  1. I wouldn't fish against you if you were fishing in a bath tub and I was at lake fork.
  2. I'm gonna go with "or" I'm a big fan of the fogy from @Siebert Outdoors site sponsor. The football head is surprisingly snag resistant in grass and wood.
  3. I would suggest a 664 or 704 dobyns fury with 30-40lb braid. Its not going to do One thing amazing but it will do a lot of things decent enough to get you by. The fury's run a little softer (power) and a little slower (action) than rated. With the rods I listed above you could throw squarebills, medium divers, and lipless cranks decently. Texas rigs, jigs, spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, and topwater it will do very good with. Hollow body frogs and soft body frogs it will be good enough. Especially with using braid. For a reel I would suggest a fuego ct in a 7 gear ratio.
  4. I'm a braid to leader guy on almost every set up. I use big game as a leader though. I'm not convinced that fluoro is that great. I gave it a fair chance and have resorted back to a mono or copolymer leader. I don't use a leader for visibility as much as i do for abrasion resistance which is why I chose a very hardy line like big game or cxx.
  5. The 7'4 jig rod in the sr series is a beast!
  6. Use your fingertips to feel the line
  7. Rod and casting mechanics are 90 percent of casting distance.
  8. About $2500 $100 dollars a horsepower
  9. My biggest is 7.2 and I freaked out when I felt the pure strength and power of that fish and after it tail walked I may have been on some type of natural, spirit of the wild type of high. I have only had one bass fight harder and that was one around 6.75lbs. Can't imagine what it's gonna be like to catch a 10lb northern strain.
  10. Anything rage tail.
  11. I'd put the bb1 and curado in the 7'9 and 7'11. Just for line capacity sake. But if rather have a 5 or 6 speed reel on those for swimbaits and cranking deep
  12. What else Do you use the 734 for? It may be my next rod If I can see what people are using it for
  13. Great in a chatterbait too. One of my favorite all around baits. Nice That it will hold a 4/0 Flipping hook so it makes it a good pitching/punching bait
  14. Fun day up at merom today. Caught about half a dozen. It was fun flipping trees in 25 feet of water 10 feet off the bank. About 300 acres was 85 degree water. The other 1200 was hovering near or over 100 degrees
  15. 734 with 40-50lb braid and you can fish just about anything besides super heavy and super light lures.
  16. Poppers and jerkbaits come to mind first off. Depending on how slow the moderated action is it could possibly be a good drop shot and neko rig rod
  17. Great read! That record will never be broken.
  18. Anybody fished turtle creek at hoosier energy lately...or ever?
  19. I carry 3600 boxes when I'm out fishing. For soft plastics I organize by hook size or rod/line used. For example my 10" worms, big lizzards, 7" senkos all go in one box because I use magnum ewg hooks with those. Jigs i sort by size and color. 2 colors of each size, 5 Jigs per color. Trailers get their own box, swimbaits, and craw trailers. Flipping and punching baits get their own as well. 2 boxes for cranks, 1 for hooks and weights, 1 for frogs, and a soft plastic binder for chatterbaits, spinnerbaits, and buzzbaits. I carry way too much tackle!
  20. Just don't let him borrow stuff
  21. Wasn't a fan of my alien gear holster. I prefer slimmer kydex. I like "on your 6" holsters out of Texas.
  22. Hopefully headed out on the big stratos this weekend. If we don't catch any at least we'll have 225 hp worth of fun.
  23. What you are referring to action is actually power. Action and taper is the amount of bend the rod has. Extra fast, fast, moderate fast, regular, moderate, Slow. People, and even companies confuse these a lot of times.
  24. I like a 6.4 gear ratio with a fairly high line capacity.
  25. 7' mh lews tp-1 speed stick for skipping Texas rigs and jigs up to 1/2 oz for me.
