Yes I have seen them especially in the Griffin Road canal and neighborhoods that are fed from the canal through culvert pipes. Never caught one, but had them cut my leader or mangle my line pretty badly.

I just self financed a gentleman that had an excellent credit score and he had 20% down on a second vacation home. The place appraised for 310K I sold it to him for 285k. Long story short he could not get approval ANYWHERE with 20% as a secondary home and did not have anymore money, so I ended up financing for 5 years at 6.25% adjustable after 5. Point is that if even people with excellent credit cannot get financing the housing market will be awash in inventory and housing needs to come down even more. This is was in Florida of course, not sure about California and other states. How is it on the left coast Redline?

Quantum, last experience I had was with a Cabo spinning reel, which I liked until the bail started failing. I believe it was magnetic. Anyway, sent it back to Quantum and they replaced it and within a few months had same issue, sent it back again and SOLD it. Quantum is no Shimano or Daiwa or at least the limited models I have tried, but heck if KVD can use them they are good. Wonder how often they replace his reels.

Shouldn't really effect me since I am only out 1-3 days a week, and I bought ProShares Ultra Oil & Gas (DIG)as a hedge to what I pay at the pump. I figure the just about every time gas goes up so does share price of gas and oil producing companies, so I buy into the profits. Have done this 2-3x during gas price hikes and have about broken even if not come up on top. It would be a different story if I was out consistently more than 2-3 days a week though and the Libya Black Swan event really helped my hedge.

Buy a used boat in like new condition, its just about the smartest decision financially you could ever make. As stated before keep searching and saving and you'll be one of the few guys that can say "I am not upside down" or "I own my boat outright." The fact that you saved $5k before 18 tells me you have fiscal discipline so take it a step- further and see if you can save a bit more and buy a nice USED BOAT!
