Maryland's Who's who!
Did you try and tell the person that large mouth season is closed until June 15th? I've been fishing at Widewater for 4 years now, and I've never seen anyone take any fish from there, or Canal, ever. From the main river is another story and it's usually blue cats. Also, I bump into a lot of people when fishing on both sides, even pre-COVID lockdown days. I actually posted it to help educate people on fishing spots, I started about 4 years ago as a bank fisherman and had no idea where to go. Luckily I found some nice people on this forum, and clued into other spots to get general ideas of where I could fish. If you look at what I post on here, I post all my dinks too, I'm not in it for "glory", it just so happened that I got my PB from Widewater. I'm just paying it forward to help other anglers look for opportunities. And it's a public place, it's tough to catch fish there in general so if you're worried about people ruining the spot, they won't. They'll give it a shot, realize it's not easy, and probably won't return. Blowing it up is quite the exaggeration friend, it's not a private 2 acre pond with limited resources. Maybe you're worried about fighting for spots, but that seems like a personal problem, especially since it seems like you have access to a private pond and maybe you're used to having a whole place to yourself. Hopefully that will help you understand.

Maryland's Who's who!
Could be a carp, or catfish, Harold doesn't say. If it's Widewater, there are huge carp in there. And it's also always busy on a nice day, so that's not out of the ordinary. I have zero problem with crowds, I actually like talking to other fisherman and see what they're using or what's working, then keep going and find a spot. Lots of times, that's how I've found some of the best spots, when getting away from crowds. I caught a 6.5lb'er on the Berma Road side of Widewater and posted it on Fishbrain! Enjoy!

Small Baitcasters
Especially awesome when they release a new product based on a prior product but change the name, e.g. Tatula150.

Small Baitcasters
Reel Test on YT doesn't really understand the mechanics of casting. All he really does is weigh spools, measure distances and say "Oh, look Shimano reels win again on distance". He sets up his reels all the same way, when they are clearly different braking mechanisms and should be set up optimally for the the reel. Stopped watching his videos a while ago when I started to palmface while watching them.

I really like the Alphas platform, and just picked up a used, but mint condition/modded Alphas Finesse Custom. I plan to throw it 1/16-1/4oz lures for white perch/crappie. If you're not looking for brand new/mint condition, the finesse variants of the Alphas are attainable for $150 or less.

Copolymer--opinions?
Do you have this cut and paste somewhere? I think you may be the expert on YHB vs other copolymer lines.

Hook keeper
Yes, there's a small gap that a thin/medium wire hook could fit under, but probably not a heavy gauge flipping type hook.

Spinnerbaits in Spring
It happens to me a lot too. If you drop a spinnerbait into the water the blades will turn while free failling. Spinnerbaits also don't make a big thud when hitting the water so I don't think they spook fish as much, and actually draw attention IMO. Combine those two and I think that's why you get the strikes when they hit the water.

Spinnerbait, spring, wood, yes please.

Maryland's Who's who!
https://news.maryland.gov/dnr/2020/03/31/frequently-asked-questions-about-governor-hogans-stay-at-home-order/ Looks like you can go fishing on a boat if you're out to get food. And you can kayak as a form of exercise, so it seems like kayak fishing is probably the safest way to go. I will probably just stick to hiking and bank fishing with my kids to do my part in keeping away from other people but get our exercise My wife has a plug in electric so I have no need to get gas.

What should I use this rod for?
It would work fine for lighter wire spinnerbaits, and braid/fluoro. I have the 7' ML/R Cronos that I have used for that before and it was just fine.

Trying to see if their 15% off code "tackle" stacks with the sale, but their site is down (for me). If it does, that's a heck of a deal.

Fuji hook keeper questions
I've been using this one from Boom's. It has a small magnet so when the hook is near the keeper it snaps onto it then you can reel in the excess line. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DRJ5QTC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I can see that being a problem if the plastic used is bulky, like a Keitech Fat Impact Swing. I only have the 1/0 and 2/0 sizes and they work terrific with GY 3" single tail grubs, and Keitech Easy Shiners. The Coolbaits Down Under is like my ned rig of underspins, it just flat out catches numbers.

Best way to put line on spool with no holes
I use the single hole to help get the line around the spool without having to take the spool out. Put the end of the line into the hole, reel the handle a little, and the line should revolve around the spool so that you can take it off and then tie your arbor knot.

I usually don't see anything I like during the TW Classic sale, but this time around my favorite underspin was on sale, the Coolbaits Down Under.

Have you ever counted your lures?
Yep, I'd say it's helped tame the bait monkey a little. I've deleted my TW cart on more than a few occasions after consulting the spreadsheet.
-
Have you ever counted your lures?
I keep them in a spreadsheet, so I guess I do. 262 lures, 920 terminal tackle, 798 plastics.

I agree with that. I have zero complaints, I've not gained, nor lost anything. But it woulda been nice to come home to a new shiny TM.
