  1. Does it have to be 2 pieces? No experience with a fiberglass rod for frogging, but I've seen youtube videos of it where it works fine, as long as it's somewhat stout for the hookset. Frogging doesn't require sensitivity so I think the characteristics you want to focus on are rod balance/weight, power/action, and if the rod length is good for you to be able to work the frog the way you want. A longer rod will let you take up more line quickly to drive in heavy wire hooks. Personally, I like frog rods at 7', which let's me take up line and yet work a frog easily too. For about $54, check out the Daiwa Aird-X Heavy/Fast. It's a great budget rod for frogging.
  2. Sorry, not my intent to tell you how to fish a t-rig. Edit: Oh just to confirm, you don't have a -G version of the ZIL741MHRB do you? I don't think they even make one, but just checking. I have the ZIL721MHRB and -G version of that rod, and they are completely different in terms of backbone and bend. They do make a TAEL741MHRB-G, but I don't think they ever made a Zillion version.
  3. Please don't take this the wrong way, but you might be focusing too much on bend shape. That rod has plenty of power for a stout hookset. Are you having issues with hooksets with that rod? I started with XF/F MH jig rods and found I was losing a good amount of fish when they breached the water and head shook.
  4. This is so true, I just got the ZIL721MHRB and if I got this rod about 8 months ago, I would not have bought 3 rods that currently sit on my rod rack.
  5. I have the Zillion 7'2 MHRB and 7'4 HRB, and both rods are pretty stout. I think the "regular" flex on the Daiwa SVF X45 rods are outstanding and I do not like fishing broomsticks. I would use the 7'4 MHRB for jigs/trigs up to 1.5oz's (weight + trailer), and also spinner/chatterbaits.
  6. Thanks for the offer, but I already have more of the weighted hooks (Gamakatsu Superlines) than I need.
  7. My only thing with pitching is, I can't get it set just right so that when the jig hits the water I can let it free spool. I can do that with my Tatula SV TW.
  8. Not looking for the mold, just the actual hook that is compatible with the Owner screw lock.
  9. Where do you get just the EWG hooks that work with the screw locks? I bought 5 of the owner pro packs when Amazon had a pricing mistake and they don't really work with conventional EWG offset hooks.
  10. I don't think there are any Curado DC's on Ebay that qualify for the 20% off...only ALF at the moment. You can sell me one of your SV103's to lighten your load.
  11. Maybe there truly was a defective initial batch...as the OP stated. But yeah, there's 1 variable to play with and it's not difficult to set it up so you don't backlash or overrun.
  12. I emailed ALF and they said they expected the 150XG in 10/24, if not sooner. Worth emailing or calling to see about the 151's.
  13. Bargain Cave online has a lot of stuff again.
  14. Smaller, more easily palmable, more affordable reel for a younger crowd.
  15. I take off all the stock split rings and use these. Texas Tackle split ring pliers make them ezmode to remove. I do use the Fastach with chatterbaits and the stock blade clips. I actually think it helps the blade start up faster on retrieve...just my opinion on that though.
  16. I will PM you so this thread does not get bogged down with the Curado DC haters.
  17. American Legacy Fishing has 20% off (or $50 off $250 or more) through 9/15. Ordered another Curado DC for $199, but they are back ordered for ALF...hopefully they'll get them before the weather gets too cold to fish.
  18. I guarantee you're not the only one. I started with the Lew's combo that usually goes on sale for $50 at DSG too. When I got my first Tatula rod and reel, I was like wowwwwww!
  19. Yes, the rated breaking strength. Size 3 is 75lbs, Size 4, 100lbs, etc.
  20. I think most refer to these as keel weighted EWG hooks. I do have these and use them with plastic swimbaits, such as the Keitech Fat Swing Impacts. The weights keeps the lure from rolling over so that the tail gives off the proper presentation. It also serves to get the lure down to the depth needed during retrieve. Probably useful for other types of lures, such as craws with long appendages that you want to swim back along the ground, but I've never done that.
  21. 14lb FC Sniper, I use setting 3 and the tension knob loose so that if I drop a 5" Senko with 1/8oz on a 3/0 EWG to the ground without thumbing, it will overrun about 10 wraps. Most wind I've faced with the DC so far were up in NH where it was about 7-10mph. I haven't faced anything more than that here in DC, other than some light winds under 5mph.
  22. Yeah, I've noticed that too. It's been poop lately, although there are some sale items that aren't in the Bargain Cave such as the Arachnid 8.1:1 baitcaster for $119, which is a rebranded Daiwa Tatula Type-R. It's a comparable price to the deals you'll get the Type-R on Ebay, but since it's Cabela's rebranded, it has a life-time warranty.
  23. I like to go as minimal as possible, but never had any break of the clips so far. But maybe upsize to Size 2 or 3 if you're concerned about cover. Size 0 - 15lbs Size 1 - 25lbs Size 2 - 50lbs

I remember exactly where and when I was when I heard on the radio the first plane hit. I saw the second plane on TV live. Right then and there I knew it was a terrorist attack and we would be at war. I highly recommend visiting the 9/11 Memorial and Museum in NYC. They did a tremendous job of memorializing the victims, as well as tell stories of the first responders and how many of them still suffer.
