  1. To start off with a Carolina rig, I would suggest using a Strike King 3x finesse worm (it floats). If you like the bait that your using, cut a small piece of foam and put if right in from of your bait. I would make sure you are using sensitive line and your maintaining bottom contact. This rig has been unsuccessful and shallower than 6-10 feet. You also have got to be using it on some for of structure, ledges being the most productive. Hope that helps!

I bought one of these yesterday in the Chartruse Shad color. http://cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?_DARGS=/cabelas/en/common/catalog/item-link.jsp_A&_DAV=040207_bass-catfeatfish&id=0044158122003a&navCount=2&podId=0044158&parentId=cat20388&masterpathid=&navAction=push&catalogCode=IH&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat20388&hasJS=true It came with a little clip in the front like what you tie to on a Chatterbait. Is this clip necessary when using this BIG bait? I can see where it could get caught up in the weeds and in timber and im only going to be throwing it on 10 lb test. Is there anyone who loves these baits and is there anyone who dislikes them? if so id like to hear. thanks.
  3. I am going up to Pickwick for our spring break and staying in the Mariot that overlooks the dam. Are there any good places to fish from shore around the dam and what baits should i be throwing?

I dont like it. It comes off after several casts and your left with a green bait because it stains anything it touches. i do like putting it in tubes though but thats the only thing that i like this stuff for.
  5. i live in central alabama and i have seen fish up near the shore but im wondering: are we already in post spawn for my area of the US? i havent seen pairs of bass up near the shore so i have no clue
  6. i like 5/0 cuttung edge for horney toads
  7. has anyone ever tried wacky rigging a zoom finesse worm?
  8. i like swimming them back to me or "popping it". when i swim it i rig the worm to where the tail is vertical. when popping it ill rig it horizontal. throw it out let it sink for 1 count or 2 counts lift up let it sink to about 3 feet off the bottom lift up or "pop" it repeat until you bring that fish in
  9. i like these. http://www.mustad.no/catalog/product.php?id=1261
  10. the bait monkey couldve done a little better job today. all i got was: 5 packs of horny toads 5/0 ewg owners (3 packs) some Storm swim shads (new to me) some senkos a baby minus 1 and 4 finesse jigs in different colors i should have about 20 or 30 more things to add to that list but somehow i controlled myself but how should i fish the storms? i got the 4in shad color w/ the paddle tail. do you use these on a steady retrieve or yo yo them or make them look like its feeding on the bottom. can i fish these down about 15 ft? or are the used more for about 5ft down?
  11. Yum buzzfrogs are the worst plastic frogs ive ever used. try some zoom's. they dont roll over like yum and you will get a much better sound out of them. nice hook selection, i personally like 5/0 owner EWG's. Try 15lb instead of 8 or try some braid. i think you might be able to get away w/ a little lighter than 50lb. just experiment w/ different lines. also, the line has little to do w/ the fall. its just these baits are meant to sink. my go to bait is a grey ghost horny toad. just keep trying!!

i would say a 6' 6 M power rod with a moderatly fast reel.10lb mono will do. what you want to do is throw it out let it sit for 3-4 secs then reel about 5 times really fast then let it suspend for a second. now with your rod tip down towards the water jerk your rod tip then bring it right back to place now reel up slack and repeat all the way back to the boat

  21. i don't use a trailer hook. make sure u are using a color appropriate to the light penetration of the lake and if u arent getting any bites then u are doing something wrong because these lures catch fish. try fishing them slower(a turn of the reel every 2-3 secs) then let it fall about a foot after every 5 ft it moves GOOD LUCK
  22. has anyone had any problems w/ these? i dont like that there is a split ring between the blade and the head and that the trailer is very gummy
  23. i like alabama rigs because you can consistantly catch bass and not get tired of it. u can catch a ton of BASS!!!
  24. wayne p. those hooks look awesome for using on 10" worms and lizards and big 7" senkos. the oversized front end of the hook looks really good for using senkos w/
