  1. Not so with these reels. 2-3 different sizes are needed to fully disassemble these reels. torx are not considered special tools.
  2. I hear you. This year I've been fishing about 85% around laydowns and isolated weeds so I haven't been loosing many jigs. I've been using that jig in photo since may! I'll be sad when it's gone.
  3. For sure. I also use mine for Swim jigs and Husky jerk jerkbaits too. It's a great all around rod.
  4. I use a jig until I can't get the hook sharp with sharpening. I never found the paint missing to have any effect on the amount to bites a jig gets. I agree about the TRD getting better the more it's chewed on.
  5. I always use an O ring and point the hook up towards the tail going through the worm a touch and the ring. Great hook penetration using this method.
  6. You didn’t mention what it is.
  7. Over the last 3-4 years I've been throwing finesse jigs more than my regular bass jigs. The finesse jigs I like the most are the the SK 1/4oz Bitsy Flip and 5/16oz Santone Texas Finesse jigs. The Bitsy Flip in 1/4oz seems to come through cover so well because of it's small size and great shaped head and weed guard. Over the years I've noticed that beat up jigs catch tons of fish. I always wire tie my skirts on my Bitsy Bug and Bitsy Flip jigs because the get wrecked after 3-4 fish, but after tying with wire they hold up to so many more fish, and catch fish like crazy. My trailer of preference is usually a Yum Wooly Bug. You people think beat up jigs catch more fish than new ones? I think they catch more fish for some reason. Here's a photo of a new Bitsy Flip and beat up one with over 60 fish on it. See how much thinner the skirt is.
  8. 783c uses: -finesse jigs and any jig up to 3/8oz. -great top water rod -Texas rigs -swimbaits with belly weighted hooks
  9. Daiwa Tatula G Loomis E6x Dobyns Sierra Shimano Curado all solid rods in your price range.
  10. Do you touch the line with you hand while retrieving? Touching the line can cause the line to pile up on which ever side you are touching the line.
  11. For me the Cabela's swimbait called the Swim Minnow. Great action and colors.
  12. The Daiwa Arid X spinning rods are really nice for the cost. Check them out for your buddy.
  13. I agree on this. The Cabela's fly combos are pretty great for the cost.
  14. Over that last three years I got really into fishing finesse jigs. 1/4 and 5/16 are my two fave sizes with a Small size Yum wooly bug as a trailer. It became my go to pretty much because it's works so well. My two rigs that are perfect for these are as follows. Spinning: Medium action fast rod, Daiwa Tatula 6'6", 3000 size Shallow spool Tatula reel, 15lb Power Pro yellow to 12lb Seaguar FC. Casting: G Loomis 6'9" MH, 7 speed reel, 30lb Power Pro to 15lb Seaguar FC. These two rigs have caught me tons of LMB and SMB. The sensitivity is fantastic and the hookup ratio is almost 100%. These two rigs are what I fished most of the time since I worked out the best way to fish Finesse jigs. A 1/4oz SK Bitsy Flip with a Yum Wooly Bug will catch you all sizes of fish from 1lb-6lbs. My other favorite FJ are the Santone Texas finesse jigs in 5/16oz. Great strong jigs that hold up to many fish and stay together.
  15. I use 8,10,15lb power pro to 8,10, and 12lb Seaguar FC tied with an FG knot. No issues at all. If I fish top water I switch to 10-12 trilene XL mono as my leader.
  16. Does anyone out there use Helium 3 casting rods with 30-40lb braid to leader? Does your knot go through the macro guides well? Thx
  17. You’re looking at a quite an upgrade there. Pretty much anything you get will be more sensitive and lighter than an Ugly Stick.
  18. Jigs, Ned rig, Shaky head, Swim jigs, Square bills,
  19. Hello I prefer to fish 30lb braid to leader (always tied with an FG knot), and was wondering if anyone here has experience with the latest series of E6X with the smaller size guides. Will the connection knot go through the guides fine?
  20. My preferred rod is a Kuying light action spinning rod, 8lb Power Pro to 8lb fluorocarbon leader. The hook set is a medium speed lift and reel style. I very rarely lose a fish with this set up. I’ve caught 9” - 5lb bass with this rig, just be careful of not trying to rush the fight.
  21. Hello I'm looking into getting this rod. What reel do you use on it? How's the balance? I have some older IMX MBR rods and I love the MBR taper and feel. So I'm looking for something similar. Thanks!
  22. I have good success with 8 and 10lb Power Pro high viz yellow braid. It's great strong thin line. I've been wanting to try 832, what is it that you don't like about it?
  23. St Croix Premier are super solid and pretty sensitive too. great rods, and under $150 too.
