  1. I saw that Jimmy Houston started a Youtube channel, and I subscribed. Enter Lucy. How did Lucy and Jimmy come to be? Does anyone know her story?
  2. My reoccurring dumb thought. Me to myself after waking up: I will do _________ and then have coffee.
  3. I am guessing its been a while since you have gotten on the water. You might want to try getting your line stretched.
  4. I use to love Academy, and I will again if they start shipping to California again.
  5. I just started night fishing for bass to avoid the heat and recreational boaters. The one thing I find really indispensable so far is a headlamp. I found a Bushnell headlamp left on the bank a few years back before I got my boat and started using it this summer. I am glad I remember where I put it. Both times I went out this summer, I used all 4 settings on it, red light, blue light, high beam, and low beam.
  6. I am going to coin a term. GDS - Googan Derangement Syndrome
  7. I use regular Power Pro on my spinning rods and probably will for the rest of my life since I bought 300 yard spools a few weeks back when BPS had it 50% off. However, since you are trying it for the first time, I would suggest going cheap the first time around in 10 or 15#. Braid is over engineered for bass fishing. Most 10# handled much more than 10 pounds. Color fade is the main reason I ever change out braid. I have some on one reel that is 3 years old. The main reason I suggest you go cheap is to see if you like it. All my spinning reels are spooled with braid. However, braid is limp and wind knots are real. Cross winds will cause the line to bow out while casting. You have to learn to manage treble baits or it gets tangled up. If you want to use leaders, you might find connection knots to be tedious. I think it is worth it, but you might want to buy some 4x J-Braid or something on sale until you decide you like it.
  8. Baitcasters are the right tool for all things that are not finesse.
  9. You are posting on this website, so I assume you are comfortable with the Internet. Consequentially, I would advise you to skip written publications. They are about as obsolete as newspapers if you are comfortable with electronic media. Use this website to see past discussions on what you are interested in at any given time and start threads if you can't find what you are looking for or are looking to have a discussion. Do not take it personally if someone links a thread to previous thread. In all likelihood, they are sincerely trying to be helpful and not blowing off your question. Youtube is awesome for bass fishing. You can get ideas or solutions here. Youtube will demonstrate the execution of said ideas or solutions. For example, I can sell you are on the San Diego Jam knot here. Youtube will show you how to tie it. One other thing that might help you navigate this site for information. Use Google instead of the search function of this website. It is better at finding results. Just Google whatever you are looking for and add "bassresource" to your search.
  10. I can not say for sure, but their individual subscriber bases would suggest they each make well into six digits annually including LunkersTV who probably has some of his videos demonetized. They likely had the capitol to start a company. I am not much of a hunter, but I might have to check that out. Although I can’t claim to have seen many of their videos, I did get caught up in a series of videos by Jon B. where he hosted two anglers from England for two weeks. Listening to them compare the experiences of fishing between here and their home increased my appreciation for what I have and where I live.
  11. I will always have two topwater baits tied on that will inevitably get wet plus 2-4 other that will make it in the lineup during the summer. If I find myself lost with regards to what the fish want after that, the number can get into double digits if you count different colors of the same bait.
  12. I suspect this might be the cause. On the last occasion that I got water in the boat, my experienced boater friend reprimanded me for slowing down too fast because it is bad for the transmission. It was a habit I just started prior to the problem and stopped after being warned. It probably isn’t a coincidence that water stopped getting in the boat. Thanks guys.
  13. It’s kept in the garage and doubles as a queue for things my wife wants me to deal with. If she wants me to deal with something she sets it on the deck.
  14. I got my tracker back in October 2018, and it has been great. This is my first boat. Recently, I pulled the plug out of my boat after about six hours on the water and about 5+ gallons of water gushed out when previously not a drop had spilled out in over a dozen trips. An experienced boat owner told me that while it seems like a lot of water, I am not close to sinking so don’t freak. Water sometimes gets in the boat. That’s how it is. Next time I go out, it seemed that as much or more water got in the boat judging by the flow when I pulled the plug. Same guy I talked to the first time was there this time and conceded that it was more than normal but if it was a leak, it was a very small one because, in the grand scheme 5 gallons of water or so isn’t the end of the world. The next time I go out, I look down the back of my boat for water after about 3 hours. It’s bone dry. When I take the boat out of the water and pull the plug, it’s still bone dry. It’s the same for my last 3 trips out. Anyone have any idea what I did to get water in my boat? Both times water appeared, I fished a little later in the day to when the recreation boaters were on the water. That is the only thing that is different, but I don’t recall any wakes large enough to come close to washing over the side of my boat.
  15. I buy from BPS occasionally. No brick and mortar store can stock everything or a practical infinite supply of anything. It just isn’t possible in this age of excessive choices. BPS is no exception. What I do is use their free delivery to store option. I find that my California location is, on average, 9 days away from me ordering to me being able to pick up. That might give some indication about why they have such long stock outages.
  16. I bought some 6th Sense shallow cranks last year and had a bad experience. It was my first and only purchase of their products. I got a lure with a questionable paint job and customer service never responded to my emails. I eventually returned the defective lure but wrote off the manufacturer after that. A year or so later I was looking at another 6th Sense lure I bought on that order and just couldn’t deny how good it looked. Long story short, I fished it, liked it, got over my issues. I just placed an order for a couple of Curve 55’s and Cloud 9’s in the C15 size. I read a couple of reviews that said the Clouds get to and maintain depth with less pull than other lures. If that is true it will become my new deep crank. Also, the price can’t be ignored. They are very reasonably priced.
  17. Happy Father’s Day to the dads out there.
  18. I am not sure how I did it, but I tore a small rip in one of my bunks that is about 9 months old. I have been formulating a plan for when It gets severe enough that I need to act. It seems that my bunks are just 2x4’s wrapped in carpet and held on by 3 or 4 bolts. I was just thinking I could buy a couple of 2x4’s, cut them to size, carpet them, take them to the lake with me, launch my boat, and switch them out really quick before I head out on the water. It seems like it should be pretty straight forward. Can anyone see any flaws in the plan?
  19. Me too. I call it “Pauli Syndrome” after the character on Cheers.
  20. I have a 1/2 oz Chopo. It is a good lure and makes plenty of commotion on the water just like a WP. I just started throwing it so I can’t speak to its durability yet.
  21. I assume they will adjust next season once they have analyzed the data. My guess is that they will start altering the parameters for different stages of the tournament like raising the minimum for qualifying bass. They can even change it for each round or even each period. They can even use five biggest. Score tracker will still make it dramatic. MLF would be stupid not to take full advantage of the format.
  22. Personally, my first experience with Sixth Sense was a bad one. I bought a crankbait from TW and was not sure if I should consider the paint job a defect so I attempted to email their customer service. They never responded which l found annoying. I eventually returned it to TW but have not been inclined to order more of their products.
  23. I really like the Jackall Rerange that I started throwing this spring. The lure has great action and the sound of the magnetic weight transfer system is peculiarly satisfying to hear.
