line and pick it up at this BPS without some type of headache. Been ordering on-line more and been ordering from BPS less. A far third would be Cabela's, DSG and Gander Mountian. Cabela's just doesn't have the tackle selection of the others. Or, to be more specific, they don't have the type of tackle I like or need. Sometimes they do have things I like (southern pro, Rapala, Cabela's house brand, etc..) and if I can't find it somewhere else or can't find it cheaper elsewhere, I will get it from Cabela's. Gander Mountain is about the same, but they are getting much better down South. DSG is a joke down here. Other than the big boxes, I support the mom and pop places whenever I can. If you are in Houston, TX or want to support a "little guy", look at Fishing Tackle Unlimited.

Hi from south texas
Howdy, neighbor! I from just across the bridge and fish the Middle Coast every time I get. I'm almost back closer to home and while I don't often fish Lake Corpus, Colette Creek and Choke Canyon I do often fish black bass just north of there.

Why do dark colored plastics catch fish in clear water?
That's it pretty much. You're probably fishing around craws or the bass in that water feed heavily on craws. A lot of the water I fish around SE CO is very clear and I do very well on green pumpkin w/blue flake because most of the crawfish here are those colors most of the year. I also try to match the bottom like A-Jay said up top because that has been my experience almost universally that prey will try to camouflage itself with it's surroundings, but if I know what color the prey they are eating is and water/wind/light conditions will allow I will "match the hatch".

What is a good jerkbait with a reasonable price
If you don't have a clown color Rogue, I suggest you get one.

Spinning Reel Shootout
Shimano spinning reels just don't fit my hand and Pfluegers do. I have Trions for my kids, wife and loners. I have Presidents and President XT's for myself. Use them for panfish, black bass and inshore for 2 decades and have been stellar the whole time with just a little maintenance. I wish they still came with the spare spool, but other than that, love my Pfluegers!

Yup, that's what I've got but with 4lb Trilene XL.

Proper leader length
I don't flip but I do pitch and it is often in very clear water. Green braid straight to the jig for me.

Bobber slipping out of place, advice?
Oops! Forgot to mention the second kind of fixed, at least that I know off. It's the kind that most of us know of and have fished with and tha we see from manufacturers like Thill. It's the spring type fixed bobber. With this one I usually wrap my line once around the lower shaft and secure the loop in the notch before lowering the spring.

7 ft. - minimum - BFS casting rod
Thank you. Well, I have a SC Rage 6'10" MLXF and I have rigged it and fished with it with line as light as 4# and with a 1/16 jighead with a 2" Kalin Crappie Scrub (back when you could get them that size) and have pulled nice sized LMB and Spots off of a deep gravel to sand transition. It has produced well for me these past 3 years.

Rod of Choice
I had tried the "normal" braided lines before on my sunfish/crappie casting gear, but had very little success and didn't much like it. I tried Nanofil this year and was amazed at how well it performed. As you mentioned, on the 6'9" SC Panfish the Nanofil casts MUCH farther and are far more sensitive than even my favorite mono. I still like mono around a lot of brush and othe harsh cover situations, but I prefer to fish the Nanofil when I can.

What's "bfs"?

Bobber slipping out of place, advice?
If it is a fixed bobber, there are two types that I know of. The first is the one mentioned above. With the "push button" style you either have to run the line thru both top and bottom clamps to make sure it stays put or make a type of float n' fly rig and tie a three way swivel, clip the bottom clamp onto one side of the swivel and tie a length of line to the other swivel and add on shot and/or hook/jig.

Rod of Choice
The previous BPS MicroLite Graphite rod series was my absolute favorite before I tried the St Croix series. I still liked them and would highly recommend them before the went to this latest generation. Haven't tried them yet and probably won't. I really liked the handle and reel seat of the previous generations.
