  1. X2. It makes for slow fishing most times, but you can't beat a jig for a good hawg hunt.
  2. It's quite simple really. Case in point, my favorite soft plastic that I'd been using since the mid seventies, and still do, was always rather cheap compared to others. I use to be able to buy it bulk, 100 ct bag, from the company. Then some pro, who happens to be sponsored by the company, breaks some record down at Falcon Lake using this bait, and the price for a 20 ct bag jumps almost $2 overnight. Oh yeah, I can no longer buy the bait bulk. How many of you, I wonder, watch a pro win a tournament and you start searching for his winning baits. Oh yes, they make money off their sponsorships. On the other hand, it also promotes innovation, and that's always a good thing.
  3. Look out Texas!
  4. Had a bottle tip over in my lap. I'll never use it (The J.J.s) again.
  5. One cold Injun! Anyone seen my gloves? (Imjin River, 2nd Infantry Division)
  6. Karaoke/Grill-Out at @slonezp's house this weekend!
  7. The bluegill around here should start spawning anytime but I didn't see the signs last time out, maybe the cold fronts are slowing them down. Bass spawn first and then the bluegill follow up mid to late April. They (bluegill) will spawn more than once throughout the summer.

  9. My boat sat unused in the garage for 3 years after I got my first kayak. Finally sold it and have never regretted it. Being able to get into spots I could never have taken the boat turned out to be a major bonus. Keep your boat, I like being a yak driver.

  11. Most folks recommend this ratio. https://paddling.com/learn/staying-put-keeping-your-kayak-still/ I almost always use a stake-out pole, so I'm never out anchoring deep, and I've learned how to manage my 15' line. That being said, should you decide on anchoring out deeper in the wind using the ratio mentioned in the link, make sure you consult with the right folks who have developed instruction on proper use and setup. I will PM you.
  12. This reminds me, I need to check the frog box.
  13. I get by with 15' and I know folks who use more. There are many videos on YT that cover safe operation and use of anchor trolleys and I highly recommend you review these if you're new to using them. (Yak positioning and ability to quick disconnect are crucial skills.) I also use shorter lines that I can attach to trees or other objects protruding from the water using clamp/claw-like devices.
  14. Anchor trolley, stake-out pole, you learn to adapt. I can see myself sitting in a pedal drive one day, but for now I enjoy the paddle.
  15. A brisk 2 mile run up to the Green Ramp followed with 30 minutes of Rifle PT, then a 2 mile shuffle back to the barracks to cool down. "All The Way!"
  16. I've used the Gantarel Jr and like it. Hoping this Bream Slide is as good, if not better.
