I have never used or seen a Kastking reel. Are they a a quality piece? This may sound unusual but I have never had luck with mono on a broadcaster. Braid has always been much more forgiving!

You may want to loosen up the drag on your reel. With that hook in your lip the hole could get pretty big. As long as you are not fishing with the family's milk money relax and consider yourself blessed!

Anderson Arms AR is a very good entry level piece. Clean it, practice and by all means ignore all that carp about being lubricant free! CLP, or equivalent is an AR's friend!
