  1. Every website, youtuber, person who is sponsored or runs advertisements is selling the product. Just look right here at BR. In the descriptions of many of videos you will see recommended gear, and it will be all Kast King stuff when it's not what was used in the video. KK is a sponsor, so the brand can be pushed on this site. It's all basic advertising, name recognition, people using it, and repetition of seeing the brand.
  2. Get a Tatula rod to go along with you new reel. They are excellent rods and right in your budget. Check on Ebay too, you can find one for around $120.00.
  3. Man....For pennies you will be able to use those sinkers again without worrying about it. That powder/corrosion is lead oxide, which is toxic and more easily absorbed than lead in its metal state. Don't breathe it in when moving it around.
  4. You can cover almost any bass fishing with these two. 723c is great for everything, and the 724c is a good worm/jig rod, heavier spinnerbaits, and anything where you need more power. I used these rod exclusively when I only fished out of a canoe. I wanted a short rod so I wouldn't be in my partners back all the time. I love these rods when a short rod is preferred. I still like my 723c for jerk baits and spooks.
  5. The original G Loomis IMX 723c or 724c would hook you up. These are excellent sensitive rods, super light and balanced.
  6. I use straight white vinegar over night, then rinse with clean water and dry.
  7. I have 3 Dobyns Fury casting rods which I love. Last season I designated my 703 as a Square bill rod. Due to the kind of slower action Dobyns have, I found it to be a perfect rod for treble hook baits. Anyone else try this out? Last year was my first time really using Squarebills frequently.
  8. I had a SJR 721 for years. It’s a 6’ fast action light power rod. The spin jig rods and the MBR rod have some of the best tapered blanks ever made. The light 721 is a fantastic smallmouth jig rod, the longer versions and 722 or any 2 power rod would be great. I wouldn’t say they were slower than the MBR blanks.
  9. I only use the shallow spool version of the Tatula LT 3000. It has plenty of line capacity for bass fishing, and will save you money when buys line. I put about 20-23' of mono as a backing and fill the rest with braided line. It's an excellent reel.
  10. I use a Daiwa Tatula 6'6" medium rood, Tatula LT 3000 shallow spool reel, 15lb PP braid, 6' mono or flouro leader with 1/8-1/4oz shakey heads and 5/16 finesse jigs. I never have issues with hook sets. It's a really light and sensitive setup, that is very versatile. I sometimes drop to 10lb braid if I am consistently using lighter baits.
  11. Here you go: http://www.xtackle.com/gamakatsu-weighted-superline-ewg-worm-hook.aspx
  12. Gamakatsu makes great belly weighted EWG hooks from 1/0-5/0. 2/0 fit 3-3.5” swim baits well.
  13. I have a lot of confidence in McCoy clear and Mean Green. Very limp and easy to cast, with great abrasion resistance.
  14. I also noticed that the YouTube people who dropped them decided not to continue using the KK gear. Must be a reason....or many.
  15. You saying the caffeine shad was better than a fluke? If so how?
  16. Hey Anyone touch the new Green Mojo Glass 6'10" rod? I'm not sure when they are coming out, but it's on my list of next rod purchases. I want to handle one before I take the plunge.
  17. I think you will enjoy the sensitivity you gain with braid to a leader when fishing jigs. Even when using mono for a leader you will gain feeling. I usually use a pretty short leader, about 4-6' when fishing around docks, rocks and logs. One of favorite ways to fish 1/4-5/16 finesse jigs around moderate cover is with my Daiwa Tatula 6'6" medium spinning rod with 15lb PowerPro yellow braid to a 6' 12lb leader (mono or flouro). When punching, a leader isn't necessary.
  18. For your spinning set up I would recommend 15lb braid to what ever leader you like. Mono is more forgiving with knots, both to the leader and lure. As Keeper noted remember to tighten the FG know strongly. It's all I use and never have issues with it. On my 15lb braid I use 8,10,12lb line for leaders without any issues. Good luck.
  19. The streams I fish around here the craws are a light blue/muddy brown on the bottom. I have seen some red craws in lakes.
  20. Too many to own, or to bring on the water? On the boat I never bring more than four casting and two spinning set ups when I'm by myself. If a partner comes along I'll bring either three casting and one spinning, or two and two.
  21. Seems like it. I would buy a red jig though.
  22. In the spring everyone talks about using red colored lipless and square bills because they look like crawfish. My question is why don't we see tons of red colored bass jigs? If that red color is crawfish color, and jigs are down on the bottom where the crawfish are.......Maybe I need to make some red jigs? Does anyone make their own red jigs?
  23. For me it’s the Gamakatsu b10s and vmc neko hooks. Various sizes depending on the size bait. The longer shaft has better hook ups for me. Also I can use the for neko rigs so I carry less hooks.
  24. Weighted Gamakatsu 5/0 EWG superline hook is my hands down favorite.
  25. Daiwa Tatula 6'6" or 6'8" medium rod. I use it for that exact presentation and for 5/16 finesse jigs. Perfect for both. Super light and sensitive.
