  1. What bodies of water are you thinking of? I wouldn't buy any of those boats for fresh water fishing in the DMV area.
  2. Yep, I killed it on a pompadour post spawn there, pretty sure that doesn't get thrown a lot there. I plan to map out the bank with a Deeper this winter to really pin point some of the deep structure that isn't visible.
  3. What areas did you hit at Little Seneca? There's a little cove here that I like: https://www.google.com/maps/place/39%C2%B011'39.2%22N+77%C2%B017'43.8%22W/@39.194223,-77.2960422,219m/data=!3m2!1e3!4b1!4m14!1m7!3m6!1s0x89b62eb176c3ac1d:0x5b9dc8c56a8ac8f3!2sLittle+Seneca+Lake!3b1!8m2!3d39.1914068!4d-77.3001325!3m5!1s0x0:0x0!7e2!8m2!3d39.1942219!4d-77.2954952 Also here, which is reachable from the Clarksburg Rd trail: https://www.google.com/maps/place/39%C2%B011'36.1%22N+77%C2%B018'13.2%22W/@39.1933575,-77.3044452,310m/data=!3m2!1e3!4b1!4m14!1m7!3m6!1s0x89b62eb176c3ac1d:0x5b9dc8c56a8ac8f3!2sLittle+Seneca+Lake!3b1!8m2!3d39.1914068!4d-77.3001325!3m5!1s0x0:0x0!7e2!8m2!3d39.1933562!4d-77.3036697 There's also the bridge piling that you can reach from a little path, there are usually crappie hanging out by the piling, but depth will vary on the water temp. https://www.google.com/maps/place/39%C2%B011'23.5%22N+77%C2%B018'32.1%22W/@39.189865,-77.3094712,219m/data=!3m2!1e3!4b1!4m14!1m7!3m6!1s0x89b62eb176c3ac1d:0x5b9dc8c56a8ac8f3!2sLittle+Seneca+Lake!3b1!8m2!3d39.1914068!4d-77.3001325!3m5!1s0x0:0x0!7e2!8m2!3d39.1898636!4d-77.3089243 I haven't been to Little Seneca since pre-spawn, but depending on the water temps and conditions, I like throwing poppers in those coves. Otherwise match the hatch (craws, bluegill, perch and crappie). Widewater is hit or miss, but I would guess water temps are in the upper 60's, low 70's and I presume you fished the C&O trail side from the south end near the water tower structure? The topwater bite there is tough, and I've only had success there pre-spawn and just post-spawn with poppers and walking baits. A buzzbait might work better at other sections of the canal, like Great Falls Park (MD side). Last time I was there the water was down a lot and I've never really had a lot of success on the lower bank area, but Iwould throw a spinnerbait there until you hit the elevated bank wall. I've had a lot more success fishing the long stretch of bank wall with paddletails, spinnerbaits, and jigs, except you have to hoist a fish up 15 feet or so. When you get closer to the north lock, that whole area is good because of all the rock structure. Worms, jigs, flukes, spinnerbaits, just throw stuff til you get a bite and figure out a pattern. On the other side (Berma Road), there are two easily accessible spots that you can fish that I've had good success because of wood laydowns. If you walk about 1/4mile past the north lock, you'll hit a cross over bridge to Berma Road, then you walk down until you see some clearings with unmistakable paths that will lead you to the water.
  4. For srs....I'll let him put that Steez on the M/MH AGS rod next time we go out.
  5. If you're in the DC area in late spring or summer, I'll take you out to try for them. Sometimes they fight hard, sometimes they're just a dead weight. But most of the time, I lose them on a hook set because they're aerial specialists. I had one follow a horny toad creating a huge wake, I pause the toad and it slams it then it did a freaking backward somersault back into the hydrilla. I didn't even have a chance to set the hook. You'd be surprised at how bass fisherman are already prejudiced against them, whenever I put a catch of a SH on fishbrain, I get like 50 comments like "kill them or they will eat your babies"! Hopefully you got that my post of that video was a joke referring to that prejudice.
