  1. I put my own together from parts on Amazon, but this tool has come in really handy on my boat for all kinds of things. https://www.cabelas.com/shop/en/bass-pro-shops-telescoping-boat-hook?ds_e=GOOGLE&ds_c=Cabelas|Shopping|PMax|Proprietary|General|NAud|NVol|NMT&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwrcKxBhBMEiwAIVF8rLN17Ji4SM-JGpFfmqUaSBmrpnMFOj50qQs5QZ3A3VvXqG01BqhilhoClqwQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
  2. Getting up early enough to be on the water at dawn is a challenge for me so breakfast is usually microwaved left overs. Occasionally, when there aren’t any, I resort to a gas station breakfast sandwich. 100% of the time there is a Yeti full of coffee to wash it down.
  3. Just buy Yum until you graduate.
  4. Anyone with FFS have anything definitive on bass reacting to fluorocarbon vs mono? Do they care?
  5. The implications of FFS to competitive bass fishing has been self evident to anyone who understood what it was when it was introduced. Early critics tried to raise the alarm but were discredited. It’s pretty much the story of John Henry. We are at the point in the story where he just died. The question of “what now?” is a tough one. Now that the genie is out of the bottle. Even if FFS were made illegal for competition, it’s not going to detour the use of it for prefishing or just seeing some non tournament angler using it and copying them. The rule set that would have to be established would be pretty involved and difficult to enforce. Also, the business end would be equally complicated. There are big dollars involved. With all that said, I would be an advocate for eliminating FFS and any additional electronic tech from this point on. Considering what Neuralink just did the other day, a hard line needs to be drawn in the sand. Continuing with Hank Parker’s comparison with the golf ball, if you are willing to rewrite/ignore the history of golf, you could adjust by building new golf courses. That option doesn’t exist in bass fishing unless you want try and genetically engineer new bass. At that point it is just all stupid.
  6. Personally, it is the right combination of 90% getting away to reset myself and 10% catching. Oh, and all the hot chicks of course.
  7. This year, I will be skipping the poop. As novice as I am with the skipping technique, I can consistently skip poop baits.
  8. Merry Christmas BR and have a happy and safe New Year!
  9. Now that I have settled on my braid preferences, I only loose a few feet a year tying leader knots not counting my frog and punching reels. It could easily be a decade before they get low enough to need changing, maybe longer.
  10. Vampire bass. It's the only possible explanation.
  11. We need our Live Scope members to do some experimentation and data gathering on this and report back. This maybe one one of those age old arguments that can be settled or at least furthered through direct observation and testing.
  12. They have a deserved reputation of a good house brand. However, they don’t like Californians.
  13. When I was younger, I could do it while soaking bait, but I would be afraid to now. Treble hooks are too scary.
  14. I swear. Modern medicine is more wack-a-mole than science sometimes. Keep venting as much as you need to, but hang in there and don't lose hope. It will get better.
  15. "Did you take the medicine? No? Well it must not be that bad because that is what the medicine is for."
  16. 2 bottled waters, a soda, a Red Bull for the ride home just in case I might have gotten up too early, corn nuts, jerky, and a bag of some sort of chips is my standard kit for any trip. I try to eat before I leave the house or I will get a hot sandwich where ever I gas up. I drink when I am thirsty but I generally only eat when am regrouping mentally. Most of the time, I am only on the water 4-5 hours.
  17. I have the MH, H, and XH. MH is the equivalent of a M+ (Heavy side of Medium) H is the equivalent of MH+ (Heavy side of Medium Heavy) XH is the equivalent of H+ (Heavy side of Heavy). They named them "Feathers", and they are indeed light. I think the lack of weight creates the illusion that they are grossly underpowered which is not the case. I have muscled them out of the mats at the San Joaquin Delta and as well as dragged them across the tops of those same mats when I fished the other side of them where my boat is positioned.
  18. With braid, years go by. I have reels that still have the original braid that they were first spooled with. While I use a lot of leaders on rods, I do have a few straight mono/copoly. Those get respooled annually or when good marketing convinced me I need to try straight fluoro again. That’s been about once a year but I think that is slowing down.
  19. Choppo - the tail engages faster.
  20. Four Roses is another low cost bourbon that I keep on hand.
  21. Taco Bell is its own genre of food and cannot be compared to other restaurants.
  22. Olive Garden for sure. I feel like almost every local Italian or Mediterranean restaurant in any town is better and local Italian restaurants are common.
  23. I am definitely superstitious about my lures. I fish a lot with people who have less much extensive lure habits than me. Many of them are long time friends that I am generous with sharing tackle with. However, often they will want to try something they don't have, and the conversation will go something like this. "Sure, help yourself to my tackle boxes. Umm, not that one. Not that one either. No, not that one, but I have a brand new one that is still in the box exactly like that one under the seat. Use that one." Most of my friends have figured out that the more thrashed a lure is, the more likely that it is off limits. This thread has inspired me. I am going to make special 3700 box that is dubbed "The Billy Baroos". I will store it at the front of the boat with me.
  24. Lews Speed Spool LFS - $100 reel for $75. IMO, there is no appreciable difference between the Daiwa Fiego and Tatula CT. I have and use both.
