I use the 5/0 owner riggin hook for fat ikas. It seems to be the perfect hook for that particular bait. I use 3/0 for the berkley sabertail bug, again, it fits perfect and does not slide.

I think it's just a regular peacock bass that has a different coloration from living near or in salt water. I seriously doubt it that a saltwater fish can produce offspring with a freshwater fish. Is there a river near the pier that fish was caught off?
