  1. What hook? Is that a 90deg bent to 30? I ask because thats what i do. You get some really good wobble with that head.
  2. I’d prefer to keep those nice $ cost jerkbaits over a 20” hammerhandle pike swimming off with a mouth full of trebles. 🤣
  3. Year wasnt quite done after all. With the christmas day rain the water temp jumped from 38 to 43. I made the executive decision to slip out of work early (don’t tell the boss) and Its worth working until almost 9 when I did get home.
  4. Added the blade. Painted the back gold glitter.
  5. This has been the best fall to winter transition I have ever had. I found THE SPOT this year (I new it was a spot just not the numbers continuing into December). Days of 6-8 fish in 15 minutes. 20 fish days. Nothing huge but a couple nice ones. I finally really hot on the hair jig, and a tube became a staple for me. . I would imagine Illinois winter will finally rear its ugly head soon and with it the river will ice up. Very fun and looking forward to spring.
  6. Rage ned bug is my normal finesse go to. Appendages dont really float though, not that that was a criteria when i originally asked. I was curious what other suggestions there were. Seems like alot of different preferences.
  7. 1/0 owner 5313.
  8. I should mention 45df water down to freezing
  9. What trailers you guys and gals suggest for this jig. 1/8oz w/rubber/silicone skirt. Im looking for trailers outside of pork or a mini chunk.
  10. this is the paint i use. If you want a lighter coat epoxy with any sort of glitter would be the way to go. Also there are some nail polishes that work. I dont like how they streak and never settle out though. I use that more on jig heads. https://www.amazon.com/Krylon-K03805A00-Glitter-Blast-Starry/dp/B005574J4G/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_sspa?crid=218HALJW9EWMH&keywords=krylon+glitter+spray+paint&qid=1703257479&sprefix=krylon+glitter+spray+paint%2Caps%2C197&sr=8-1-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9waG9uZV9zZWFyY2hfYXRm&psc=1
  11. I fish both x-rap and husky jerk. I base my selection on fish mood and water temp. The x-rap produces in the summer when the bass are more active. The husky jerk is a cold water bait for me. The tighter action coupled with suspension is why i like it. I will say not all husky jerks suspend like the are supposed to. Even with a fluero leader. A small piece of suspen-dot will remedy this without affecting action though. This is my only complaint on them.
  12. I just buy a piece of sheetmetal and draw out a blade. You really need a template to trace. I cut them with sheet metal sheers. The edges are serated but that doesnt really matter. For me i just did it to see if i could get them to work. I dont know that it would be economical unless you had a cnc machine to cut them out for you.bur ot is fun to play around with. I’ve been told to do it both ways. That one being so light, when i had the bend forward it was blowing out of the water. I was bending it around playing with the action. The real issue was using such a small hook, there really wasnt alot of room for the blade to hunt.

  14. I’ve looked at those. Let us know how the perform.
  15. It was a game changer when i upgraded from a AA vice. I expected the o-ring to break but its still holding strong
  16. I have an griffen odyssey spidervise i have tied up to 1oz spinnerbaits w/out issue.
  17. I beleive the gami big river sickle is a heavier wire version sickle. I could be wrong though. Barlows gives wire diameters and 1x, 2x etc. they also show size comparisons. Based on what im seeing w/the #2 10111 the 2/0 may be about right. 🤷🏻 1 thing to remember the sizing varies by hook model. 1/o 2/o etc is not standard across brands or even models.
  18. I just picked up the victory 10111 #2 and it definitely has a taller eye. I was hoping i could use it in my light wire walleye and mushroom head molds. Based on the length though i had to do some grinding to expand the eye cavity. It works in the smaller sizes but the hook eye juts out pretty far. Im always leary about that when it comes to snags but ive been thinking that actually might be a benefit around rocks and wood. It would be more of an issue with weeds. Im building the jigs for rivers though so that isn't a concern. i hAd to do some serious mold modifications to the 1/8 oz mushroom head to get everything to fit in. Ofcoarse i am not using the recommended hook for these molds, they call for a lightwire hook. I am tying bucktail or skirt material though so i dont care what the collar looks like.
  19. Ive been playing around with making my own minis. Using .018 and .022 thick hobby sheet metal. Im still working on it. Problem with a direct connection to downsized hooks is less space for the blade to shift back and forth. I did have some luck with one in 55-60 degree water but then i went away from it when the water cooled more.
  20. Been playing with spinnerbaits of the short arm variety. that classic rubber fire tiger pattern is quite the sexy cougar. Its going to get a custom firetiger painted blade if it isnt careful🤣.
  21. Im sure thats the case i just got fustrated and gave up for now. Now being 2 years lol.
  22. If you figure out what you did let me know lol. I have a lews lsf i took apart that does the same thing.
  23. Forgot that part. Works for me as well. Definitely want to do it outside. That sucker is gonna smoke.
  24. So i have the mushroom head mold and i too have this issue on occasion where the collar doesnt fill completely. I find this can be a couple things…. Hook size used, quality of lead, heating up the lead and mold more. One thing ive found to help assuming you are using a bottom fill pot. I try to knock off any lead exposed outside fill nozzle and immidiate put the mold fill hole as close as possible to the nozxle before filling.
