  1. Heres an update. I spoke with a TWRA guy at the lake Saturday. They said they have had reports of guys cheating and some complaints were filed but they did not have any evidence. He called someone to ask what kind of boat was the team driving with the dead fish? A blue Phoenix!! So I guess the guys I saw had 2 6lbers die in the livewell They weighed a 4 something and 3 line burners. The TWRA guy said they had a big fish die at Douglas a few weeks ago as well. I pointed out to him the area I had seen the guys and the cooler and bucket I found in the area later He said they would do all they could and assured me they would get the book thrown at them, if caught.
  2. Largemouth is the girl you want to take to a party, Smallmouth is the one you want to make your wife
  3. This an excellent suggestion. I believe that is run by MLF pro Michael Neals family. My old tourney partner swore by a guide named Chris Hight. https://www.facebook.com/Fishinvol/
  4. No braid, No mono either. If he threw a topwater that would have broken that tie. Also notice no "crappy white rods" either ?? Besides the jig I throw the rest on flouro too.
  5. Must have been a special at the buffet
  6. I've got a love hate relationship with that lake I go a couple times a year to the Chick but have never got anything bigger than a six. I've been in the boat when 3 different 8+ lbers have been caught. I will catch a big one out of there and when I do, it will be glorious!! lol

  8. Hope that you get a link to fish this. Beautiful lake. Way back in the day when I fished my first BFL as a co, I got linked with my pro for the rest of the year. My experience is that their were more pros than co's at most events. (could have just been the divisions I fished too) Call/email the tourney director, I have always found them to be helpful and reach out after a few days. I had some events I wanted to prefish but had no boater and they linked me up a couple times with boaters just to prefish with.
  9. Yep, those are lifetime memories being made!!
  10. Glad to hear you are feeling better. As fisherman we always know there comes a time to cull for a better fish. Looks like you were able to do this in life as well. Best of luck!!
  11. Love green pumpkin and copper Another favorite is Smoke Silver-Black and Gold
  12. I'm with the full disclosure crowd. I also have absolutely no problem with someone that chooses not to disclose specifics. Either way, I enjoy the hunt as much as the catch Telling me where to go and what to use is kinda the opposite of the freedoms I am seeking on the lake
  13. hahahahahaaaa After their small fish showing at the weigh in; I'm guessing thats what happened. Should have left it in the cooler for the real cheaters?
  14. You know, there's probably a very legit reason for a big cooler full of water on an empty lot
  15. I've seen some red ones, this one was blue. Glad it didn't turn out to be some cheaters. Sure as heck lined up like they were. Cooler is on an empty lot. Been catching them on topwater later in the day as it warms up. Been catching them on a crank earlier in the day. Been casting a lot more than catching though
  16. Forgot to post this story ... I'm out early Sat morning and across the cove watch a sweet Phoenix boat with 2 power poles pull up on shore. It's pretty early so visibility is not 100%. One of the guys gets out and he's carrying a bag but he keeps looking around to see if anyones watching. The guy in the boat is messing with the livewells as he's got both lids open I happen to catch a fish and get a little distracted. When I look up the guys are pulling away and I see them stuffing the bag into one of the boxes About an hour later I make it to the other side of the cove to see this is where they were stopped As you look closer you can see the large cooler and the 5 gallon bucket I stopped and the cooler is filled with dingy water. I know I just caught some cheaters in the act, freaking ticks me off BIG TIME!! I went to the weigh in and guess what, those guys in the shiny new Phoenix weighed in 4 fish for just under 8 pounds I swear someone had to be cheating but it obviously wasnt these guys
  17. I use 2 hands to cast and prefer to use a backhand cast. I have a 16 foot boat and 7 foot rods. I would often smack the console when casting right handed (these make for the best bird nests too) This forced me to use a backhanded cast Like anything practice is the key to getting better Doesn't have to be limited to on the water practice Casting in the yard helps a lot
  18. Thats awesome Good luck and enjoy!!
  19. Did you carve the weights on the back as a reminder?
  20. I just went the extra step and provided a picture. You know how they are worth a thousand words and all ...?
  21. You'll need some sort of aeration system
  22. Those amazing days are what drives us to fish thru the days of dinks. @Bird had that amazing day on the water and managed to stay out of the doghouse at home. That is what I call a very successful day!!
  23. In my areas it seems business as usual, tourneys on both Sat and Sun I saw a couple of jet skiers, they start to show up around 60 degree water temps just like the mosquitoes There are a few pretty big plants close and all those guys seem to be at the lake all week It might be busier at the boat ramp near me now than it was before. I'll update with a total number at lunchtime on a Monday. My guess is no less than 25-30 trailers in the parking lot ***** there were 28 trailers in the parking lot, some were pontoons****
  24. @Ksam1234With all the attention being drawn to your great deal, BUY NOW!!
  25. I buy quite a bunch of stuff from Ebay. I have had a couple issues but Ebay was quick to intervene If you click on the feedback score you can see more specific details You can even see what was said on the negative review
