  1. With book face, I assume you mean Facebook. There are quite a few buy and sell sights on Facebook. If nothing else the sights can give you an idea of what people are asking for their boats. You can also look at the buy sell and trade web page for your area. Sometimes a good deal pops up there. Boat trader is another site.
  2. if no one is around, I just let it go in the lake. If there is no private area, I use one of these. it is on Amazon for $9.85 https://www.amazon.com/Farmunion-Reusable-Flexible-Hermetic-Portable/dp/B01LXVMGXN/ref=asc_df_B01LXVMGXN/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=167119746601&hvpos=1o4&hvnetw=g&hvrand=11613249126311808806&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9023890&hvtargid=pla-310366586155&psc=1
  3. I agree with @Bluebasser86 Perry can be tough under good conditions. There are however some really nice Largemouth and Smallmouth in that lake. If the water level is constant or rising, fishing the bridge rip rap can produce in spring. I use bladed Jigs, squarebills, and spinnerbaits. If the water level is dropping it gets really tough. There are also a couple small coves in the back of slough creek that hold Largemouth in the spring. If you are not familiar with Perry, there are a lot of stumps and trees in the back of slough creek that can eat a lower unit Since the lake is high, it is probably also muddy. The Smallies all but disappear in muddy water. if the lake is relatively clear, (at least for Perry standards) rocky channel swing banks can produce. Out of the last 3 years, 99% of the Bass I caught in Perry were either in the Slough Creek or Rock Creek arms.
  4. I was having a decent day catching 2 to 3 pound bass, when this dinosaur hammered my jerkbait. most exciting part of the day was trying to get my $15.00 jerkbait out of its mouth. It weighed 7lb 8oz.
  5. I have 4 speed demon pro rods. 1:medium action jig/worm casting rod 2 medium action jerkbait casting rod. 3: medium/light shakyhead spinning rod. 4: medium action squrebill crankbait rod. they are nice rods for the money. I also own 4 Dobyns fury rods. they cost on average $10.00 more than the speed demon pro. I prefer the KastKing rods over the Dobyns. Mainly because of the winn grips. A medium action speed demon pro is very similar to the medium/heavy Dobyns.
  6. I had one day at the local lake this spring that I caught seven. All on a ned rig. Bass fishing was slow that day and I was searching new areas for fish. Largemouth bass smallmouth bass crappie white bass walleye drum trout
  7. I can only speak for the Kansas side. these are all under 25 minutes from KCK. These are my choices from best to worst. they all have fair populations of bass. 1:Wyandotte county lake. (need a county lake permit). I may be biased. It is 5 minutes from my house. This is probably the busiest lake on weekends. 2: Shawnee Mission Lake ( need a county permit.) 3: Olathe 4: leavenworth state fishing lake 5: Lenexa 6: Cedar.
  8. I have a MinnKota Ultrex which is a cable steer with a pedal and Fob. I use the pedal 99% of the time, but the fob is nice if I am not on the deck and want to control the motor. When the wind is blowing over a point I will point the bow into the wind and hit spotlock. I will then fish from the stern, and control the position with the fob. In regards to having a FOB only, that is too much work, for normal Bass fishing. constantly using your hand to drive the boat does not work for me.
  9. I personally only use braid on casting gear for topwater. Otherwise it is flouro or copoly. Most of my casting rods have micro guides and the leader knot would interfere with the cast.
  10. I personally prefer about 6 foot on spinning rods. I don't want the knot on the reel. I usually do not use leaders on casting gear.
  11. Decided to try a local lake for the first time in 2019. After catching dinks all day, I finally caught a decent fish. it hit a ned rig.it was 18 inches long and weighed 3lb. 1oz.
