  1. Just wanted to say that I was fishing down at my local pond and there were some kids acting like idiots. Flinging their trash in the water and throwing rocks and shells at the ducks. Anyone else have to tell people off for ruining their waterways?
  2. Probably should have said the plastic I like to fish. I mostly fish the Zoom Shakey Head Worm in junebug and watermelon candy but I will fish Chigger Craws and stuff like that as well.
  3. I have caught plenty of bass with hooks in 'em. Never got any hard baits, though.
  4. Just restocked on my shaky heads and was wondering if anyone had any unique tips on fishing them. Thanks!
  5. The hooks on the Whopper Plopper seem to be quite durable. I can vouch for that personally when I was clipping the barb off after I got hooked. It put a dent in the pliers!
  6. Welcome back!
  7. I have spent ten minutes tying and retying a new knot. I eventually gave up and thought "Well, hey, now it's fifteen pound test." Knot broke on the first fish.
  8. I don't know, it seems to work for me!
  9. I've had water snakes chase chatterbaits before. Scary!
  10. Chances are, you are fishing too fast. Yesterday, when I was fishing at a pond in my neighborhood, a kid with a wacky rig came and bombed it out there. He had the bait back in twenty seconds flat. If I had made a cast that long, I'd still be fishing it! Fish so slow it hurts, and then fish slower. Then you'll catch bass. Good luck!

  12. My favorite series of books has to be the Black Company. Other than that, I like Jack London books.
  13. I never brought bags for trash at my local pond but I always put it in my bass bag. I finally stopped doing it when I was literally digging through trash to get to my lures. People are slobs.
  14. I like the Ribbets. Since Gander Mountain is going out of business I got 50% off on them today.
  15. Hey guys, just went through my garage and found these lures. They were given to me by my grandfather. Any ideas to what they are and how much they are worth? I just tried to post an image and it wouldn't let me do it, so any help on that would be welcome, too. Two of the lures have glass eyes so that is pre 1940s, right? In addition, one lure has cursive engraving saying Heddon's Game Fisher on it. I'll see if I can put pics on the thread.
  16. I have never caught a bass off of dead stuff, but live bluegills work great

  18. Any recommendations for a good spinning reel? I mainly use spinning rods when fishing soft plastics, so maybe something with a lower gear ratio? Also, while I'm asking, I am making my own lures. I need a source of good cheap silicon, if anyone knows any suppliers.
  19. I never knew there were clear frogs! Whenever I want a shad imitation I use white, but I think clear would work too.
  20. I dunno... I've caught 4 pounders on my Lew's Speed Stick Combo. That only cost $100
  21. Google Earth is definitely a good resource. I will check previous years to see how my pond or lake has changed.
  22. Only when skipping on the baitcasting. During a normal cast, I'll touch my thumb to the spool to stop a backlash. I think that my best backlash happened when I accidentally moved my spool tension knob. I had a huge over spool and when I finally picked it out, I realized my floating crankbait was gone. Little did I know, but a 45 pound snapping turtle picked it up and started swimming away with it. Eventually, it bent my hook and I got my lure back. A successful backlash!