  6. Gosh, can't a guy spread fake news in peace around here!
  7. You better hide your dogs and cats if you live near the water. These "fish" will crawl on land and hunt your pets. There's even a non-fictional movie about them that shows how good they can stalk forage on land.
  8. 4 hours is about my max because of familial duties. Otherwise, I'd be out there as long as I could.
  9. Venom lures Slingblade with the gold turtle blade.
  10. It's also funny how some fisherman catch them and say they should be killed and eradicated, then when someone asks where they caught it, it's radio silence.
  11. What are the characteristics of a MGL spool that differentiate it from a normal Shimano spool? I have a Curado DC and K, but I'm very tempted to buy a MGL spool to see what it's all about.
  12. I have zero experience with these reels, but I think you're best bet would be to call Gary at TackleTrap and discuss, super knowledgeable about the latest Daiwa gear. Also they have a Facebook 10% off code.
  13. There's a coastal SV TW, a size 100 reel but with a 150 SV spool, doesn't look magsealed but maybe it's just marketed as coastal because it has anti corrosion bearings, but that 150 SV spool is very intriguing.
  14. Uh, that's basically the opposite of what the DC is trying to accomplish. Let me know when you're ready to sell it.
  15. NY does not differentiate which type of entities (i.e. a business as a C-Corp, LLC, or simply an individual) are subject to sales tax. It's the transaction that is subject to it. https://www.tax.ny.gov/bus/st/subject.htm Use tax isn't a notion, it's statute and it's voluntary compliance that 99.99999999999999999% of individuals do not comply with. It's enforceable if you're under state audit and its requested as part of an information document request, but more typically it's not asked for. Close, but it's the states that impose, levy and collect sales tax. There is no national (re: Federal) sales tax, although it has been proposed many times. Good point, lots of these mom and pop sales are exempt under certain threshholds. Sales and use tax compliance is one of the biggest headaches a business needs to comply with...that's why I use an outside firm to handle our compliance. It's worth every penny to pay someone else to do it.
  16. I bomb 3/8+oz lures on it compared to my other reels, on both fluoro and braid. I'll buy your DC for $150.
  17. If you sell it through a platform like Ebay, then yes.. Or if you're a reseller, you can apply for a state tax exemption and avoid sales tax until the point of retail sale. Technically, sales in the Flea Market are subject to use sales tax as well via self reporting.
  18. To be clear, Ebay is just falling into compliance with several states that recently passed legislation to charge sales tax on retail internet sales.
  19. Good point, if you're looking to throw 1/8oz lures, you're probably better off with a Curado 70. Lowest I like with the Curado DC is 3/8oz to get the performance I want out of it.
  20. Lew's has some interesting rods with those lure ranges. https://www.lews.com/rods/inshore I have a custom plus 6'8 speed stick with the short grip and I've been pleased with it. It kind of has a magnum taper and for a ML rating, I have had no problem hauling out 8lb snakeheads out of hydrilla on 12lb mono with it.
  21. Tatula 7' M/MH AGS rod, 1/8-1oz and are true to those ratings.
  22. I think mine would be the Daiwa SV105.
  23. Tatula SV TW, which goes for about $159 at the Tackle Trap. It can handle lighter lures for your creek/stream lures with the right rod.
  24. I have the Max 3D 7'1 MH/XF spinning rod, purchased for $130 when they had a website sale. I've never handled a Dobyn's. In comparison to a couple Tatula (original black and gold version) that I had which are around the same price, or less sometimes, the Max 3D felt more vibrant in detecting strikes, or banging structure/bottom. The cork on the Powell is nothing to write home about, but at that price point it's the quality you'd expect.
  25. Any plans to skip the jigs? If so, I prefer the SV over the DC. I don't have the SLX DC but I'm using the Curado DC as a point of reference.
