  1. Welcome to BassResource!
  2. Buy what you want to. My budget is maybe a hundred or so for a rod and reel combo. I know some people will buy rods worth several hundred dollars, and I don't understand it. The bottom line is, get what you need. If one of those guys NEEDS a seven thousand dollar Japanese reel, let him buy it. His money.
  3. I have been fishing for years but have mostly used braid. Whenever I use mono I seem to end up with something like this: line memory so horrible it becomes nearly impossible to fish with. This picture is mono that I have been using for one month max. I've tried different brands and they all seem to result in the same way. Braid, however, has never seemed to have any issues. I'd like to try fishing with mono but I have no idea how to resolve this problem. Any ideas?

That's a hog! I'm not the best judge of fish by pics but I'd put it at maybe six pounds? Just take all the guesses and average them

  7. Just a word of warning: Don't try to force the tip if it doesn't come off with heat. You'll end up with a rod that's two inches shorter.
  8. That's what I was thinking! There are times when I'll be getting skunked with a white trick worm and then start catching them on black.
  9. A bass? I have no idea. Welcome to the forums, by the way.
  10. I wouldn't say it's perfect, but the drop shot has usually caught me fish every time I go out.
  11. I don't own a boat and it will be awhile before I do. What I would recommend for shore fishing is to get a backpack and two or three of those lure cases. Put hard baits along with worm hooks, shakey heads, etc. in there. You can put bags of plastics in the front pocket. Now add a rod and reel, and I'm ready for a couple hours at the pond.
  12. I know everyone else is saying to buff it off, and that seems like the best option. Am I stupid saying maybe you could fill it in with some kind of superglue or hot glue?
  13. I own a couple Hula poppers but have never caught anything on them. I always manage to catch fish on the Rebel Pop-R, though. Not sure if it's my fishing style or the places I fish.
  14. I started melting my old soft plastics about a year ago. It is a great way to reuse old baits, and now I have a reason to clean up all the trashed plastics I find all around the pond. I'm not sure if this is the best site, but I like to find silicon open pour molds at Lurecraft.com. Aside from that, just buy a couple of glass measuring cups. Put it in the microwave for two minutes or so, stir it, then pour it in. Good luck!
  15. I will fish the Zoom five-inch straight tail worms on a shakey head. Seems to work well on fish and it looks awesome in the water.

  17. My first time using a WP a four pounder hooked me completely through the finger!

  19. In tournaments, I have this habit of thinking "I HAVE to catch a fish on this lure" and then fishing it for the tournament without catching anything. Then I'll switch in the last half hour and catch two on a crank (true story).
