HydroWave
I'm not thinking about getting one, but I read a few articles this morning before work, and a couple of the them mentioned HydroWaves. One article went as far to say a HydroWave is necessary to do well consistently in tournaments. What are your thoughts on the HydroWave, do you think they really make that much of a difference? I don't know anyone personally who uses one so I really have no idea as to their effectiveness.

Fishing alone
That is also part of the reason I'm picky. I got tired of people committing to go. Only to get to their house at the arranged time, to have them either not wake up to answer the door/phone, or have them answer only to say they were to tired. I don't ask for any money and I would always tell them, I'm going regardless, and your extra weight isn't gonna cost me enough extra gas to matter. Or I would give them a time to meet and their response would be. That's to early, how about 10am....I'm like dude, its summer in the south, its gonna be 105 degrees by 10am.

Fishing alone
I'd say its about 50/50 for me. I either fish or alone, or with my brother or dad. I'm picky about who I bring, because there is a fine line between having someone to talk to, and having someone who never stops talking. lol

Another fish finder post. Help!
How is the clarity on the Garmin side scan? That’s about half the price of a similarity spec’d Lowrance.

So I did it: I forgot to put the drain plug in.
Welcome. I’ve probably done it twice in the past 10 years.....man it’s so embarrassing....not the worst tho. worst I’ve seen was the guy didn’t tie his boat up good and it floated away from the dock...he had to get a ride out to his boat....if that happened to me I don’t think I’d ever be able to show my face that boat launch again.

Bass Location(Largemouth)
Sounds pretty similar to Pearl River system that I also fish. Similar pattern for catching them to. The location mentioned in the original post more shallow marsh, water is generally less than 10ft deep. Usually by this time, there is so much grass that the water that the water gets pretty clean. It's usually not hard to find em, you throw a senko in the holes in the grass at dusk and dawn and you can catch a bunch. This year there just isn't near as much grass as usual. My theory is the the late winter cold weather that came thru wiped out what little grass was still left. The lack of grass has kept the water so much dirtier than it normally is this time of year.

Punching Questions
As thick as they are here right now.....Punch rig weighted with a cinder-block. I prefer punch rig for hyacinth.

How to detect a bite?
I agree. It's probably easier to learn to detect bites with a tx rigged worm than a jig. I find in general, a bass will hold onto a worm or other soft plastic much longer than a jig. Gives you more time to detect the bite and set the hook.

How to detect a bite?
I was jig fishing Friday and I didn't feel any of the bites. Every one that bit would bite it on fall, then swim straight towards the boat. So basically if I started to reel and I felt no resistance at all, I know i had one on. To me, this the worst kind of bite, because it takes longer to take in the slack because the fish is B-lining straight towards you.

Lowrance (Awful customer service)
I've had nothing but good experience with their customer support. I have emailed them with questions about my unit, they usually respond within 48 hours. Also, when I first bought my unit, I was having issues with the sonar image. I called Lowrance and spoke with someone in customer support, they diagnosed it as a faulty transducer and mailed me a replacement. Whole process probably took 30 minutes. They paid the shipping, and I didn't even have to send them the faulty transducer, they just told me to throw it away. I can't tell you who I spoke with in tech support, I don't remember their name. This is the number I called though. 1-800-628-4487

6’6” or 7 for spinnerbait
I use 7' or longer for everything except for my drop-shot setup. I think my spinner bait is currently tied on a 7'2".

J Francho Is Famous!!
As a network administrator I can totally relate. Stuck behind the desk all day. Worse part is, when I ask my co-workers/vendors what they did over the weekend, its usually like "oh, I built a mock network at home using old routers and servers that I've been collecting"...and I'm like, yeah.....my weekend was nothing like that, hahaha.

Topwater Chasers???
This is like asking, who needs air to breath? ? I love a good top water bite, nothing better than working a ribbit frog over some grass only to hear the slurp and watch it disappear.............now I wish I was on the water........

What to look for buying used trolling motor
I 2nd this. I recently upgraded from 12v to 24v, if you have the room for the extra battery. The upgrade is well worth it and super easy to wire up.

Just can't catch one...
That will hopefully bring you some success. I just used my first dropshot setup a couple weeks ago. Fishing a shallow navigation canal(about 8' or less on average). I did pretty well, it was a hot day but the fish would still hit that dropshot if I left it in front of their face long enough. Seemed like multiple casts to the same spot, then letting it sit was the key. Its so much fun catching bass on the lighter setups.

Bass Location(Largemouth)
One of the areas I fish(Tidal system), the water is significantly dirtier this time of year than it usually is. Usually by now, visibility is 1-1.5' or maybe a little better if you get around a lot of grass. This year, there seems to be less grass in general and we have had a good bit of rain lately so the water is pretty dirty, I'd say visibility is about 3". When it comes to water clarity, it seems like in general bass will go up shallow and tight to cover when the water is very dirty. At the same time, high water temps will drive bass deeper to find stable/cooler water temps(surface temps are 88-90 atm). This leads to my question, which do you think a majority of bass choose in dirty hot water? Do you think they opt for the shallow tight to cover spots in the hotter water, or do they sit in the dark murky deeper water where the temps are lower and more stable, but little or no visibility?

Most fish ever caught in a season ?
18 DD bass in an hour?!?!?! I would have died of dehydration in my boat, from the excessive amount of tears of joy streaming down my face.
