  1. I own one of the last RT188s made prior to the sale. I've had a Lowe owner on my deck who was beside himself with how stable the front deck is. He said it was like standing on a dock compared to his Lowe. His Lowe, however, can handle water that I would not take my RT188 into and it's faster. Sorry, no experience with the Crestliner. ^^^ This would be my very first thought. There are many excellent boat brands. Pick one that has a dealer close. Especially if buying new.
  2. Accessories: Bottle of bourbon and a lawyer. Name: That-Was-A-Bad-Idea Man.
  3. I run a shooting complex that caters only to LE and military. Right outside my fenced compound is another, smaller fenced compound that contains an accelerator purchased with $6 million in grant money to study gamma radiation. They tell me that the safe standoff is 100 feet. Their fence is 150 feet from the device. My office is 250 feet from the device. I was going to sue them, but my wife says I was an enormous, green rage-monster years before they put that thing there...
  4. Oversimplifying it: The atoms in Uranium split easily, which is how fission is achieved. Fission creates a massive amount of heat. In a nuke power plant Uranium rods are bundled together (which causes and explosive amount of heat) and submerged in water. The water is used to control the heat. The folks at the Chernobyl plant failed to stay awake on "safety training day" and the heat got out of control. That particular plant wasn't like most of them you see today in the U.S. with the huge dome that is a protective containment vessel. So...when the heat got out of control it (the steam containing the radioactive elements) was released into the air. Many of the elements had a short half-life but several had a half-life of 30 or more years. Half-life is how long it takes the element to finish breaking down (fission) and disintegrate. The whole time it's breaking down it's releasing radiation which damages human cells. In many, many very ugly ways.
  5. Lipless crank (Cotton Cordell if I want it high in the water column, Trap if I want it to drop faster) Vibrating jig (specifically the Fogy from @Siebert Outdoors as it can be rolled so slooooowly it's almost magical) Unpegged t-rig with a ZinkerZ twitched across the bottom Gotta find 'em first though!
  6. This is exactly right. I'll vote for you.
  7. As I get older I try diligently to work on my outlook toward other people, but then I realize that people like this still exist and I start to backslide... https://www.yahoo.com/sports/anglers-busted-152-crappie-over-171327391.html
  8. I realize that this falls under the "old wives tale" category, but last year was the first time my boat has been stored in my new-to-me heated garage. For all winters prior it was stored in a barn full of other people's boats. Mice were a significant problem. I never had a single issue with mice because I did two things: 1. Make sure nothing is touching (or close to touching) the floor other than your trailer tires and jack wheel. If you put a cover on and your cover strap is hanging six inches above the floor the mice will use it to climb into your boat. 2. Buy a new box of dryer sheets and put 30 of them all over your boat. In the bins, on the floor, under the seats, stuffed in the cracks of the seats, etc. Many will say the dryer sheets don't work. I had zero mice over three winters while other's boats were eaten to pieces. I never saw a single mouse turd. That's all I can say about it.
  9. Another vote for coppertreuse. It's a weird (and I assume made up) name from Z-Man. Normally NOTHING bright colored works in any of the lakes I fish but this color is an absolute hammer. I've tried numerous other colors of the ElaZtech with little result but the coppertruese on a Ned or T-rig is a skunk-buster.
  10. One of the "lighter" lipless on the market is the Cotton Cordell. Their 1/2oz sinks slower than a Rat-L-Trap and has a higher pitch rattle, like maybe the rattles are smaller? The Red Eye sinks faster than either of those IMO. If I want something that sinks slower or retrieves higher in the water I use the Cotton Cordell. If I want it deeper then I use the Trap. I haven't had much luck with the Red Eye in comparison. Occasionally the Tungsten 2 Tap has worked but those drop like an anchor.
  11. My first Tackle Warehouse order Oh, now you've done it.
  12. Another vote for the Storm Arashi. Indestructible and, if you have your reeling cadence correct, the way they come through stuff is like magic. As my Strike Kings and Spro's disappear through natural attrition I am replacing them with nothing but the Storms.
  13. Live Target is a profitable company because of their deal with Dick's/Field and Stream, but no one buys them and every single time Dick's has a "fishing" sale the only things they have a discount on is a million different Live Target lures and some Skeet Reese catfish rods. I think Mustad should have passed on that one.
  14. If KVD gives you the lure he won a million dollars with, you won’t catch a single fish with it unless you are casting where the fish are at and under the correct circumstances.
  15. Well, your bubble-blade is a killer even when they don't want to chase anything else so I'll have to try some of these too.
  16. Are the two batteries that are used as starting batteries and for the electronics hooked together? Since you are saying that the Carbon's are running down both batteries, I am assuming that the batteries are hooked together. Do you have them hooked in series or parallel? If they are hooked in series you are sending 24 volts to your electronics and boat ignition but you are only getting the amp hours of one battery. If you have them hooked in parallel you are sending 12 volts and should be getting double the amp hours. They have to be connected differently than your TM batteries to work properly.
  17. I apologize but I'm having trouble picturing this. You have two new batteries but a four bank charger? Are your electronics running off of your trolling motor batteries? Also, you said you are getting 13.4 after they charge, are you taking that reading while the charger is still plugged in and charging? The first thing that comes to mind is that you are running a 36V TM but only replaced two of the three TM batteries? That could be your problem if that's the case.
  18. Most of these responses are answers to your question. You just don’t like the answer. In the fall it’s the changing of the season that causes the fish to move. Shorter daytime and longer nights with decreasing water temps. Weather isn’t the primary factor as @TnRiver46 is trying to tell you. You are asking the wrong question like the guy at the dock that keeps asking me “what lure are you catching them on”. He should be asking me what depth I caught then at and what cover/structure were they relating to. The lure is secondary. Keep asking about the weather and you probably won’t find your fall fish.
  19. It's natural to realize that you have to swing hard when your lure becomes suddenly or gradually HEAVIER. You have to "train your brain" (thank you John Madden) to react instinctively when your lure suddenly or gradually becomes LIGHTER.
  20. This book is a fantastic idea but you MUST secure it in a safe deposit box in a bank or in a safe (huge or bolted to the floor) in your home once you have filled it out. Tell your loved ones where it is and how to access it but don't risk it being stolen in a burglary to your home.
  21. I can hear this in his voice! And I have crossed this line...
  22. Does braided really spook fish? Yes when you aren't catching fish. No when you are catching fish.
  23. I went out on Wednesday and with the bluebird skies I just assumed I might not catch fish. I ended up with 11 bass in 8hrs which is a good day on this particular lake. I can tell you that 10 of the 11 fish were in one of two places: either 10-15 feet of water or 10-15 inches of water. No exaggeration. I caught one fish on the end of a laydown in 6ft of water. The others were 10+ feet or 1 foot. Maybe you can find some the same.
  24. Sure you can! Just joking with you! You might not like the action/performance of the rod but if you use your head you won't damage it.
  25. That's just August, brother! Just so happens that I took the entire day off tomorrow so that I can get up really early and not catch fish for 8-10 hours. I haven't been out in three weeks and it's going to be a beautiful day without the Labor Day crowds around. Those fish can watch me float around and be happy all day. That's fine with me.
