  1. I had a hard time answering this question. In terms of facts, I know literally hundreds of bits of info. from reading books, but haven't really applied them successfully on the water yet. But in terms of actually fishing, I have learned more on the water. I answered Books because I have learned more information from them but have learned more techniques by fishing.
  2. The reason the paperclip didn't show is because my pic didn't show up, although I can see it on my computer. Don't know how to fix it.
  3. How do I get my post to have the little paper clip icon next to the title so people know there's a pic?
  4. I'd like to know more about it.
  5. Here's what Fish Chris said, "I truly believe that at some point, in maybe say, 30 or 40 years, there will be a critical breaking point, at which SO few people are anglers, that they simply won't have enough power left between them, to stop fishing from being outlawed altogether... I know its a lot easier for a guy to "see what he wants to see" {believe me, I'd love to believe that fishing was going to be around forever} but at some point a guy just has to face the unpleasant facts!" Although possible, I can't see it happening, at least not in Florida. In Florida alone, I read somewhere that recreational fishing brings in around $1 billion a year. If fishing were outlawed altogether, our economy would lose so much money, not just in Florida, but everywhere. What would replenish it? Also, by having to pay for fishing licenses and other fees, we keep up the nation's waterways so that they are clean, healthy environments, and there are a lot of people out there who believe in protecting it. Then we'd have to create another tax to keep the enivornment up, something that licenses take care of. Also, Florida is surrounded by water on all three sides and boasts some of the best fishing in the world, so I doubt it could ever be outlawed here, but in other states, maybe. I'd hate to see it happen some day, but I don't think it will. If it does get outlawed I'll still be out there fishing whether it's illegal or not, and might go so far as to move to another country to fish.
  6. It seems that you all need more information to better determine what I should do. Here's my eating schedule: Breakfast: a bowl of cereal Lunch: Sandwich, chips, some kind of chocolate, and fruit (cherries, grapes, apples, strawberries) or vegetables (celery or broccoli) Snack (after lifting): Fruit and/or vegetables Dinner: Pasta, chicken, hamburgers, or steak (along with some veggies and stuff) This "diet" isn't one I've designed for myself (well, I haven't designed one yet), it's just what I've been eating for pretty much my whole life. I don't know if it's good or bad.
  7. I just got back into working out for the past month and have already added 40lbs to my bench press and other excercises, and my muscles are getting bigger/stronger, but I haven't gained any weight. I've been eating twice as much lately and still don't weigh as much as I should for my height (I'm 6ft 135lbs). For those of you who work out, is there a certain eating program I should be on, or any protein-type shakes that might work to help me gain weight and/or help build more muscle? Hopefully someone can give me some ideas. Thanks.
  8. I never listen to music while fishing for two reasons: 1. I don't feel like taking my cd player on the boat. 2. If I have headphones on and am listening I can't concentrate on what my lure is doing or detect strikes as well (I have tried listening to music while fishing once). The only exception I make is if I'm saltwater fishing off a pier in which case it's no hassle to bring a radio/boombox along. But if I'm fishing from a boat or shore it's too much to carry a radio with me.
  9. Don't know if you all have seen this from the latest Bassmaster or not, but for those who haven't, take a look at these percentages: 1. 4.2% decline in number of anglers from 1996-2001 2. 11% decline in days spent fishing from 1996-2001 3. 17% decline in total expenditures from 1996-2001 (these percentages are on p.24 of the latest Bassmaster magazine) We need to do something about this. I thought fishing was gaining in popularity, not declining. A recent poll here on BR on this topic showed that most voted it would increase in the future: What do you think fishing will be like in 10 years? http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1166820490 What's going on? I suppose it could be gaining in popularity NOW considering the fact that these percentages only go from 1996-2001, but based on just the numbers it sure seems like the sport isn't taking off all that much.
  10. Please, it sucks having to listen to the game on the radio. If anybody knows a site where the game is being shown live (if it's being shown live tonight anywhere), please post it ASAP!
  11. Sweet! That's an awesome picture.
  12. I was just wondering if any of you have fished senkos wacky style with a weight, and if so, was it effective? I tried fishing a similar bait (Tiki Stik) weightless and it is WAY TOO SLOW. I just don't have the patience to fish it like this and would prefer to fish it with a weight. Will these baits such as the senkos and tiki stiks still give plenty of action and catch fish when used with a weight?
  13. Nice job RW! Hopefully you can post the video here on BR once you get it done.
  14. Congratulations! Sounds like you did an excellent job at figuring out what the bass wanted. That's some good fishing.
  15. Can these things actually catch fish?
  16. I always opt for naturally colored trailers that match my jig.
  17. I've only caught one bass this winter and it was on a t-rigged worm.
  18. Try fishing a worm REAL slow. You can t-rig it or try it weightless, whatever produces. That's what I recently caught a bass on this winter.
  19. Rumbal, if you mean the bass is just beneath the surface, like an inch or two under and it's alive, I would toss a weightless senko past the fish and then real it in right next to it and let it sink. The slow fall of a senko wiggling enticingly might just be enough to draw a strike.
  20. The good old fashioned plastic worm. The bass will never grow wise to it like other lures and they will pretty much always bite it.
  21. Looks like a great bait if you want to catch snakeheads ( I wouldn't want to).
  22. Yep, it's still a really nice river and it's hardly ever fished so the fishing is pretty good. I always practice catch and release in this river so the fishing will remain good and hopefully even improve.
  23. I never stop bass fishing. It doesn't matter what time of year it is, the way I see it, there's always a chance at catching some fish, even when conditions are tough. I fish in Florida by the way though. The temp rarely gets cold enough for me to stay indoors.
  24. I thought you just get your license after you've had your old one for a full year. Is it supposed to be done at the first of the year even if you haven't had your other license for a year? I live in Florida.
  25. It's been at least two months since I've caught a bass, but I finally broke my cold streak yesterday. I went fishing on the Withlacoochee River near Madison and Lee here in FL. The bass I caught was small (about 12 in), but it was still fun and after going without a bass for so long I'll take what I can get. I caught it on my trusty black Zoom Trickworm t-rigged. I also caught a bluegill about a pound on a Rebel crawfish. It was kind of a slow day but I at least managed to catch two fish. I also got some decent pics for my art class because I like to paint landscapes, despite the fact that I fell into cold water and almost lost my camera :-/, but overall it was a great day .
