  1. Another Tatula fan here. The new Tatula cork grip spinning rod in 6'6" or 6'8" both are medium power, fast action rods. Match with a Tatula LT 3000 reel.
  2. It will suit you perfectly. It's much more versatile than a true ultralight rod. It's a nice rod for spinners, small jigs, top water, Rapala 07, ned rigs. Just about anything you would want to throw for smallies in a stream.
  3. I like the 7:1 which is usually about 30 ipt.
  4. Favorite all around casting reel ratio there is one very special option in the poll.
  5. Yeah man. Grain of salt taken. That makes sense. I am only familiar with the newer version of E6x rods.
  6. Maybe bashing is wrong word. Just seems like there's some harshness for a really solid product.
  7. I haven't used the older style E6x, only the newer style. Maybe there is a difference in them?
  8. Don't understand bashing the components either. They are Fuji guides and reel seats. I don't get it either. They use Fuji reel seats and guides. Both are super solid, but not fancy. All my old IMX rod have them too and they are excellent.
  9. Loomis IMX 6' Medium Heavy has been great for your exact application. It's similar to the St Croix Premier 6' but more sensitive and way lighter.
  10. I've noticed a lot E6x bashing going on here. I checked out a bunch of them and all of them were really nice and light, well balanced, and sensitive. I have some older IMX rods, which are excellent rods, and I like the E6x rods with the similar actions a lot. What gives? What am I missing? All the ones I've fished and held were well put together and looked great.
  11. I was in BPS yesterday directly comparing the same weight/action of the E6X and Avid X and the Loomis was better balanced with a reel on it (I brought my own reel) and lighter. The Mojo wasn't as nice as either. However, all of them were nice, but direct comparisons the E6X was the nicest. I think once you're out fishing them all would be great. Yeah. In this case the Fury wins for me.
  12. Do it! I have a 6'6" and 6'8" medium fast both with Tatula LT 3000 shallow spool reels. Unreal how nice they are for the price. I got both of mine on Ebay for $98.00. Really well balanced, sensitive, and the cork grips are super comfortable. I got them after comparing them to the Elite rods because they felt better to me. I don't like those synthetic grips and big plastic hump reel seats on the Elites.
  13. My favorite line for t rigs is McCoy 15lb copolymer. Super limp, great casting and a great price.
  14. I usually pre rig about 10-15 ned rigs with a variety of Z-Man baits glued onto jigheads in an original Z-Man bag with no issues. The longest I've stored them is about 1 year with no issues.
  15. I find my tatula 100 to be very noisy when reeling. It's very smooth but man is it noisy.
  16. Also check out the new Tatula rod with the cork handle. I have two spinning rods in that line and they excellent. I bought them over the Elite versions. I liked the handle better and they are really well put together. Some of the most well balanced rods I've felt.
  17. I know there's be quite a bit of discussion regarding the new Tatula 100, but I haven't seen much written about the 150. I have been going through my gear getting ready for spring, and was kind of amazed at how clean and untouched the Tatula 150 was. I used this reel for most of last season and it was pretty dirty. It was mostly used as a jig/texas rig reel with 15lb line. It still feels and looks like it's new after cleaning it up. When I first got it it felt kind of heavy to me, but once it's on a rod it balances well and feels super solid. It's crazy smooth reeling under pressure and casts really well. It was my first reel with the T-wing. I later got a Tatula 100 too. The Magforce Z cast control is great, and really easy to dial in. It's so much quieter during reeling than my 100. The 100 makes kind of a metal on metal gear sound when winding. It's still really smooth, just makes some noise. I guess the metal side plates add some weight and solidness to the feel. Over all I think is an excellent reel. In the photo it's mounted on my old Loomis Bronzeback 6'9" rod that I love.
  18. I would suggest something similar to a Loomis 3 power casting rod, 1/4-3/4oz with 10lb-17lb line size rod. To use for topwater, finesse jigs, soft swimbaits with belly weighted hooks, square bills and tons of other applications too.
  19. I saw some at a shop the other day and thought they were really nice feeling. Build looked nice and clean.
  20. One thing to be aware of is not to store your reel with the drag tightened down. It will compress the drag washers and sometimes make them sticky and uneven. Drags left tightened down can cause the issue you're having.
  21. That's a beautiful boat. Is it floating in that last photo? Looks like it's in 10" of water. What brand/model is that?
  22. That rod would be great for texas rigs, jigs, poppers, and spinnerbaits.
  23. I think of finesse jigs as compact jigs anywhere from 1/8-3/8oz. My favorite size being 5/16oz. They can be fished effectively many ways, from a super sloooooow crawl to active hops depending on the fish. My favorite setups are a medium fast spinning rig with 15lb braid to a 8-12lb mono leader, or a 10-17lb m/mh casting rod with straight 12lb mono/flouro. The last few years I've been digging an old Loomis Bronzeback 6'9" casting rod for this style. I love finesse jigs! One of my favorite trailers when the fish are moving slow in an old Mann's Stingray grub. They add a nice subtle glide movement. I don't think BFS would have any advantages. Some jigs I like are the 5/16oz Santone brand finesse jigs, Bitsy Bug and Bitsy Flip in 1/4oz too. Yeah I rock the 1/8oz mini jigs a lot too. I do great with them. I bought a bunch of 1/8oz Bitsy Bug jigs and cut the rubber band off and retied them with wire and they flair our great now. Small craw or hellgrammite soft plastics for trailers are great.
  24. Curado 70 is a nice reel. So is the Curado K and Daiwa SV. All would be great reels for that rod. The 70 can regularly be found on Ebay for under $170.00 as can the Tatula SV. The Curado K around $150.00. Lots of great reels out there these days.
