  3. Love my lews tp1 speed sticks. Either the 7ft mh or 7'3h are my favorites for what you listed. The winn grips are nice.
  4. I throw 3/8 ounce swimjigs with a 5 inch grass pig on the back. I trim the skirt slightly and unevenly to make it pulsate more.
  5. I don't think you'll be disappointed in a tatula ct. Have 4 all in 8.1 gear ration and plan to add a few more in various retrieve rates. I feel like for $98 bucks on an auction website with free shipping the tatula ct cannot be beaten. The t wing system is cool (although I don't know how much of difference it makes) and the reel casts like a dream with little to no problems. I can make a 30ft pitch and then turn right around and make a 45 yard cast with no adjustments to the tension knob or brakes.
  6. I always dead stick a drop shot with a popping pad crasher jr tied on. One of my best producers....
  7. Following, really wanna throw that spro king daddy!
  8. I haven't watched that particular video, but I'm with Oregon Native, do as Glenn says! Lol
  9. Mojo rigged senko. Feel for structure/bottom change/depth change, then go to your confidence bait.
  10. The reel handle knobs confuse me, but it looks nice.
  11. To the op, I have 3 kastking royale legends have had them for 2 yrs. The 36 dollar ones. And although bulky compared to my tatula ct's they have been solid reels. Have used them for every application that I use. I prefer them as a swim jig/spinnerbait reel and also have one on my frogging setup. The other is used as a spare spooled up with 50lb braid in case I need to use braid instead of fluorocarbon on my Texas rigs or jigs.
  12. You answered your own question. Mono or copolymer leader would help tremendously. It will still wrap here and there but nearly as much. I use 10-15 pound p-line cxx. 10 For poppers, 15 For walking style baits. Its stiff and strong. I also use an fg knot which is a great leader to main line knot for me personally.
  13. Heck yeah! That's awesome. What a great god-son and friend you have.
  14. I've never fished out of a boat that has any kind of electronics besides the trolling motor. My search bait in deep water is a carolina rig. I'm not necessarily searching for fish, but places that hold fish. I'd be spoiled rotten if we had a fish finder on our boats. Shallow I like to throw a chatterbait around "fishy" looking spots and then switch to some sort of jig or plastic if it's not producing how I think it should.
  15. Absolutely correct! I fish 3 bodies of water in southern indiana that are private but over 80+ acres. I feel that fishing these and learning things about catching good fish consistently has helped me with my pond fishing. And Most importantly it has given me the confidence to feel that I can catch the biggest bass in whatever body of water that day on the biggest of baits because I have done it with success in the more gifted bodies of water that I fish. But regarding the big bait big fish theory, the last tourney I fished that was true. 7lb 2 oz fish on a 10.5" worm, 6lb 3oz on a MAGNUM rage bug, 4.5lb or a rage craw, our other 3 came on a spinnerbait and were all close to 3 pounds.
  16. Right I get that part. But I took it as he was spooli g the line and the spool quit spinning. Like it locked up
  17. Although having more than a few combos as a bank angler isn't necessary. It sure makes it fun having combos that do stuff great. And being technique specific
  18. I am bank bound besides the 5 Or 6 times I fish a tournament a year. I have 11 technique specific combos. I usually take 5 or more combos with me but leave 2 Or 3 in the truck if I plan to do a lot of walking. I usually plan out where I go fishing and what should be working and what I need for that body of water. I fish places I'm familiar with which helps me with that.
  19. I don't think straight braid would make the spool stop spinning mid line fill.
  20. Most of my combos are 250 Or less. With 1 being 280. And that is my jig rod. I love fishing jigs which is why I bumped the budget up a bit. Wish I would've told myself not to spend so much on a treble hook combo and spinnerbait/chatterbait combo because I realize I don't need a super Awesome combo to do these things. But out of all my combos a 145 dollar one is my absolute favorite. Its my finesse jig rod with a daiwa tatula ct. Really really think about what you need over what you want. If I would have I wouldn't have 10 combos and fish 4 of them the most while the other collect dust
  21. He doesn't give bad advice. He's not out there drop shotting a hollow body frog catching 30lbs on 5 fish. Basing your success off of his success is where people need to stop and realize he does fish private water that holds giants and he does fish in Alabama where the fish grow larger than say indiana.
  22. Frog, swim jig, Texas rig.
  23. I feel like you are being over powered and the fish are wrapping you around structure Or taking you into rocks and your line is fraying. Another possibility is line/knot weakness. If a big fish makes a hard run and your knot or line are not in tip top shape it could be breaking the line.
  24. I grew up about 30 minutes from patoka, never have fished it. My uncle fishes it a lot. He is a wizard at fishing deep and I believe that's where he has been slaying them. I'd flip timber and drag a jig/rig deep. How close are you to patoka. I'm about an hour southwest of it now
  25. Just got about 40 minutes on the water after a long night at work. Hit a little drainage pond. I've made comments about not liking topwater as much as the next guy but I regret saying that. Threw the popper around on my jerkbait setup. 10 fish. all were smashing it. Awesome little quick trip. They liked it when I'd make it spit with short pauses.
