  1. I've had some good topwater days in lower water temps during warm spells. Although, I'm pretty sure I could have caught more fishing a jerk bait, but topwater is my addiction
  2. Glad to see Justin Lucas doing well. He's had a tough stretch the last few years
  3. Man, I've missed pro fishing
  4. I agree. That early morning time is peaceful and I love how everything comes to life. I'm glad I can appreciate what mother nature has given us
  5. Skeet probably poured some sand in the motor They are fishing the same creek
  6. I have Bill Lowen he's leading the event Sorry, Bill you are going to get jinxed. Happens to all the guys I pick
  7. You can tell that dude loves to fish. He'll fish several local tuesday night dogfight tourneys on Chickamauga Him and his wife have won a few Not only talented, he puts in the work to constantly learn and improve. I hate that stupid flat billed hat though, way more than I should probably
  8. Nothing I can add. Just wanted to point out all the great information from @Koz This is what makes this place so great!!
  9. When we fished electric motor only tourneys in Ohio We had a 101lb thrust 36V on the front and an 80lb 24V on the back of a 16 foot Crestliner Wanting to go even faster, I bought a second 101 for the back It didn't help, the extra weight slowed us down and the cavitation from the front motor affected the ability of the back motor to get a good bite IMO That being said now that I only use a front trolling motor, I'd never have one smaller than 80lb thrust
  10. Instead of trying to decipher what JT and Marty were trying to explain- heres the payouts
  11. I think Luke is the only one with a chance. Ike has a classic win but not a forrest wood cup. Iaconelli lost the bassmaster classic in 2009 by 11 oz to Skeet Reese, then lost the Forrest Wood Cup to Greg Hackney by 3oz. That was a heart wrenching story to watch unfold.
  12. Yep, you are correct. Mark Rose with a 9lb2oz bass yesterday, so he's in the big bass lead. I thought I heard them say on todays broadcast that Ehler had the biggest.
  13. Norris has been a nightmare. But its not like Cherokee, Douglas or the other lakes along the TN river are any less crowded.
  14. Anybody watching this? Ehler has one for 8lb 6oz, so far that's the biggest and leading the $100,000 Big Bass payout. I didn't see any over the weekend ... cuz I was fishing.
  15. I might have to rethink my overall weight based on the 1st day for the FLW toyota guys on Eufala Looks like Randy Howell's son Laker is in 6th after day 1.
  16. I thought I was gonna see my wife's name as the thread starter Why so many rods? Why so many lures? Why so many spools of line? Why so many excuses for not catching fish ..... J/K my wife is awesome about my bass fishing addiction as long as her and the kids come first!!
  17. I have been fishing more. I am able to work from home which saves me about an hour and 15 minute commute on the way home. Yesterday I got off at five and launched the boat 15 minutes later. It's a nice treat as I generally only fish mornings.
  18. I have to wear more sunblock now that I live in the south. I feel obligated to wave because everyone waves down here As far as fishing goes, its the same. You fish as light of a line as you can get away with in the clearer lakes with more finesse tactics. As the water darkens, the gear and baits gets upsized
  19. Nope, not me. The Bassmaster Classic is the biggest event in fishing. I'm watching and just as excited regardless of who is there. There was a lot of talent that signed with the USFL. I still watched and was excited about the Super Bowls because that is the biggest event in football.
  20. I throw an alabama rig with 2 teaser baits and 3 baits with hooks (TN law) I always have one of the baits a different color It's probably about 95% of the time the different color bait will get bit, doesn't matter which bait it is. I was catching some using chartreuse as the off color with 4 shad colored baits. After a few fish I switched and had 4 chartreuse and the shad color is the one that got bit. The cast after the shad colored bait got bit a black and blue colored bait got bit So in that situation color matters,it had to be different than the rest I'm throwing white or something with alot of silver flash when the shad spawn is on So color may matter a little more in that specific situation You'll always have exceptions where you'll catch one on white in muddy water or catch one on black and blue in clear water. But as fisherman we are trying to find what works 9 out of 10 times not that one time.
  21. I'm throwing my toad down the shoreline and there is a squirrel combing the same shoreline I make 3 or 4 casts and he is unfazed I get a big blow up and that squirrel jumped about 2 feet in the air Sure wished I had that on video
  22. I just had to do this on the water Saturday. From the looks of it, I need to check more often.
  23. In my younger years I passed a guy kinda aggressively on the freeway, somewhere down the road I get caught behind a semi and he passed me in the slow lane. He held up a dry erase board that said F@#! U with a smiley face Always get a chuckle when I think back to that and all the messages he must have wrote out.
  24. Saw this today as well. Awesome news for the competitors and even more so for the fans BASS should have been doing this for awhile.
