Bass vs. Catfish
^I really like this comment. We need more of this attitude in the fishing community(communities?). BTW you left out the elite purist dry-fly-only fly fisherman looking down on those savage wet-fly and streamer-fly fisherman?. ? “So, why is bass fishing so much more popular than catfishing?“ I think you could ask that about a lot of different species, but it of course depends what is available in different locations. Bass, largemouth in particular, are found in every state, and usually plentiful. Also, TV shows, tournaments, cool lures etc, and how bass are a bit prettier than catfish, make them appealing to the public. Where I live, most casual fisherman target bass, not even knowing that they aren’t even native here, and that there are much bigger fish in some our lakes. In my state, our only catfish is brown bullhead, with 12” being a big one, and honestly I love targeting those adorable little guys, but if we had some monster cats, you’d bet I’d target them on occasion too. I just bought a shark fishing combo, also, a second boat specifically to rig up with trolling gear and downriggers for salmon, trout, and lakers. I think I might get bored only if I only fished for bass.

casting ultra light lures
That’s a pretty good watch. I don’t study other states fishing regulations but that would be illegal in Maine, As with A-rigs. I hear we have some of the most strict laws in the country. The OP hasn’t given his location, but just a suggestion to him or anyone else, learn your law book.

casting ultra light lures
Definitely this^ I’ve handled some super noodley st croixs at cabelas. Not sure which models they were though. I don’t own one because it doesn’t fit my fishing style. My current ultralights are very crisp and probably wouldn’t throw a weightless Joes if I tried(the small ones, they come in different sizes) They are not very aerodynamic 2lb or 4lbmono might work better for you than 10lb braid on your current setup, braid can dig into itself and “stick” alittle bit, limiting your casting with light lures

Guitar?
Haven’t really played in years unfortunately, But used to be an avid drummer and guitarist. Played in various hardcore punk and metal bands. I can play guitar pretty well, but I skipped all the basics, I can’t tell you what strings are which lol. Tabs are easy.

Edit; posted at the same time as fissure_man meant no disrespect with the trolling comment

casting ultra light lures
I recall joes flies recommending a split shot weight if your rod won’t cast them. 1/32oz is extremely light

Not sure if you’re trolling or not? The flood light manufacturer doesn’t follow the same math as you

Any race fans out there?
Wow. ? Oh My.... I’m not a follower but can definitely respect that!!! Travis Pastrana’s Record Mount Washington Hill climb (YouTube) in a rally car always blows my mind. Having actually driven up the mountain(down is worse) as a passenger, white knuckling at 3mph... ?

Busting on what...
Do you know that they are bass? Sometimes other species can fool you.

@CattThey are not equal measurements, and you have no idea how rediculous 37million lumens would be. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Brinkmann-Q-Beam-12V-DC-Spotlight/478577389?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=2094&adid=22222222228135668466&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=m&wl3=244225920618&wl4=pla-430562609684&wl5=1018904&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=113148485&wl11=online&wl12=478577389&wl13=&veh=sem read the description. 1,200 lumens The reason those cheap flood lights say candlepower is to impress the customer. Its only a 100watt halogen bulb ?

It’s 1,200 lumens

Your flood light is not 37 million lumens... sorry bud. ?

Trolling For Smallmouth
I have never targeted bass while trolling, but I have picked up a few out in the middle of nowhere on trolling spoons like mooselook wobbles, and shiners behind flashers/dodgers. Flashy baitfish imitations should work hugging structure.

It was a good weekend
7lb?! First bass?! Congrats!!! My first bass wasn’t even 7oz. You’re doomed now ???
-
I'm confused...
Yes, largemouth or small? Suspended deep or at the surface? I’m talking deep as in 70+ft. I have caught all of the above while targeting other species trolling and casting. It is no secret that they are out there, although would be very difficult to specifically target in most cases. But as WRB said... off topic

Sheepshead Have Teeth?
I think the question has been answered, but what I want to know is how in the world you got so muddy?? ?

New huge PB! Best way ever
Congrats!!! That’s a pig. First pic it Looks like the tag is still on the rod too? ??

Boat will shock you (no kidding)
Correct, insulating the charger from the aluminum boat will not fix the ground fault. Same with MickD ^ and his water pipe, you might be able to avoid shocks in some cases but the fault is still there. And the biggest concern is that it’s tripping the 15 or 20 amp circuit breaker. He eliminated the house wiring side already, he is left with his cord or the charger.

I'm confused...
This might be true of the OPs ponds, but definitely not true of all lakes

Wow! Looks tropical?

Boat will shock you (no kidding)
That's what I'd check first, before getting a new charger. a faulty ground will in turn make the chassis live, only in the condition of a “ground fault”. You may have a messed up extension cord, (male ground prong broken, or ungrounded house wiring AND a hot to ground short within the extension cord) or the charger has water in it causing a ground fault. The GFCI is doing its job, and if the circuit breaker is tripping on a non GFCI cuircuit, chances are there is a short circuit in the charger, as an idle extension cord probably won’t short out. If it trips while he is moving it, it probably is the cord.
