I feel this line is somewhat underrated as I have had nothing but success with them. Hooks seem sharp and have held up to grinding on the bottom. Ive got a 25.5, a 14.5 and a 8.5.

When I lived in Ohio we had a lot of lakes with weeds and i liked to crank at that time. So I bought these lures from the Meat and Potatoes lure company that came with a single hook on a crankbait that dived to about 14 feet. Only caught weeds with that thing

I was on a pretty good deep bite with a crankbait. The next week I was marking fish but they were in 25-30 feet of water. Couldn't buy a bite on a jig, drop shot, texas rig or a carolina rig with a worm I tied a lazy ike on the end of the carolina rig and caught a bunch of bass that week in that deep water. Have tried many times since and never gotten another bite.

Why is it that they always out fish us? I always tell myself it's because I'm a good guide .. hahaha

Great write up with the pictures to show exactly what you are referring to. Does not matter if its a small pond or a huge lake these tips are things that we should all be looking for on our own bodies of water.

I too am chasing the double digit bass. 3 trips a year to Chickamauga and I'm confident I'll get one in the next 20 years. However, I'll never forget the time my tourney partner landed a double on a spook. It was the most crazy blowup where there was a tail slap just as the smallie launched out of the water to get the spook on the way down. I second the spoon idea, i love them when fishing ledges. I will always also have a big swim bait tied on that I can slow roll at whatever depth I need.

I have this toad obsession and when I started I use to make really long casts This led to poor hooksets as often the blowup is on the first few turns of the handle. Plus, I just cast past a dozen other potential bass holding spots. I also noticed I would always pick up some followers, so catch 1 and see 4 with it. I have become far more productive with shorter casts targeting specific spots. I usually don't see that many followers anymore. On the flip side sometimes I cant cast far enough for the smallies when their up on the flats

The novelty is what is gonna get me to buy it. The times I tie it to a string in the mailbox or the kids towel drawer are gonna be worth the 9 bucks for me.

Have you ever heard of the expression about comparing apples to apples? I can cut a flat worm in half and it will wriggle around but both sections will live. Should I expect the same behavior if I chopped some bird in half? Do you think all living things have the same brain capacity? Is it all the researchers that are bought and paid for or just the ones regarding fish feeling pain?

And which generation raised those kids? The same generation that handed them participation trophies. Everyone wants their kids to have an easier life than they had. Some do this to the child's detriment. My mom and dad let me ride around the neighborhood at 5am delivering papers on my bike. How many of you are gonna let your kids do the same? Many kids dont want to own a home because the saw their parents pay on it for 30 years, refinance it to help pay bills only to have it foreclosed on and taken away when they lost their job to outsourcing or couldn't afford their medical bills

I would also try a blade bait at that depth. I would cast from deep to shallow and let it fall down the ledge. Dont let it get all the way to them, keep it above them and use small movements to allow the blade to vibrate and then let it drop some > rinse and repeat. When throwing a blade bait, I have found if they are suspended its better to keep it above them dropping it into the school can spook them

That's saying a lot for a skater and a drummer. Two fields where the majority are completely tattoo'd

Ok gotcha!! My problem with not skin hooking it, is as soon as I skip the bait it gets pushed down on the hook side exposing the point to catch anything and everything in the water. I guess I could use a bobber stop to keep it from sliding down On a side note when skin hooking to the right or the left you can get the bait to run left or right this helps when running down a bank or weed edge

just to clarify, I did see in your original post you stated the advantages of mono when using treble hooks.? I just quoted the portion that I was referencing. Because of my distaste for mono I will use a rod with more of a bend with treble hook lures

that tip is good for the first fish but what happens when you tear the plastic that you are skin hooking too? Now you cant place it in the same spot because its tore and now you no longer have the bend in the belly. I carry one of those "torch" lighters and routinely "fix" baits on the go Hand pouring my own baits has completely solved the flipping over issue for me. I'm working on a modified version that uses the keitech frog body and the ribbit paddle tail feet. I have a couple that I poured but they need a little adjusting before I can call it a success
