B.A.S.S. announces
I thought that the new rules only covered whatever they call those power poles that have trolling motors on them. Making a rule against power poles doesn't make sense.

any pipe smokers? why do you do that? what is the attraction, esp over cigs or cigars....
I occasionally smoke a pipe or a good cigar, three or four times a year. Don't inhale, not addicted , can take it or leave it. Usually outside sitting around the fire in spring and fall with some good scotch. Why? I enjoy it, love the smell of pipe tobacco or a good cigar.

Really need a favor.
Prayers going up from south Arkansas. Would you be willing to share just her first name?

St Lawrence River - Elite
Pretty much the same thing for me. I was a subscriber back when it was a fishing tips channel. I even agree with him about FFS. Just the constant complaining ruined it for me. When people, me included would say something (not derogatory) about it, he would say that he doesn't complain, just bringing stuff to our attention. It was just too much. Congratulations to Trey McKinney and Chris Johnston!

St Lawrence River - Elite
Crazy thing is, Rick Clunn used to be his mentor and close friend. Noticed that Randy doesn't seem to mention Rick much anymore.

St Lawrence River - Elite
My money says that if Randy was somehow given an exemption and could fish with the Elites, he'd shut up and be doing the same things that everyone else is. I'm proud of B.A.S.S. for publicly announcing this and not trying to sweep it under the rug like that other league. FishingBoatDocks

Have you ever and if not, why not?
I much prefer small lakes, streams and rivers and away from people. Where I live now, we have a city owned pond, more like a small lake. There's a boat ramp, but other than bank angler's no one seems to want to fish it. It's electric only and I've fished it several times. Plenty of bass, none very large it seems. There are several other small lakes within about thirty miles. When I go, I like the quiet solitude of these small bodies of water.

Elite series Lake Champlain
He can count me out. I hate debt and refuse to pay the absolutely insane prices they ask for new boats and vehicles. But, that's a whole other topic. What's in my wallet? Cash Misread your post, I thought you said that he had a NEW RIG (boat). That'll teach me to read the post/replies more thoroughly! 🥴

Elite series Lake Champlain
HA, I did the same thing months ago. His constant droning on and on was terrible. I still check in on his channel every great once in a while, nothing has changed.

Do you rely on Intuition?
I equate intuition with past experience. Just like in my law enforcement career, I rely on intuition with bass fishing and just about everything else. When the hair on the back of your neck stands up, there's a reason and you learn to listen to it. In fishing, I have two Garmin units on my boat, without FFS. Basically they are to see structure, how deep the water is (I don't fish in deep water) and the water temperature. I rely on my past experiences, or intuition, as to what to throw, how fast to retrieve it, etc.

Clear (transparent) Plastics…….Grubs, Worms, Swim Baits
They must be sharing stuff. It's on Big Bite's website. Took a screenshot but it was to large to post.

Clear (transparent) Plastics…….Grubs, Worms, Swim Baits
Just read on Bass Blaster that Big Bite Baits is coming out with a line of clear and clearish baits called Stealth. Looked pretty good.

Clear (transparent) Plastics…….Grubs, Worms, Swim Baits
Kalin's used to have a good selection of 3" and 5" clear (with various flake colors) grubs. I say used to, where I live now the water is any but clear and smallies don't exist so I haven't repurchased any.

Clear (transparent) Plastics…….Grubs, Worms, Swim Baits
I read an article years ago about using clear soft plastics. It was concerning finesse smallmouth fishing with grubs in clear water. I bit and purchased some 3" and 5" clear grubs with silver flakes and some with blue, red and green flakes. Threw them on an 1/8 oz jig head, m/l 7' spinning rod with 6 lb clear mono. For me, I caught a few, had some fun but didn't set the world on fire.

Do you look at the fish you catch?
I pretty much always look at any fish that I catch. It's usually just a brief look as I don't like to keep them out of the water very long

WAlmartBatteries
I've purchased plenty of Walmart batteries in the past. I've never had an issue but I used to be a battery maintenance geek, always kept them at the proper water level using only distilled water, kept them properly charged, etc. The only lead acid battery that I refuse to use is an Interstate. Never had one to last. Now I use lithium batteries for the t/m and a gel battery for the big motor.

Boat size advice?
I agree with everything @Susky River Rat has said. Out of all the boats that I have owned, and there have been plenty, I have two favorites. Both were great rigs. Fiberglass, 19' ChampioN with a 200 h/p Mercury. Aluminum, Tracker 185 with a 90 h/p Mercury.

Tracker pro 170 with jet motor
I'm not surprised at all that Tracker wouldn't give you an answer. There are too many variables. I would be surprised if any manufacturer would give much of an answer. Your weight, passenger (if any) weight, how much tackle, live well full of water, or not all have to be thought of. It's like an old friend of mine that used be a forum member, the late Larry McDavid told me when I was learning about outboard jets, "depending on weight, a jet boat can easily run in 4" of water. It can even stop in 4" of water. It cannot take off in 4" of water." I love jet rigs, but they are all different. You'll just have to go out and play with it, bounce off of a few rocks, etc. Good luck with your boat, you'll love it! Ott is very much a master of the shallow east TN rivers. That said, he earned it via many, many ripped, torn and dented hulls, plus dinged and destroyed grates. Been a family friend for years.

Turtle on a pig and jig Drum on a pig and jig Catfish on a spinnerbait Crappie on a 3/4 oz Rattletrap Four Muskie's on a small Shad Rap. The fifth one still has my Shad Rap. That was five Muskie's in six casts.

Favorite blade/pocket knife/multi-tool? What do you carry?
@OmegaDPW, You are correct, it is a "Classic". I see that I can get one in orange. Better believe that I'll have a new one before Tennessee Volunteer football season!!! I checked, the Leatherman that I carry when fishing in a "PST". Like @MN Fisher, I've had it forever.

Favorite blade/pocket knife/multi-tool? What do you carry?
I don't know the model or model number but I carry the small Victorinox Swiss Army knife. It's the one with a blade, file, scissors, toothpick and tweezers. I don't like to carry much of anything in my pockets. I have an old school Leatherman multi-tool that I carry when I go fishing. I have a newer skeletonized Leatherman that my son bought for me. I'll carry it when/if the old one ever wears out.

what would you do
For me, I guess it depends. If it's a state record fish caught from a large lake/river, I'd probably turn it in. If it was caught from a small lake/river, no way. Let me tell you why, mlf (#FBD) has came to the tiny Bussy Brake in NE Louisiana twice in the last four years and the were some huge fish caught. To be fair, locals have caught some big bass too. Any way, that little lake is taking a pounding, almost daily. Nothing illegal, just a pounding so much so that someone built a campground next to it. If I ever caught a world record, it would be extremely hard not to turn it in no matter where it was caught.
