Trolling motor for 8ft. Sun Dolphin
Get as much battery as possible. Because whatever you think will be enough, won't ever be enough. Most of the time we don't turn on the gas motor and only use the trolling motor and we pack 3 giant interstate batteries in our boat at a time. Just in case. Because I promise it sucks a lot paddling back in a monsoon when we could've trolled back 10 minutes previously

Lure flew off during a cast...
Because it is still breaking at or near the knot.

First Tournament
Drop shot, shakey head, jig. They should be setting up on deep flats, humps, and drop offs. Throw a frog early in the vegetation then find a good deep piece of structure and catch em big!

Was I in the wrong as a Coangler?
I agree with both of you. I can see why he said something to you about it and I can also see why you thought you were in the clear. But as long as you guys didn't have any confrontation and got on the same page then, no harm no foul. Lesson learned from both of you

Curado K vs Okuma Helios TCS
Not particularly. I do like the magforce z brakes on my 6 Tatulas. I can skip better with theses than my curado. Granted I haven't tried to skip much with it.

Curado K vs Okuma Helios TCS
They're just not my favorite. They are well made, reliable reels. Just prefer daiwa. I have a 200I on a spinnerbait rod It feels bullet proof.

Curado K vs Okuma Helios TCS
Hard to beat a Shimano. Although they aren't my favorite.

What should I use to peg sinkers with?
I prefer bobber stops, just because they are cheap and I know they work.

Trying out the Daiwa Fuego rod
I'm glad my rods have held up the way they have. Not saying that I won't go out the next time and break some inserts and guides. But for $50 I didn't expect much anyway. But I'm a sucker for full cork handles.

Dobyns fury 702
Yes

Best finesse rod under $100
702 is what i would use if I used spinning gear for dropshot
-
Best finesse rod under $100
It's the exacting opposite of what you said. Dobyns run about a half power lighter than what is listed.

Setup for light/finesse baits in heavy cover?
I believe @fishnkamp s wife has a dobyns 705 spinning rod that she used for frogs and heavier jigs and really enjoys it. Maybe he can chime in on the specifics.

Comparing Some Jig Rods
Very much so. super soft tip them you hit back bone about 75% up the rod.

Comparing Some Jig Rods
7'4 heavy. I've thrown everything from senkos, traps, spinnerbaits, jigs, carolina rigs, and buzzbait on mine

Baitcaster: how to keep lure from going so high
Its not the rod. It's what's holding it. Work on your mechanics and technique. I can cast senkos and other weightless plastics with a mag heavy power rod.

Baitcaster: how to keep lure from going so high
You know they make rods lighter than a medium, right?

What is the ultimate 1/2oz Jig combo?
I don't buy combos for more than $250. And don't spend over $25 On a spool of line. And never pay full price. Always on sale. So in my experience Dobyns fury 735 Daiwa tatula sv 7:1 or 8:1 Sunline Assassin 17-20lb I have 2 of these exact same combos. And with them I fish pitching, swimming, football, and skirtless jigs from 3/8 to 3/4 ounce.
