  1. Glad to hear you filled your limit. Not sure what you were drop shotting, but I have found that a lizzard On a drop shot is killer at night and day
  2. I use a dobyns fury 735 or a falcon bucoo 7'4 heavy for jigs. They are both solid rods.
  3. Maybe they didn't want to eat a jig or spinnerbait? Maybe they werent in a mood to eat? Maybe you alerted the fish of your presence and they got weary? Getting a big fish to bite again quickly after feeling a hook is near impossible. Too many factors to boil it down to one certain thing.
  4. Despise Spiderwire. 832 and power pro are some of the best. I really like kastking and daiwa j-braid x-4 also. But of the 3 you listed power pro would be my choice.
  5. The 7'3 heavy fast is a meat stick. You could punch with that rod. I use it for frogging heavy mats. I have used it as a jig rod and didn't like it for anything less than 3/4 ounce. The 7ft mh is a good jig rod in my opinion. The 7'3 mh/m is a crankbait rod. It wouldn't make a good jig rod
  6. Tp-1 all day. Own 3 if them. One of my favorites.
  7. A lot of times there is a slow period after sunset and before sunrise. It varies spot to spot. Ymmv
  8. 3600 of whatever is on sale when I need them.
  9. Just because it's night doesn't mean the bait or baitfish change into loud thumping black objects. Try fishing what techniques and colors you have been catching them on during the day. A jig, dropshot, Texas rig, and spinnerbait are some of my favorite night time baits. I avoid things with treble hooks like poppers and walking baits.
  10. That's surprising. Usually cabelas is the highest place around for fishing gear. With bass pro not far behind. Sucks for the casual fisherman because they don't know any better.
  11. I keep my color choices simple when it comes to plastics and jigs. Brown, green, black, white. Head color I don't worry much about. Black or matching the skirt is fine by me. I like to accent the jig to match the "hatch" by using the color of the trailer.
  12. Keeping your bait on bottom. Rate of fall you're trying to achieve.
  13. More of a 45 degree angle. Not completely sideways like a crank, but not straight up and down like a t-rig
  14. I struggled at first with plopping frogs. Changed my hookset to more of a reel and hard sweep instead of a "frog" hook set and my land percentage went up. Make sure your sprinker has good sharp hooks if you change to the less aggressive hook set.
  15. I fish a wobble head like a crankbait. I fish a shakey head very slow/methodical. Two completely different techniques for me.
  16. Love both dobyns and falcon but for the techniques you listed i would choose the falcon.
  17. How do you know they are active?
  18. Do you known how to walk other baits? Like spooks? If so usually smaller twitches, but still giving the frog plenty of slack line is the key. If you don't know how to walk other styles of baits then try with something bigger like a 5 inch spook or similar walking bait. Then work yourself down to frogs.
  19. I have one of those after 7 rods and it is one of my favorite rods to throw finesse jigs on. Usually don't leave home without it
  20. That Bucoo is gonna fish closer to a medium heavy than a heavy. Not sure on the weight of the swimbaits you mentioned but id feel comfortable throwing a 1 ounce bait on my 735's
  21. Not sure what you're asking. But if you're asking if you can put 65lb braid on a reel then attach that reel to a rod and use frogs with it, then yes you can. As long as your rod has the backbone to drive thick diameter hooks into fishes mouth.
  22. My father's day present from my wife and kids. Absolutely love it.
  23. Terminator pro series
  24. Love my falcon Bucoo sr, daiwa fuego, and denali rosewood