  12. i live 5 minutes away and fish it once or twice a week. Wyandotte is a finicky lake. Especially in the spring. the bass fishing can be tough . There are decent fish in that lake, but they are seldom by the shoreline. I caught several 4 pound plus largemouth and a few 3lb plus smallmouth last year. all of them were on offshore structure and weedbeds. usually in 10 to 20 foot of water. fishing the shoreline is usually a dinkfest. this spring has been slow. a couple 2-3 pounders and a lot of dinks. I always do better there from spawn through November. I usually spend more time on other lakes this time of year. I don't think the lake is necessarily in decline. It just changed. A couple years ago the water was clear from the zebra mussels. Anything laying in the water was coated with them. there were defined weedbeds and the bass patrolled the edges of them. Last year the mussels died off and the water is not near as clear. The weedbeds were less defined. The bass seemed to congregate around what weedbeds were left. With the stained water the healthy weedbeds are harder to find. That is one lake where the zebra mussels improve the Bass fishing.
  13. Hills dale has a lot of crappie, but I have never fished it from shore. In spring Clinton can be good at the state park. Fish the rip rap south of the marina. I have caught Quite a few crappies there. twister tails seem to work well. Plan on snagging a lot. If it is windy the white bass will also congregate there. Clinton is loaded with white bass. I have caught a few crappies at Cedar Lake. It seems to have a decent population of Bass and bluegills.
  14. I spend a lot of time at La Cygne. It has big fish, but it can be one of the toughest lakes around to fish. Most of the better spots are not accessible by bank. One exception is the hot water outlet, when the water is cold. lake Shawnee in Topeka can be good. There is a lot of bank access. In Lenexa, Lake Lenexa can be decent from shore. In Olathe Lake Olathe and Cedar Lake can be good. Cedar lake is probably better from shore. If you want to pay for the permit, Shawnee Mission lake is ok. there are a few decent places on the Missouri side, near Blue springs. I don't have any experience on them. Someone else can chime in.
  15. 15 pound fluorocarbon is a good general purpose line. it is about the same diameter as most 12 pound mono or copoly lines. One suggestion when using fluorocarbon is do not buy cheap line. the only pure fluorocarbon lines I use are Tatsu, sunline sniper, or trilene 100% fluoro professional.
  16. Spent the day at a local reservoir, Trying to get a bass bite going. The lake level dropped 6 inches while I was there. I caught nearly everything except Bass. Still ended up being a decent day. Caught my personal best walleye on a jerkbait. It was 24 inches long and weighed 4.5 lbs. After several trips Walleye fishing up north, I end up catching my best in a local reservoir.
  17. It was ok. Only lasted a couple months.
  18. 7 is fine for console. I had a helix 5 di on the bow. It was ok in 2d mode. Screen was too small in DI mode for me. I am standing most of the time. If you are sitting closer to the screen it might be ok. i replaced it with a helix 7 di. Much easier to see.
  19. I bought a M/H one for a spinnerbait rod. It was on par with the black max rods. The 24 ton graphite is a lot less sensitive than the 30 ton graphite on the Vendetta and Veritas rods. One eyelet broke off. The ceramic ring fell out of another eyelet. I will not be buying anymore.
  20. This is spot on, for me. Every trip during prespawn is a search mission. I never know where the fish are going to be. Later on in the year they are predictably in certain areas and it is just a matter of finding the right presentation.
  21. I wear them in rain all the time. They are designed not to go off unless a little water pressure is detected. I have never had one go off in the rain. I did have one go off when I was getting in My Kayak. The valve must have been under water.
  22. Went to Shawnee today. Caught a couple dozen bass. all largemouth. One was just shy of 18 inches the rest were a lot smaller. Most were on a jerkbait and a ned rig. Also caught 8 drum. They would not leave the ned rig alone. Thinking about hitting Smithville Monday. Hoping the water warms up enough to get a jerkbait bite going.
  23. They must have dropped the lake level pretty fast. It was still high monday.
  24. Spent the morning at WYCO. Water temp was 47-48 degrees. Junk fished most of the time , trying to find a big fish. Caught Several dinks and 3 trout . That lake has produced several nice largemouth and smallmouth, for me, over the years. I have never caught a big bass there when the water temp was below 50 degrees. Guess I will stick to Shawnee and La Cygne when the water is cold.
  25. If your unit is a helix 5 G2 GPS, all you have to do is buy a lakemaster or navionics micro sd card for your area. Then Just plug the card into your unit and go.
