  1. Someone linked this a while back in another thread. Here is a vid with Brent Ehrler talking about how he sets up his Tatula SV which has the same breaking system. The relevant part of the video starts at the 1:40 mark and lasts about 2 minutes.
  2. I have two Helix G2N with Side Imaging, one 7" and one 9" with mega imaging. I intend to network them with transducers on the TM and transom. Which would you put on the console and which would you put up front? My inclination is to put the 7" on the console and the 9" on the front of the boat since it will get the most use. Thoughts?
  3. I like them. They seem to run comparatively shallow compared to most lipless cranks which has its place.
  4. I got a Humminbird Helix with all the bells and whistles late 2018. I hope to become adept with all it’s features in 2019. Hopefully I will become more confident fishing deeper water.

  6. Yes, Advanced has breaking strength beyond its rating. However, there are a few significant differences that I notice between the two lines. First, Advanced seems like it is a smoother line which seems to make it cast a little better. Second, YZH is stretchy where Advanced is not. Advanced is more sensitive. Third, Avdvanced seemed to be more visible in the water more so than most other monos or copolys. I mean like a lot more to the point that it caught my attention when I was reeling in a crankbait. In the clear, green tinted water I fish, it stood out as noticeably white. Fourth, Advanced floats better. When fishing a Whopper Plopper it seemed like I had to lift less line out of the water to only the lure sitting on the water. They are both good lines but I will be using them for different applications.
  7. I have a KK Royal Legend. It works. I use it, but I wouldn’t recommend it. While not intolerablely so, it back lashes a bit and seems too sensitive to wind conditions. If you are going to go the KK route, go up a level or two to the Assassin or Spartacus would be my suggestion.
  8. I don’t know your price range but apparently Tracker is going to do a 2019 version of what they did with the 40th Anniversary Heritage. You might look into that. I bought one and it has been a positive experience.
  9. Well I will try to do it as well. Thanks for confirming the cost savings.
  10. Tackle Warehouse has gift cards 10% off. Do their gift cards work with other offers? Does everyone just buy discounted gift cards to pay for their orders?
  11. I do not. There is no pivot or swing to the lure’s action so there is no benefit to do other than tie directly to the lure.
  12. On average, I am estimating that I have run the outboard between 1-1.5 hours per outing. Given the size of my lakes, I could see adding another hour to that total eventually when I start exploring my lakes further, but the urge to start fishing tends to take control. I have yet to use more than half the six gallon tank on an outing.
  13. So, I was one of the last to order my 40th Anniversary Tracker so I didn't get it until October. As I recall, when I went to pick it up the dealer took me through the final walk through. During the walk through of the 40HP Mercury, they made the recommendation about a special first service they offer for new motors after so many hours. I feel like it was after 20 hours of operation at a cost of about $300ish, but don't quote me on that. Did anyone else get this recommendation? If so, did anyone follow through with it? Thoughts?
  14. It's the low price of the reel that makes it so special. Sure, when it was released, it went for $99.99 and some places still sell it at that price next to the SLX, LFS, Casitas, etc. However, the reality is that there are many places where it is in the sub $65 range which puts the Daiwa Fuego CT in its own category as far as I'm concerned.
  15. Daiwa Fuego CT. It’s a $55-60 reel on eBay when there is a discount code available. Otherwise it is $65+.
  16. Is there a separate mount in addition to the cable guard or is it in a kit?
  17. I have used it. I didn’t know such a beast existed. ? Also I did end up getting a second Helix with side imaging which will be nice but my original plan was just for down imaging.
  18. I bought my TM in late 2018. I read that the newer Terrovas have lift assist which prohibits running the cable along the channel. Otherwise, I would just do that. I don’t know for certain though.
  19. Anyone else have a Minn Kota Terrova that they have mounted a transducer on? I just got my boat with a new Minn Kota Terrova. I want down imaging on it so I cannot use the Universal Sonar that comes with the Terrova. Because of the Terrova's iPilot feature and the lift assist feature, running the transducer wire down the shaft isn't an option. Is the Precision Sonar Cable Guard the best/only way to circumvent the problem?
  20. I just got a Bass Tracker and its stock transom saver attaches to the trailer with a pin. My knees do not like squatting down to pin/unpin the saver each time I take the boat out. Can anyone recommend an aftermarket transom saver of the "double wedge" variety that I can install, DIY? The existing attachment is just held on by a couple of bolts and looks like it can easily be removed.
  21. I just found the lake levels humminbird.com of the lake levels when they surveyed. Combined www.lakelevels.info that you linked, I should be able to find the offset with a little math. Thanks for your help.
  22. My original post was not very articulate. Here is a link to a video where someone uses the Water Offset feature to adjust for the water level changes of the actual lake. What I am looking for help for is how do I figure out how many feet the lake has actually changed so I can set the Water Offset accordingly. If it is relevant, I have Helix 9 Mega SI G2N Fishfinder and Chartplotter.
  23. I get the concept of how it works and what it does, but what is the easiest way to identify how much to set the offset for?
  24. If you have an hour or so to watch YouTube, Thebaitmantv just put out a comprehensive video talking about a lot of brands of crankbait.
  25. Since the US2 is limited to 2D, is there a reason that I shouldn't just go for the biggest screen I can afford on a 2D fish finder and be done with it given it is my intention to use the built in transducer?
