  1. I've only had one out of the box that needed it. The rest I did after extensive use. I'm semi retired and have summers off, and even when I work I only work 2-6 pm. So I fish A LOT, probably six days a week. Any reel will need oiling.......lol
  2. I have one on my kayak and absolutely love it......no complaints whatsoever. Switched from Lowrance and never looked back.
  3. I usually take the spool out and put a drop of oil on both sides.......
  4. I use 5 inch Senko's. I've tried others but always end up back with Senko.
  5. I also didn't like my DC reel. All my reels are currently Tatula SV TW's or Elites......... Love them.
  6. I've caught bass on a trout colored S-Waver where there are no trout.
  7. 3.8 or inch here, on a Siebert swim jig.........I generally go with shad type colors.
  8. On a deep diving crank.........as in a 20 foot deep. Although I have caught a few that deep on lipless cranks. Go figure.
  9. I fish most of the time out of a kayak using 3700's in a crate. Plastics are kept in two 3600 boxes, I bring as many plastics as I think I'd need then some, but I also don't believe you need a lot of color choices so that keeps the volume down. That being said I use a tackle bag for when I'm not in the kayak and all I have to do is move the 3700's from crate to bag. I use a BassPro bag.
  10. I always have a jig rod and a t-rig rod at the ready. I start with a jig. Reason being that when I got back into hardcore bass fishing a few years back I used t-rigs and caught bass. Nothing big and figured there weren't big bass where I was fishing. I decided to try jigs anyway and started catching much bigger bass in those same locations......now I start with the jig first.........if it's not catching I'll try the t-rig. I'm not saying you can't catch big bass on t-rigs, my PB is on a t-rig,,,,,,but I'm betting numbers 19-20 are mainly on a jig of some sort.
  11. Rookie..........................lol
  12. Especially if you are using more than one view at a time.
  13. I had a 73SV that I purchased because I wanted sidevu. I recently upgraded to the 93SV for the bigger screen and couldn't pass up the deals being offered on it. I can tell you that on my kayak SV has helped me quite a bit in locating structure. I fish a lot of old quarries and the SV helps me find the pretty much exact location of those little humps of rock and other structure that I would be hard pressed to find otherwise. There is a particular quarry I fish probably 40-50 times a year. I found big bass holding spots this summer that I never knew were there in the past. Summary...........yes it's worth it.
  14. This site, and its video's on Youtube, and spending A LOT of time on the water are the origin of 95% of my bass fishing knowledge.
  15. I think you are giving the bass too much brain power credit.
  16. I don't have an EMTF but do have a Braillist that I use exclusively for jigs. It's been my jig rod the past two seasons and don't see any reason to switch. If you're using 1/2 oz jigs I'd go with the Braillist.

Not with Rage but with my Reaction Innovation craws I do the same thing when using a jig, I leave them full length with T-rigs.
  18. I learned a lot from the Tacticalbassn video's. Especially the SI. That coupled with actually spending time paying attention to your electronics. I had to get away from just looking at the depth reading.
  19. Ok you confused me here. Braid to FC leader followed up in the same paragraph with "No leader with my jig fishing!" Are you using straight braid or a leader?
  20. They have adhesive backing......no need for superglue.
  21. I'm curious as to why you have had so many issues with dig in.........I use braid 100% of the time from 20 lb test to 65 and don't have that issue. I fish A LOT with jigs, cast the out there quite a distance and set the hook hard. I can count on one hand the dig in incidents over the past 5 years or so. To each his own.
  22. I don't know about all of you but my chatterbaits catch way more vegetation on the blade than the hook. A weed guard isn't going to help with that so I don't see the point of a weed guard.
