I think I messed up. Transducer placement
I bought a used 1548 war eagle with a hummingbird 200dx. Then got the Humminbird® Helix™ 10 SI Sonar/GPS Combo. So going off the same transducer drill holes, reading a lot, and following a template, I'm thinking it's low. Parallel with the bottom off the hull. What do yall think? testing tomorrow and thanks for any replies....

Baitcasting Reels backlash vs weight of lures?
Thank you everyone for the replies! Just got home and am reading them all for the first time. There were some questions that I would like to reply in the order that were asked. But appreciate reading all the replies for sure!!! I think everybody makes a good point! "What do you consider light?" A weightless 3" senko with a 1.0 hook "Did you say going to no brakes?" Yes, that's referring to the abu 5500 with 20lb braid. I only throw heavier stuff on it and never had a problem with backlash and so I decided to get another baitcaster "Max Pro" but have had tons of back lashes unless I throw 3/8 oz or less "How light are the lures you are trying to cast?" I've only used it 3 times and I have tried a 3" money minnow with a 1/8" jig head and a weightless 3" senko with a 2.0 hook and it back lashes at least a little every cast! However and weightless swim senko with a 6.0 hook, I never had a problem and that's even with dialing the adjustments to almost nothing.

Baitcasting Reels backlash vs weight of lures?
Hey Guys and Gals, I've always been a spinning rod combo guy and only bought my first casting combo a few years ago. Ugly Stick and a Abu 5500 used. It was a good deal and rigged with 20 lb braid. I wasn't ever accurate with it but I could through heavier things like an Alabama Rig. Never ever did I backlash it and I only through the heavier stuff. So I got an Abu Pro Max recently, (I know not the best but my first low profile) rod and reel combo and I put 12 lb Floro Carbon on it. I back lashed almost every cast with finesse type or light lures. (Think I had the adjustments right). But doing the same and even going to no brakes, I never had a problem with back lashing it on heavier lures. Spinning for lighter and Casters for heavy? Thanks for any response!

2-3/4oz Topwater?
Why? None of my gear is rated above an oz. I was considering a Yellow Duckling because they are on sale at https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/catpage-SVGBTS.html?from=basres

Soft Plastic Organization
I bet you will! I'm all over the place from focusing on a boat, rods, tackle, storage, fish finders, ect.... Now a great way to hang baits, I'm screwed financially and lost on what to do next! Great idea my friend!!!

How many here have caught a 10lb+ bass and in what state?
(2) 10's in SC. Both were in ponds, but both ponds were at least 50 miles apart.

Soft Plastic Organization
More baits I would say! Aren't you suppose to have five packs of every bait and 5 packs in every color? Nice set up!

Good deal? $899.00 Humminbird® Helix™ 10 SI Sonar/GPS Combo
If I ruin it in salt water? Do I need to remove the transducer if I hit the coast?

New Boat Company announment Friday
Ha! This is all good to read. I've had tons of boats, but my first taught me value. Value for me is how long I can use it, keep it, and then sell it for what I bought it for. I lost my _ss on my first boat, now I buy better and always cash out before I break even. Boston Whaler has always been a good one for me and now I am hoping the War Eagle will be too!

Horsing/Skiing fish to the boat
Great Topic! I reel them in as fast as I can!!!! Horse style if I have the gear..... However, my goal was met a long time ago when it comes to Bass fishing, and then I beat twice last year. So I like to go after the big one's here in South Carolina. Study em like a deer hunter with trail cameras. Feed em. Catch em and release them and repeat the process over and over. I caught a 55lb stingray and the fight sucked lasting over an hour with light equipment and a boat that would chase. Just big bass is what I'm after, if not, I'd crappie fish with light rods going after the biggest Crappie. Just me, and good topic! With you 100% Tom, my gear won't horse a big bass out of the water into the boat. I will try to reel as fast as I can without braking the line to keep them from turning around. That's kinda what I interpreted horsing was. But care for the fish so we can catch them again. They are smaller here in SC.

Your coolest new technique this year?
Alabama rig! Thing is awesome! Snapped a rod throwing it, lost a few rigs, but this year it's on! All new heavier gear a bunch of rigs and different baits! Just swimbaits 2nd. Been a worm thrower and top water most of my life
